DWDP Gen 4 10-12 The Blood that Still Speaks
The voice of your brother's blood is crying to me from the ground. These haunting words from Genesis 4 begin our exploration of humanity's first murder and the profound spiritual implications that echo through history to our present day.
Blood speaks. Abel's blood cried out from the soil, demanding justice for an innocent life violently taken. Yet across the centuries, a different blood would speak—the blood of Christ that offers not condemnation but cleansing, not retribution but redemption. Dr. Papa unpacks this theological contrast with clarity and compassion, revealing how these ancient texts illuminate our modern struggles.
The story of Cain and Abel represents more than a tragic family conflict. It establishes the prototype for an age-old battle between two spiritual lineages: the righteous "seed of the woman" and the rebellious "seed of the serpent." We see this pattern repeated throughout Scripture—Saul hunting David, Jezebel pursuing Elijah, false prophets conspiring against Daniel—culminating in Christ's crucifixion at the hands of those Jesus identified as children of the devil. This spiritual conflict continues today through persecution of believers worldwide and movements toward globalized power structures that many view as precursors to prophetically significant events.
Despite appearances, Satan's ultimate defeat is assured. "The God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly," we're promised in Romans 16:20. While Abel's blood continues to cry for justice, Christ's blood speaks forgiveness and reconciliation. For those feeling distant from God due to bitterness, anger, jealousy, or pride, Dr. Papa offers this hope: "It doesn't matter how many steps you have gone in the wrong direction. It only takes one step to get back to God, and that step is confession and repentance." Join us for this powerful exploration of blood that speaks across millennia and the redemption available to all who seek it.

Welcome to More Than Medicine, where Jesus is more than enough for the ills that plague our culture and our country. Hosted by author and physician, Dr Robert Jackson.
Speaker 2:Papa, can you tell me a story?
Speaker 1:Do you really want me to tell you a story? Well, you go, get your brother and your sisters and I will tell you a story. Well, you go, get your brother and your sisters and I will tell you a story. Welcome to Devotions with Dr Papa. Gather around, grab your Bibles and let us look into the written Word, which reveals to us the living Word, who is our Lord Jesus Christ. Today we're at Genesis, chapter 4, verses 10 through 12. He said what have you done? The voice of your brother's blood is crying to me from the ground. Now you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand. When you cultivate the ground, it will no longer yield its strength to you. You will be a vagabond and a wanderer on the earth. May the Lord add His blessing to the reading from His Word.
Speaker 1:The title of my lesson is the Blood that Still Speaks, the blood that still cries out. Of course, I'm speaking of the blood of Abel that cried out from the ground. Do you realize? This was the first time blood was mentioned in the scripture Not the blood of a sacrifice, but human blood shed in anger in a murderous act. Blood that still cries out over the ages in protest of violent crimes, in protest of the carnal passions of the heart, such as anger, hatred, jealousy that still precipitates violent crimes that lead to murder. Jesus told us on the Sermon on the Mount that murder originates where. Well you know that cries out from the ground. It cries out for justice.
Speaker 1:Why is this story even included in Scripture? Theologians call this a type. It's an actual event, but it's a symbolic story that teaches deeper spiritual lessons. In this actual event we see two types Cain and Abel. Abel is the type or picture of the seed of the woman those who are righteous before God. Seed of the woman those who are righteous before God and yet die violently at the hands of the seed of the serpent, those who reject God, represented by Cain. Thus, abel's blood crying from the ground is the prototype, the picture of all the suffering inflicted on the righteous down through the ages by the seed of the serpent. Now just think of it.
Speaker 1:Think of Saul. After the Spirit of the Lord departed from him, he persecuted and pursued David, who had become the anointed of the Lord and was destined to become the king. Think of Ahab and Jezebel pursuing Elijah, who was the anointed prophet of God. Think of Nebuchadnezzar, who threw Shadrach, meshach and Abednego in the fiery furnace because they refused to worship the golden image of that pagan king. Think of the false prophets who conspired against Daniel and had him thrown into the lion's den him thrown into the lion's den. Think about the prophet Jeremiah, who was falsely accused and then thrown into a muddy cistern to die.
Speaker 1:And the climax of all the ages is seen in the bloody conflict between Satan and Jesus Christ on Calvary. You can imagine Cain's descendants, the Pharisees, pulling out their beards and tearing their clothes when Jesus accurately pointed out you were of your father, the devil. They were of the seed of Satan. And they then demanded his crucifixion, telling Pilate His blood be on us and on our children.
Speaker 1:Just like C back of in the book of Hebrews, the scripture says the blood of Christ speaks better things than that of Abel. The scripture acknowledges that the blood of Abel continues to cry out over the centuries, which cries out for vindication, as does the blood of every innocent victim. Yet the blood of God's precious, most innocent Passover lamb speaks better things For you and I understand that the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sins. 1 John, chapter 1 and verse 7. We have an advocate with the Father, jesus Christ the righteous, who is the propitiation for our sins. Understand clearly, brothers and sisters Jesus is both our lawyer, our intercessor, and the perfect sacrifice. That word propitiation means to conciliate or to sins. He satisfied the violated justice and offended righteousness of God. He is our advocate with the Father, he, jesus Christ the righteous, who is the propitiation for our sins. And again, I submit to you, he is both our lawyer, slash intercessor and the perfect sacrifice. And it is the blood of Jesus Christ that cleanses us from all sins. His blood speaks better things than the blood of righteous Abel, even though the blood of Abel continues to speak.
Speaker 1:Even today, the conflict between the wicked seed of the serpent and the righteous seed of the serpent and the righteous seed of the woman continues. Satan persecutes the church through his wicked offspring all over the world. Today, satan's inexorable march toward the prophetically predicted one-world government is seen all around us in the manipulations of the World Economic Forum and the World Health Organization. Communist and Islamic nations brutally suppress the Christian church. But always remember that the blood of the martyrs is the seed of the church. Seven new Christians sprang up from every drop of blood shed by the enemies of Christ.
Speaker 1:It may seem to be a time of imminent victory for Satan and his wicked seed, but we've read the end of the book and we know for certain that Satan's final defeat is only awaiting the glorious return of the victorious Lord Jesus Christ. So be encouraged in the daily battle against the evil one. For Romans 16 and verse 20 tells us the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Did you catch that? The God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Remember that greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.
Speaker 1:But that's not the end of all the symbolism that's in this couple of scripture verses that we're looking at today. God's punishment of Cain represents the ultimate crushing of the head of the serpent, when he will be forever separated from the presence of God in the lake of fire. Cain was forever driven out from the presence of the Lord. From the presence of the Lord. That's got to be one of the saddest verses in the Bible. But listen to me. In the same way, all those who obey not the gospel of Christ will be punished with everlasting destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his power. Just like Cain, all of those who do not obey the gospel of Christ will be separated away from God in everlasting destruction.
Speaker 1:So let me ask a question why did God not, well, why did God allow Cain to live? Why did he not require blood for blood, life for life? We can only speculate here. Was he to be a perpetual reminder of the awful consequences of sin, especially murder, as he wandered about trying to coax a meager existence from the ground? No doubt the other antediluvian population encountered him from time to time in his wanderings and he was a constant reminder of the horrible consequences of murder. Even today, god allows the seed of the woman, the righteous and God-fearing, to coexist with the seed of the serpent, the wicked and rebellious God-haters. He allows the tares and the wheat, the good seed and the bad seed, to grow together until the time of the harvest, known the way of righteousness but had turned away from the holy commandment delivered unto them is condemnation is condemnation. You see, cain's ultimate fate was condemnation, and the ultimate fate of all who turn away from righteousness once they had known the holy commandment delivered unto them? Their ultimate fate is condemnation.
Speaker 1:The Bible doesn't tell us if Cain ever repented and turned back to God. If he had, I'm confident God would have let us know. But, dear listener, your story is not fully recorded. There is still time for you. What stands between you and God? You? What stands between you and God? Bitterness, anger, jealousy, unforgiveness, stubborn pride, some sin that you are guarding in your heart. The Bible tells us that God resists the proud, but he gives grace to the humble. Humble yourself under the mighty hand of God, to the humble. Humble yourself under the mighty hand of God and he will lift you up. Remember, and I've told you this before it doesn't matter how many steps you have gone in the wrong direction. It only takes one step to get back to God, and that step is confession and repentance. And that step is confession and repentance. That step is God, forgive me, I was wrong and you were right. Please take me back. You're listening to Devotions with Dr Papa.
