This is a just a conversation about how you, as a busy broker, can use AI to actually work smarter, save time and grow your business without becoming a robot, without needing to be a coder and without adding even more stress to your day.

Speaker 1:So back to this week's episode of the Mortgage Broker Broadcast and AI. Ai is making significant strides across the UK in every aspect and every business but financial. It is as well, with, I think, 75% of firms already using it and 10% planning to adopt it within the next three years. Me personally, I think it'll be a lot sooner than that, but that's what the stats say. But the mortgage broken sector appears to be trailing behind with AI. Recent research indicates that 58% of mortgage brokers are open to AI playing a bigger role in the sector, yet actual implementation remains limited. This gap presents a sustainable opportunity for brokers to use AI tools to enhance efficiency, reduce admin burdens and provide a more personalized client experience. By embracing AI now, brokers can position themselves ahead of the curve, offering smarter, faster and more tailored services that meet the evolving expectations of clients.
Speaker 1:So why are mortgage brokers missing the AI boat? Well, let's be honest. Most mortgage brokers are flat out busy with appointments, chasing lenders, dealing with compliance, responding to WhatsApp messages all hours of the day. You're probably thinking that I don't have time to learn AI, but the truth is, AI is already here. It's been used in our industry. It's just not being used by you. Bigger firms are using it to speed up app administration. Content creators are using it to speed up app administration. Content creators are using it to post daily. Smart brokers are using it to streamline processes and reduce the overwhelming feeling every day.
Speaker 1:So if you are not using AI, you're already falling behind. I know that's not because you're lazy or outdated, but because no one's taken the time to actually show you what's possible, and that's what I wanted to start doing with this podcast. So what does AI actually mean for brokers? So just to give you some clarity as well, I'm not talking about robots replacing brokers or fully automated advice Absolutely not. I'm just talking about using tools like ChatGPT to do things like writing a follow-up email within seconds, or creating social media posts without the stress, or summarizing long documents or lender guides, or rewriting technical jargon in plain English for your clients, or drafting newsletters to stay in front of mind for your clients, or generating marketing ideas when your brain is fried. You don't need to be technical. You just need to know how to ask the right questions, and that's where prompt writing comes in. You're already doing the hard work. Ai helps you just do it to do it faster, with less burnout and more consistency.
Speaker 1:Let me just give you a real life example. What does this look like in the real world? Just come off a call with a client and need to send up a follow-up email to summarize a chat, outline the next steps and include your compliance disclaimer. Normally that might take 10, 15, 20 minutes, but with ChatGPT you can paste in a quick bullet point summary and say write a professional follow-up email to a first-time buyer based on these notes and in seconds it's there. You will tweak a few bits, absolutely, you'll hit send and then you move on with your day and that's just one task. Multiply that across your week. This time saving is absolutely massive. That's why I care so much about it. It's not about being lazy, it's about being smart with your time, energy and focus.
Speaker 1:So why am I talking about this right now? Because I've been working closely with mortgage brokers for years and I know that time, stress and inefficiency are huge barriers to growth. You didn't become a self-employed mortgage broker to drown in admin. You didn't start your own firm to spend your weekends writing social media posts. You became self-employed for freedom, flexibility and control. Ai, when used right, gives you that back. That's why I've decided to build out more support for mortgage brokers specifically around AI. Not tech for tech's sake, not theoretical stuff, just simple, clear ways you can use AI in your business today to make life easier and grow with less stress.
