Clearing Energetic Clutter: How Your Space Affects Your Wellbeing with K.Margaret Solorio

Natasha Joy Price and Guests

Send us a text

What if the feeling of being stuck, uninspired, or mentally foggy has less to do with you and more to do with your environment? The energy in our homes directly impacts our well-being in ways most of us rarely consider.

K.Margaret Solorio, intuitive guide and energy mentor, reveals how our living spaces accumulate what she calls "energetic clutter" – residual imprints from arguments, life transitions, and daily stresses that collect in the corners of our homes just like physical dust. This invisible buildup affects everything from our creativity and mental clarity to our relationships and sleep quality.

The good news? Transforming your space doesn't require elaborate rituals or massive changes. Through simple, intentional practices like opening windows daily, creating five-minute decluttering habits, and incorporating natural elements like plants and crystals, you can shift your home's energy to support rather than hinder your personal growth.

K.Margaret shares her fascinating process of remote energy clearing, working with archangels and spirit guides to identify and release stagnant energies without physically visiting a space. She explains how secondhand items carry previous owners' energies (revealing why that vintage coffee table might be giving you nightmares!), and offers practical guidance for creating environments that nurture who you're becoming, not just who you currently are.

Whether you're experiencing a major life transition, bringing new items into your home, or simply feeling "off" in your space, this conversation provides tangible tools to reset your home's frequency. By aligning your environment with your evolving personal energy, you create a sanctuary that truly feels like home, not just to your physical body, but to your soul as well.

Ready to transform your relationship with your living space? Listen now and discover how to feel energetically at home, both in your space and in yourself.

Speaker 2:

Thank you so much. Thank you for having me. I'm very excited to be here.

Speaker 1:

Oh no, thank you for supporting the podcast, and I'm really. I feel like this is something very new in a way, because often you don't hear about that. You know, resetting your home to match your energy frequency. When you say it like that seems so obvious, but actually it's something that you know is banded about a lot, is it?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I think in our personal development work a lot of the emphasis is on us and and a lot of it does stem from your intention and who you are. But there's definitely a lot that your space does to support you in any growth that you're going through or any changes, or even just to create a kind of sacred space where you feel safe and comfortable at home. You know, and nothing, so it does help.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I recently had a guest on and, um, he was talking about your car having an energy and your house having an energy, and it's a similar thing really. So I've named my house and I've named my car lovely talk to them. I know I'm a bit sad, but I talked to them.

Speaker 2:

No, no, my car has a name too.

Speaker 1:

I haven't quite, I just called my house the street name yeah it's not as cool, but well, I sort of, after I'd spoken to him, I thought, oh no, I'm gonna give them all names and send them love, and you know, I think I listened to that episode. It's fantastic yeah, and I think that's um a lovely concept. So talk to us about um energetic clutter. What's energetic clutter, and how do we know if our home is holding on to it?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I think well, I had described a little bit before. To me it kind of easy is to describe like dust. So when we live and we go through our day, generally a little bit by a little bit, some dust collects in your house and regularly you go through and clean it, and the same is true for energetics. So when we go through our day, whether it's moods we bring, or if it's something bigger, like an argument, or if it's a life transition, those bigger moments have even bigger energetic footprints and they leave a little bit of a residue. They can often also collect in the corners of spaces, but they can.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, sometimes if they collect for too long it can kind of weigh you down. So you'll feel it in terms of maybe the creativity isn't flowing as much as you expected, or you just kind of feel stuck and you don't know why, because we can't really most of us don't see energy, so it's not as obvious that that's part of our space and part of our what we do. So helping to clear that can help that energy flow and the clarity to flow too yeah, that makes real sense.

Speaker 1:

I mean, I always talk about, um, you know, having a daily routine to clean your own energy, but actually we need to extend that.

Speaker 2:

That's what's coming to me yeah, and it can be little things. That the point I think in all that I do, I don't like recommending people to do big changes because it feels so sometimes overwhelming or oppressive or if I don't do this, then I won't get the result. I think little changes can really help. If you set a timer for five minutes and you spent five minutes tidying up your space, you would feel a lot better about it.

Speaker 1:

It's not that big of a commitment but it's a big reward, because every time you pass through the space you go, oh look what I did yeah, I took care of myself a little bit more and so can people also clear energetically, like once they've tidied up in that room, can they do something that will clear energy wise, or is it the mere fact that they've tied it up going to shift something?

Speaker 2:

no, you can, energy wise, do yourself too. So any of the healing modalities you use, um, my favorite easy one is just I make sure every day I open the windows in the house and let things move through so the air isn't stagnant, and that helps move the energy as well. Intention is really big. So when you go into your space, even if it's just a minute, you close your eyes and you focus and you give that intention to the space and you release anything that's not needed. That can actually do a lot, because spirit does a lot of the work for us. Right? We ask, and the angels or whoever you would like to work with, they're here to help on this spiritually. So that can that can definitely help as well.

Speaker 2:

But what I meant to say with healing modalities. So if you like to work with crystals, that would be great. If you love to work with a smudge stick, you can definitely walk around the room with your intention and smudge, especially in the corners or around the furniture. So those are sound. Sometimes I use a sound bowl. That can be good too.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I always like using my drum as well. Yeah, there you go. Yeah, excellent. So if we talk about so, you know, things that have happened to us can hang around the house. Presumably, after things you know, bigger traumas, maybe like divorce or something that has happened, you're going to need a bit more of a cleanse, if you like.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I call it a reset, but same thing, you want a fresh start. You don't want that kind of lingering overall that you do. And if we think about you know, if we were going to host somebody and we're thinking about setting the vibe or setting the tone or setting the mood or the energy really is what it is we would be careful on kind of how we create, curate that so that the person feels welcome. And it's the same kind of idea for what you're doing for yourself.

Speaker 1:

You can tolerate a, a lot, but that's maybe not beneficial for you and we really want your space to support who you're becoming and not who you are yeah, sure, and also, you know, if you're going to have work done in the house so that and you're getting strangers, in essence, to come in and do that work and rip walls out and do, presumably after that, you need a reset as well, don't you?

Speaker 2:

it definitely. Yes, it helps. So that's definitely a big change too. Or even I've worked with yoga teachers in yoga studios, where you have lots of different people coming in and out, but you really want to create this welcoming environment and so clearing out the energy there regularly yeah, beneficial it's really.

Speaker 1:

It's an ongoing thing, isn't it? It's it's something that we should do on a rolling basis, basically yeah, I think the best is to use your intuition.

Speaker 2:

So if you feel that something is off, that's a great time to pause and do something about it. Yeah, I agree, like you were saying, if there's a major life event or you're having work or there's some big change in your family, positive or negative, that's a shift and you want to acknowledge that and clear out that's maybe time for a bigger reset. But daily practices, I think anything where you're being intentional and with how you use the space helps that energy align.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I think also, I suppose, thinking about it, anything that we buy as well, we need to clear as well. I know that years ago I bought a secondhand coffee table and I brought it into the house. I loved it, but literally a couple of nights later I had a really massive nightmare, which is not my norm at all and sort of woke up in a bit of a state and I knew it was the table.

Speaker 1:

So I then went and cleared it and cleansed it and I was fine. But yeah, especially secondhand stuff If you're, if you're going to that's exactly what I was thinking of when you said it.

Speaker 2:

So for me, a lot of it is sometimes you don't even buy it. You receive it right. Somebody had something they were giving away and you kind of need something like it, so you went with it. Or when you were starting your life like, well, I think when my husband and I got started our lives together, we received a lot, and now we still have some of those things, but maybe they're not in alignment with what we really wanted. They're just a hand-me-down. So, yeah, to think about that too yeah, um, and also plants.

Speaker 1:

you've got lovely plants in your scene behind you, but plants are fabulous for cleansing energy, aren't they as well? So bringing in crystals and plants and essential oils and things like that?

Speaker 2:

Yes, I agree, anything natural. So definitely look at how you can bring nature into the space, whether that's looking for wood furniture or if you do like plants, plants or even a print of a plant, whether that's using, like looking for wood furniture, or if you do like plants, plants or even a print of a plant. I find often it's helpful to think about your favorite scent. So I'm a really visual person, so me having those plants to see. But if you're an auditory person, you might want to put some background music of birds chirping and that can help you really lift the mood or the energy. And also lighting.

Speaker 2:

I think lighting can really affect you but help. So thinking about, maybe if it's meant to be a cozy space, you don't want the overhead light, maybe you want a few lamps or seeing what you can do. Again, if you think about it, like you know, know lava lamps and moody vibes. You you understand the concept, but we forget sometimes to apply that to our every day and that that it can really help manifest your intention for the space yes, I'm a bit of a.

Speaker 1:

I am a bit of a plant mad woman oh that's fantastic.

Speaker 2:

I have actually said no more plants because my husband said that, though I will argue that a number of ours were gifts.

Speaker 1:

They're great plants, but I didn't buy them all but I absolutely love them and I can't resist a good plant. So, um, but yes, I think I think that really helps as well. And crystals I used. I used to sell crystals, so you can imagine that.

Speaker 1:

Oh, wow, no, that's all good. That's all good. So when you go and work in somebody else's space to help them, how much do you pick up on, intuitively maybe, that they have got used to or they don't want to have a look at, or yeah, it's um very intuitive work.

Speaker 2:

I use my angel reiki healing modality and practices in this work. I actually um kind of prefer and do more remote sessions and I think that helps illustrate how it's not just about me seeing your space but it's about tuning into the energy and what we can do there. And I do also work with angels, so I receive messages from the angels of guidance. It almost feels like I used to do uh reiki work on individuals where we would work through the major energy centers in the body and and clear and align those. It kind of feels like that.

Speaker 2:

So I'll start with the front door and this energy. Like the last one I did, this beautiful pink energy came in and so I I provide a report about a day or two afterwards to my client and then they can see all those notes. And it's always fun how everything correlates. Right spirit's so good at coming and meeting you where you are at the point in your life. So then it's it's fun for me to be that channel, but the information is so specific for the person that it's fun for it to come remotely, I think yeah, so so you don't, you don't see anything, you just literally tune in and you get this information.

Speaker 2:

I ask for an intention, so there's focus for the session, and then I get a blueprint. So it's usually just a sketch where the outside doors are marked, but also basic labels of the bedroom, like bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, so that I know. And then I go through each room and clear bathroom, so that I know.

Speaker 1:

And then I go through each room and clear, excellent. And when did you realize that you could do this? When? When did it sort of start? When you were doing your Reiki training or yeah, I would say in general, energy healing.

Speaker 2:

I meditated daily for years and I would. In my meditations my hands would heat up. So I looked into that and I realized that was a sign of getting to be a healer. So I learned to be an energy healer and did my Angel Reiki certification and then I've always had this vision of getting to work with spaces a long time ago, but never really knew how to, what that meant or if it was a thing. And then it just kind of evolved. I got more and more kind of downloads of, oh you could apply what you know this way, oh you know what this really helps this way. And then I said, okay, I gotta just start doing this and see.

Speaker 1:

And it's just fantastic and just let it evolve, sort of thing yeah, and it continues to yeah, so presumably it doesn't just have to be the house or well. I'm thinking like houses that are actually on a plot, so it could also really that you're clearing the spaces outside as well on that plot.

Speaker 2:

Yes, I also do the landscape. Yep, if it's a standalone house and it has a yard, I actually start outside and then go to the front door.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, has a yard. I actually start outside and then go to the front door. Yeah, and presumably do you. Do you find things like lost souls that are wondering about, or things like that, or do you pick up on elementals, or is it just that you pick up on energy that doesn't feel right, or I have not really.

Speaker 2:

I haven't come across any lost souls yet, though that's not really the work I've not really. I haven't come across any lost souls yet, though that's not really the work I've ever done, so I don't really expect it. I have come across loved ones on the other side who send a message while I'm doing the work. I work with archangels, so the archangels will step forward, and that has different meanings for me and helps me. Obviously, they provide the messages, but also helps me read, uh, the energy, and then, yeah, it's usually more feeling the density of the energy in the space and then receiving messages as to what could help yeah, I only ask about lost souls because?

Speaker 1:

about lost souls? Because when I came to live in my present home that has quite a large garden, I felt like there was somebody in the garden, so I sort of not really knowing what I was doing, but I sort of sent him on his way in the nicest possible way.

Speaker 2:

yeah, good, I had somebody was there yeah, I had a client who said they also kind of sensed that and then afterwards they've experienced, didn't experience funny, like tv turning on by itself for things. So I feel like we cleared energy, but I didn't actually recognize. You know, I don't have any characteristics of that spirit to share.

Speaker 1:

That didn't come up for me, but you could tell that there was something different there yeah, there was definitely a shift in the energy yeah, so, um, you're talking about your angels. Do you have specific angels or do you just tap into sort of a collective energy of angels, or do you have like a group that help you?

Speaker 2:

Really good question. I mean I work with my spirit team but in terms of archangels, I work with specific ones and I think it's as much as I can keep up. So the more I learn and the more I can work with. So, like I first started working with Archangel Michael, so he shows up almost every time I work with Raphael. I prayed to Gabrielle. She comes across as a female energy, as most people see Gabriel, but same angel For speaking for today on the podcast, so that I could bring value. So a number of individual ones, but I really love working with them and learning about them.

Speaker 1:

So yeah, but alongside them, you have your own group of guides as well that come through. Yes, yeah, especially for this work or for everything that you offer. I'm just interested do you have different guides for different things? That sort of?

Speaker 2:

really good question I have. I haven't. I haven't noticed a separate team for this specific work. I have three um spirit guides on my team that help me all the time with everything, and it's kind of just like a conversation, like, okay, here's my intention, here's what I'm going to do, hold the door open, let's do this fascinating.

Speaker 1:

I love what I love hearing about people's processes and how they do it, how they work, and you know what, who they channel, and it's, it's, it's all amazing, I think it is, and we all experience it so differently, like even hearing your intuition.

Speaker 2:

I say hearing your intuition because I hear almost like a whisper, but not everybody does.

Speaker 1:

Sometimes it's a gut reaction and a feeling, or sometimes you might see something in your mind's eye yeah, I tend to be very visual, so I tend to get imagery that I sort of then have to interpret.

Speaker 2:

So, um, oh yeah, I uh, well I'm, I hear it auditorily and then I catch myself arguing and then I'm like oh wait, listen, don't argue, that's a, that's not your thought that's there to help you.

Speaker 1:

I do get frustrated sometimes because I think can't you make it a little clearer for me? I just get symbol symbology a lot of the time. So then I have what does that mean, you know?

Speaker 2:

and I don't want to put my slant on it, I want to, I want to get it, um, as accurately as possible, but it's yeah, though I do think it's fascinating that they use your own experiences as your own dictionary, almost Like I once read about a medium who used who, like a giraffe, meant strength to her and I was like, yeah, that would not come up for me. That does not what I think of when I think of giraffe.

Speaker 1:

No, or somebody that is a specific name. You see a friend who was that name. So then I see somebody I know is called Stuart, and then that means something to the client, right.

Speaker 2:

Well, and often that's the hard part too is you want to interpret everything and then you realize the message isn't for you. So you just have to say pancake or whatever came up, and then they're like oh yeah there's a whole story.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, all these weird and wonderful things. So, um, when you finish clearing everything whatever, whether it's the space, the house, the whole site do you then sort of protect it? Do you have a mechanism to protect it or do you just leave it?

Speaker 2:

um, I go back. I don't if I'm asked. I always protect myself before I start energetically. Um, I go back. Once I've gone through everything, I go back through and double check and then it almost feels like tying a bow at the end. So I don't put a big like energy shield. I suppose if I was asked I'm happy to do that, but because by the time I'm done everything feels much higher vibration and flowing. It feels more like sealing and finishing. I definitely intentionally finish at the end.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, again, I only ask because when I do mine I always feel like I have a dome, like an energetic dome, but maybe that's my way of, like you know, feeling the shift in energy.

Speaker 2:

I don't know yeah, that totally makes sense and that's how I visualize it when I start, so I'm not absorbing other energies for myself. Yeah, um, but maybe because I've cooked too much or read too many cooking things, it always feels like, you know, when you like stuff a bird and you seal it, yeah, at the end, before you're gonna cook it, it feels like that, like everything's all set and ready to go and cook and I just need to finish it yeah, yeah, excellent.

Speaker 1:

So so you know, we've cleared the spaces, we've gone in and we've looked at energy and etc. If we didn't do that and people have lived with it a long time how does that affect them energetically? Does it have a real knock on effect?

Speaker 2:

to do that. But it's that you being aware that it is part of your environment and then you have opportunity to help shift it in your favor, I think is very valuable. It can kind of weigh you down if you think of, like I don't know, some feeling stuck and not feeling your creativity flow, feeling your thoughts kind of muddled and maybe not so much clarity sleeping but not feeling your creativity flow, feeling your thoughts kind of muddled and maybe not so much clarity sleeping but not feeling like it's really restful sleep. Or I've seen it affect like relationships and communication between relationships, where those are dampened or harder instead of easier and flowing yeah. So kind of just that stuck energy where if you go into a bright, flowing space, if you imagine that that it's easier, yeah, and most people can feel that, can't they, they can yeah, I think we've all been in situations or like, even if you've walked into a room where somebody just had an argument, you're like, okay, I feel that mood.

Speaker 1:

No, thank you yeah exactly. Um, so we've talked a few things about a few things, but how can people start off doing this? What? What's a couple of things that they can just do themselves, to sort of process?

Speaker 2:

I mean it decluttering does help. I don't like to tackle the whole thing because that's no fun. So if you can set yourself a timer, maybe for five minutes, and just tidy up your space and put some things away, that sets a tone right, it helps set your intention and it can feel really good. I love to. I mentioned before open the windows. So if you can open the windows, do it every day, rain or shine, winter or summer at least 5, 10, 15 minutes and let that flow.

Speaker 2:

A lot of times I um think of energy flowing through the space as you would like. Air currents, you know, you see all those maps, weather maps with the arrows. Yeah, so the air is flowing through, but that energy and energy likes to move. So getting that flow helps really refresh the air in the space. Yeah, yeah, I like to think of making positive energetic anchors too. So if you have something particular you're working on, if you want to go on a beach vacation soon, you're getting excited and you put a nice shell out for display, then every time you pass that you're getting excited and you put a nice shell out for display, then every time you pass, that you get excited and you're putting out these positive vibes and energy that that can help the space. Um, or we talked about, too, bringing in nature, looking at the lighting and and bringing in a plant or a crystal or something that helps you ground and and feel uh, connected and and cleansed yeah, that's something we didn't.

Speaker 1:

We haven't talked about is color um as well. So I'm as I'm just presuming that different colors will energetically have different frequencies, won't they? They?

Speaker 2:

do. Yes, I find the biggest difference to be a light and dark, the colors themselves. To me I know there's a lot out there on this color means this, but for me it's. It has to do, like we're saying with your medium dictionary, like it depends on your experiences, your preferences. So you know, for green is really calming, it reminds me of nature, but some people really don't like green, you know.

Speaker 2:

Or I remember once when I was a kid, I went to a school where everything was painted purple and I was just like this is a lot to take in, but they thought it was this inspiring color to learn more. So, each to their own, do what feels good, but think about how it plays with the light. So if it's a, you know, a place where you're trying to focus, you want more light, then you want it to be brighter. Or you want to feel open, you paint the ceiling something light, like a nice white, so that it you raise up, uh, your view and your thoughts and and feel that light airiness yeah, yeah, a lot to think about.

Speaker 1:

And everybody is unique, you know, aren't they?

Speaker 2:

yes, and that's a good thing?

Speaker 1:

yeah, absolutely, it's going to be fun and unique, um, for everybody, isn't it right? So there's.

Speaker 2:

Right. So there's no right answer. There's a right answer for you, and so to enjoy that and to learn to tune in and listen to your well, as my podcast says, intuitive wisdom, but your intuition that counts for a lot, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Now, I'm glad you mentioned your podcast. That was a very good connection there, because I was going to ask you about it. So you've got your podcast, intuitive Wisdom. So what do you chat about on a?

Speaker 2:

whole range of things to put more joy and kindness out in the world. Actually, when I first started, I thought of it one to help me find my voice and two to make a legacy that my kids could tune in anywhere at some point when they grow up and have something positive to listen to and inspiring. I love that it's become a platform to share others' work who are doing such good work. You're going to be a guest soon on my podcast, which I'm excited about, and it also is a way for me to grow with listeners. So it's a lot of the personal growth. It is some spiritual awakening and just things to become aware of, so that to help in your own journey. I'm definitely a person who loves to take in lots of information and then find little nuggets that that help or that inspire me yeah, so that's a lot of what I do with the podcast.

Speaker 1:

I love it. I I feel like it's a sort of um, it's a ripple, isn't it out into the world? And podcasts, now, I mean, they're listened to all over the world, so you reach so many different people that you wouldn't, years ago, have even come into contact with.

Speaker 2:

I agree, and it's so and it's timeless. You can tune in whenever you want and it can still make a great impact, and I think I'm. You know I'm one of those people who misses writing letters, but I also miss genuinely interesting conversations, like I feel like these days you don't get that as often and with podcasting you do. You're just two people sitting down and sharing and learning and there's always some sort of magic that comes out of it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, absolutely, and you've also got your book as well. So just tell us about your book Make Ease your Vibe.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so this was from the first few years of my personal growth journey. I would say, if you looked at my life now and five years ago, not much different if you're looking from the outside, but from the inside out, completely different. I enjoy the life I lead and love everything, everything about it, whereas before I um, stifled myself and sacrificed and really felt like that was the answer to holding up the rest of my life and my family. So, um, the, the mindset, the energy and the time strategies and kind of practices that I learned to help make that switch is what I've written about, and there are little exercises in the book to help you.

Speaker 1:

Excellent, that sounds really interesting. So thank you so much, kay. Margaret, before we just finish, let me just ask you I occasionally ask people this, if I remember but what is one sort of main spiritual thing that you do that has really helped you in your spiritual growth?

Speaker 2:

um, I would say one. Remembering now that I know that we all each have a guardian angel or a spirit team, and there are angels to help us at all times, knowing that you're never alone and there's always support, has been huge, because there are a lot of times where I feel like, with good reason, how can anyone see my vision or understand my vision before I've created it? But that you feel alone and you're never actually alone. But to that end, everything that is happening is happening, that you feel alone and you're never actually alone, but to that end, everything that is happening is happening for you and not to you. I think that shift has meant everything to me and reminding myself, even when something seems difficult, that there's good in it for me. There's a reason I'm going to grow, I going to be better, I'm going to be happier, I'm going to have better, bigger ideas. Whatever it is to remember that when I'm walking through my day lovely.

Speaker 1:

Thank you for that. That's really lovely. Thank you so much for coming on the podcast and supporting me on balm to the soul. It's really lovely to have met you.

Speaker 2:
