If Walking into Your House Doesn't Feel Like Peace, Listen to this One!

We recently had new friends over for dinner and she sent us a text after saying "Thank you so much for having us over tonight!!! We loved hanging with you guys. Your home is so full of love and so healing (which we know is Him!) but it was so beautiful to see. We can't wait to hang again!" 

What do people experience when they walk into your home? Wife, you have the unique authority and role to be the atmosphere setting and creator in your home!

Welcome back to the High Level Wife Podcast. I'm Chelsea Holm and we do Marriage God's Way here. And one of the biggest pieces of marriage in how we are on mission for building the kingdom of the Lord, specifically through the multiplication factor of what God does through two becoming one and how he multiplies that impact when we're pulling in the same direction for him, is how other people experience our marriage and experience the fruit of the spirit by being in our presence, by being in our midst. And so often, and I just shared about this in the episode about generational impact. Um we we are different outside than we are inside, behind our four walls, inside our home, right? And um, and and what a travesty because we're missing out on such an opportunity of inviting people into the space to experience what the Lord has done, to experience what the Holy Spirit is producing in and through us. I will tell you of every single person we've invited into our house over the last month or so, everyone has said the same thing. That our house, our home is filled with peace. That when they walk in that door, they feel this sense of peace. And my response is always that's the Holy Spirit. All glory to God, because that's not us. We used to be that couple that was very different outside of the home than we were behind closed doors. Um, and it wasn't that we did it on purpose, it's not like we we intentionally did that, right? Um, for so many years, it's you know, people were seeing the highlight reel on social media and they weren't seeing what was actually going on. And so people were really surprised to hear that, you know, back in 20 I don't even know, 2013 or so, like when everything hit the fan, that we almost got divorced. Now, not very many people knew that, but those who were in our circle that were speaking truth and life into us, like it did surprise them because they didn't know, right? We didn't let them see anything. And so I'm sharing all of this because it's so important that with what the Lord is going to do in and through you and in your marriage and bring this multiplication effect of the impact that you guys have pulling together two is one, when we invite others into this space, what we're doing is we're inviting others into the peace of God. We're inviting others. Um, I just got a text this morning or last night, I think I had already gone to bed, but from new friends that we made. Uh, and we had we have hosted them for dinner last night. And she said, you know, thank you so much for dinner and for having us over. We loved hanging with you guys. Your home is so full of love and so healing, which we know is from him. But it was so beautiful to see. We can't wait to hang again. And like that's just a testimony of what the Lord has done in and through us because that wasn't the case for so many years. Um, and we can't take credit for the fact that people experience that sensation or sense of peace, right? Like people taste the fruit of peace as soon as they walk in our door, right? That is the Holy Spirit. That is not of us, that is of our surrender to the cross, and then letting the Lord, like being submitted to what the Lord was doing in and through us. And it wasn't just a one-time thing. Yes, God, yes, God transformed our marriage by by putting it back together in an instant. And yet the sanctification process is something that we have to remain submitted to daily for the rest of our lives or until Jesus returns. It's not something that the Holy Spirit gives you peace, and it's like, well, okay, I got my peace from the Holy Spirit store, and you know, now we're good, right? And every now and then I just need, you know, a couple, a couple fill-ups, or I just need to replenish a little bit. No, this is a daily thing. This is a daily surrender and heart posture, right? Inviting others into our peace, the peace of the Holy Spirit, the peace of God that surpasses all understanding. This is only possible by our daily abiding, which is a command. Abide in me, abide in the Father. Right? This is a command. This is a choice. It's a daily choice. You can abide in Jesus today or not, you can abide in the Father today or not. How do we abide in Him? We die to ourselves. We submit ourselves to His authority, we submit to Him as Lord and Master, that we are His slaves, His stewards, His bondservants. So if you are not in a place where there is peace in your home, this is where so many people come to High Level Wife and High Level Husband because they've essentially burned everything down, and this is their last ditch effort. Not as often the women. Honestly, it's interesting because the men come to high-level husband as they've typically burned the house down, and now they're like help, SOS. And it's like, well, you should have called the fire department like a long time ago, but nothing is too broken for God, and let's let's go, right? God is gonna do a thing if you're submitted to him, right? Or God can do a thing, but also your spouse has free will, so there's that. But I've found that women come to high-level wife because these are women who love Jesus, but they're not exactly flourishing in marriage, right? Like there are still things, right? There are recurring patterns that are extremely frustrating that they can't seem to get past. And so for the women, it's it's it's a different approach, right? And it's that they're submitted to the Lord, but there are areas, there are blind spots where there still is control. They're still leaning on their own understanding, um, and they just need some help being able to see those blind spots and be able to move through those things. But inviting others into this peace, right? This is one of the biggest testimonies of what the Lord has done in and through us and continues to do in and through us. In our homes, ladies, we have the unique responsibility and role to be the atmosphere shifters, the environment creators, the ambiance setters of our homes. Right? We have the uncanny role of authority in our homes when it comes to setting the stage of welcome, of what what is the underlying current of emotion felt in the home as soon as you walk across that threshold? Is it inviting? Is it warm? Is it life-giving? Or is it a place that nobody really wants to be? You don't even want to be, right? You hear yourself and you're like, yeah, I wouldn't even want to be here either, right? Is it a place where you invite others into the peace of God that surpasses all understanding? Is it a place where a word doesn't even need to be spoken and people experience God? Right? And and that doesn't just happen by putting some Bible verses on your walls. That comes by living Bible verses in your body, okay? Through your words, and that only happens with daily consumption, daily dying to self, daily taking up your cross and following him. Only then is your home going to be a place of peace that doesn't need to be spoken, but will speak volumes even when you don't say a word.
