MTM - Interview with Laura Scharr..New Developments in Election Integrity
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
If you’ve ever wondered why election trust feels like it’s evaporating, this conversation gets specific fast. Dr. Jackson sits down with Laura Scharr of South Carolina Safe Elections to unpack election integrity concerns that range from voter registration roll accuracy to the security of election databases, electronic poll books, and machine tabulation. We talk through claims of non-citizens appearing on voter rolls, what that could mean for eligibility controls, and why transparency is the missing ingredient that keeps suspicion alive.
We also dig into the policy battles shaping the next steps in election reform: executive orders calling for documentary proof of US citizenship to register, photo voter ID to vote, tighter procedures around mail-in ballots, and stronger voting system certification standards. Laura explains why the SAVE America Act is a flashpoint and why she wants a roll call vote that puts every senator on record. If you care about clean elections, secure elections, and voter eligibility rules, you’ll hear the arguments and the pressure points in plain language.
Then we move from headlines to mechanics: what “tabulators” actually read, why barcode-based ballots raise concerns for some voters, and how redundant safeguards can improve confidence even before bigger reforms happen. Laura lays out a “bank teller approach” to elections: paper backups, independent verification, and robust hand-count audits that serve as a check on machines rather than blind faith in them.

Welcome And Why Trust Collapsed
SPEAKER_04Well, I'm delighted today to have online with me Ms. Laura Sharr, who has been with us in the past, but she's back again today, and she's going to be talking with us about election integrity. So, Miss Laura Shawr, welcome to More Than Medicine.
SPEAKER_03Well, thanks for having me again, Dr. Jackson. Always a pleasure.
SPEAKER_04Well, it's my pleasure to have you. And so a lot of things have happened since we last talked. In fact, just last week, uh President Trump had an uh an address to the whole nation, which by the way was not even carried by some of the major networks. We're trying to bury the truth of some of the things that he had to share. So my listeners hear me all the time. I I want them to hear from you, Miss Laura. Tell us some of the things that that uh President Trump had to share and and some of the new developments in election integrity. Take it away.
Claims Of Foreign Influence And Hacks
SPEAKER_03Okay. Well, I think that there were some things that many of us knew that many other people we've been following for years, right? Yes, right. And many people have never heard of it. But essentially the gist of it was that our election system is highly compromised. And he focused on a few key points that the voter registration rolls, for example, extremely compromised, lots of non-citizens on there. And in fact, I think it was 220 million. In other words, all of the registered database was over in China. China had um taken possession of that at some point. And so there was an issue about the then being able to infiltrate, and of course, foreign involvement and infiltration between many nations that aren't necessarily friendly to us with domestic help. And one of the things that I hadn't heard, which was extremely concerning to me, was that many journalists in the US were being paid by the CCP to influence not only the elections, but people's opinions of Trump and his administration. And so that is highly concerning. Um, in addition to the voter registration lists and roles, the databases being vulnerable, highly vulnerable, and can be hacked by outside um foreign interests or other other interests to affect the election outcomes. Also, he mentioned the electronic poll books were very vulnerable and could be infiltrated easily. And Mark, Mark Wayne Mullen, actually, the day afterward, after Trump spoke, he also talked about the fact that these systems could in fact be, these electronic voting systems could be manipulated to affect the outcome or to be for votes to be changed, I think were his words. And so all these things are something that we've been researching, evaluating. We've looked at the work of great people like Jeff O'Donnell and Ed Solomon and Mark Cook and uh Phil Evans, and they've documented all this now. Um, so this was, I think, the opening salvo. I think this was just the beginning, and there's going to be more. So I would stay tuned, but the key thing is how do we trust that these systems are accurate and truly reflect the will of the people? And here's just one example. Shortly after he had that announcement, New Jersey came out and they admitted that they had 6,600 registered um voters who were non-citizens on their rolls, 400 of which had voted, and 75,000 non-citizens were picked for that were called in for jury duty. And we all know that those jury duty um uh selections are based on the voter rolls.
SPEAKER_04That's right.
SPEAKER_03So this is a system that's dirty and it needs to be fixed.
SPEAKER_04That's right. And and all of this was astounding. I mean, you you and I have been hearing this for the longest time, and we were aware in advance, but I'm confident that there are many people who don't follow these things closely. Who listened to President Trump and it was their first appraisal of how insecure our voting system is. And you know, if if we can't have a secure voting system, you cannot have a secure national. And if we're not trust our boat, then what can we trust about our nation? And and and it just is so appalling to hear him say he's the the chief executive of our nation. And if he's making these allegations, then it's yeah, there's got to be substance to it.
SPEAKER_03Well, he doesn't normally make this stuff up. He normally has, he knows, right? He knows. He knows. And one of the one of the things that is disturbing about the foreign involvement, which they really haven't addressed, and I really don't think we can have safe elections until we get rid of the electronics completely.
SPEAKER_04I agree. I agree.
SPEAKER_03What's interesting is there are executive orders and and um directives out there that restrict the use of Chinese-linked routers, for example, and in Chinese telecom equipment, drones, supply chain components, because of this potential risk. And yet, we're allowing, you know, foreign manufacturers, whether it's Chinese, Taiwan, whatever, um, components in our voting machines and election systems. So why are they not applying that same logic to our voting systems that record and scan and tabulate and transmit and report our votes? Like this is a head scratcher. And so that after what he said, and he and Mark Wayne Mullen, I think we have to question like, why are we using systems that are manufactured from potentially uh foreign adversaries? So that needs to be addressed.
SPEAKER_04It makes no sense. Well, I mean, if you're not going to utilize Chinese-made products for your military, why would you use them for your elections? Exactly. It makes the leader of the free world. It makes absolutely no sense. And and yet and yet we've been doing that for years. Right. Any third grader can tell you that our election system has been compromised by our greatest enemy.
SPEAKER_03And and the bottom line is the point is that we just don't trust anymore. Like we don't even at this point, like we don't have to prove the fraud. They have to prove that the system is free from it. And they won't, because they won't even, they're not transparent. And I think what Trump is uh you got to give him credit because he is making some he he has been trying. So he issued two executive orders, one in March 25th of 25, and the
Executive Orders And Federal Standards
SPEAKER_03other one was March 31st of this year. And they're all trying to um tell the states and direct the states we need documentary proof of citizenship for people to register to vote. We need photo ID for people to vote. We need to have enforcement of this, we need to have databases that are verifying the veracity of the data. We need accountability here. And he he's even tried to call for the because he has um a federal agency, USPS, the United States Postal Service. He does, he has established um a directive there for them to have guidelines and procedures for mail-in ballots and state-specific mail-in and absentee participation lists. So essentially, he wants the federal government to come up with a um a list of confirmed US citizens that are 18 and over, who are domiciled in each state, and that this will be updated no fewer than 60 days prior to a federal election. And then um he wants uh then no fewer than 90 days, um, the state must notify the post office if they're going to allow these absentee or mailing ballots. And they then, 60 days prior, get to check to see if the mailing list is actually matching with the list that the feds have of eligible voters. That's right. Now, this is being contested right now legally, but he's trying.
SPEAKER_04But multiple. Every time he does it, they ignore it. Multiple Democrat states are contesting this.
SPEAKER_03Why? 23, yeah. Because they want, they want foreign, they want the citizens to be voting. It's how they're winning. That's my theory, anyway. You're right.
SPEAKER_04You're exactly right.
SPEAKER_03This is why it's gonna it's gonna end up going to the supreme court. Um, there was a there was a legal opinion today from the DC court saying, well, let's just continue with this until it gets until it happens, but it's gonna end up in the Supreme Court.
SPEAKER_02Yep, it will.
SPEAKER_03And the other thing that his first DO did was eliminate the barcodes and QR codes, which basically says handmarked paper ballots. And they ignored that. And the other thing he did was he just recently fired the entire board of the EAC, the Election Assistance Commission.
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_03Uh, three Democrats and one Republican was allowed to resign. And I thought that was pretty interesting because they hadn't been doing their job. Yeah, they were basically sitting on increasing uh revising the certification standards to enhance them, which was part of that first EO. They were kind of dragging their feet on that, and they were not um trying to get some electronic voting system certified um to these new standards. So everything was kind of in this um, it was just sitting in uh um in nowhere land. And so he did the right thing by firing them. And we hope that the new board will create a new sense of um, you know, responsibility and will create new standards and basically allow reset for the entire system.
SPEAKER_04And allow us to have confidence in our elections.
SPEAKER_03Exactly. And the third thing he's doing, and this is a thing that really irritates me, gosh, it gets me so mad. Um, he is pressuring the Senate to pass the Save America Act. Now, I think this is probably the one of the most important things. It's the it's it's probably the precursor of other things, but I think it's very necessary. Now, the House has passed the Save America Act, and I have to say it is not the Save Act. It is that is a separate bill. This is now the Save America Act. There's been it's been revised and there's been things added to it, and it's now a different bill number. It's the Save America Act, and that's called the Safeguard American Vote Eligibility America Act. So it's basically trying to see that since they're ignoring his EOs, he's saying, okay, I'm gonna take what I want in this
SAVE America Act And Roll Call Push
SPEAKER_03EO, which is essentially documentary proof of U.S. citizenship and a photo ID and databases that are ensuring that this is occurring. Um, and I want to put it in a federal bill so that Congress can pass it, and you have to follow it. And the House passed this, but the Senate, and I think John Foon said today he has talked to 20 to 22 of the senators and they're not on board. Now, this is insane because even the Democrats, uh, I think the majority of them, simple majority of them, are for it. Republicans are probably for it. Independence, this is something that has a high favorability rating. People want it so badly, and yet the Senate is dragging their feet. This is horrible. It is a travesty. And they won't even call a vote, like just to get a simple vote. I want the people on record, I want a roll call.
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_03And this is an action step that people can take. They can call their senator and John Thunan specifically and say, listen, we want, we don't care if you don't think you have the votes. We want you to call this vote because we want to know who's not for elections that are clean, that have clean data.
SPEAKER_04Yep, yep. We want to know who's for it and who's against it. That's right. Exactly right. And so, listeners, you're out there. You call your senator and tell them to pass the SAVE Act. Then you call John Thune and tell him we want a roll call vote. We want to know who's for it, or know who's against it, and tell all your family and friends to do the same thing. Because listen, these senators will not see the light until they feel the heat. So give them a call and call them repeatedly and have all your friends and neighbors call them. Because I'm telling you, they will not see the light until they feel the heat.
SPEAKER_03That's right. And it's really this is the typical deep state tactic. They just try to string things along, delay, delay, delay. They let the time run out so that Trump is now in a situation where he is um in and you know, and his time is running out, and and he can't really affect change. And so this is what we don't want to happen. We want this to be passed at least as the first step towards true election reform. It won't fix everything and at least fix the voter registration piece and the voter validation piece to some extent.
SPEAKER_04Exactly right. And the sooner it's done, the better.
SPEAKER_03And why is this controversial? Why is this controversial? It aligns with the Constitution.
SPEAKER_04It's not controversial for most right-thinking, God-fearing Americans. You know, it's only for those who want to taint the elections and manipulate the elections. All right. Well, look, uh tell us again, tell us exactly what we need to do as American citizens to make things right in the election process.
Gold Standard Fixes And Local Pressure
SPEAKER_03Okay. Well, we obviously advocate the gold standard, which is citizens only, elections with verified eligibility, photo ID with documentary proof of U.S. citizenship for you know, registration, and then obviously a photo ID when you come to vote. Um, we want voter registration databases with no uh real-time internet access. So an Excel spreadsheet, let's say, one-day in-person voting, uh, limited absentee, which um kind of feeds into this um second EO where he's trying to limit the mail and voting, small precincts. Like here's one thing people could do call your South Carolina legislator and say, listen, by law, we're supposed to have precincts that are 1,500 or less registered, registered, qualified uh registrants, right? And um many of the precincts way exceed that because of early voting. And that's the other thing. We got to get rid of early voting. But let's keep these precincts small so that if we have some legislation passed, we can, in fact, you know, federally, or there's an EO that we can hand count um paper poll books. Here's something that I think there was recently a hundred-day plan that was put out by Tina Peters and some other folks. And what they're advocating just for the short term, because we can't fix this all by the midterms, right? But we can do some things. So, for example, we can use paper poll books as a backup to the e-poll books. That way we can check them against what's happening and we can not have jumps in the e-poll book, which is what we've seen in some places. Um, I know this happened in Texas to a friend of mine, and actually recently at someone in South Carolina, but saw a huge jump after he was there 10 minutes to seven, the next day he checked, and there were an awful lot of people that voted in 10 minutes, which didn't seem to make sense for him. For paper poll book backup, um, we would love to hand count as a backup. If they're not going to get rid of the tabulators now and we're gonna feed our ballots or hand part, even if it's hand marked ballots into the tabulators, we need a people, and and what we're advocating is a second team of people to go in after the first team. So the first team of election workers just conducts the election with the voters. The second team comes in and their whole goal is to just hand count. And so this is what they're advocating is uh redundant poll books, redundant counting methods, and um and so and we call it the bank teller approach, right? So when you go into the bank, you get cash, that's right, and they're gonna have a counter, there's like a little machine that counts the bills, right?
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_03And then what does the teller do? She counts it.
SPEAKER_02That's right.
SPEAKER_03It's a second redundant, and then you count it, right?
SPEAKER_02Exactly.
SPEAKER_03And so we're just saying, do the same thing for our vote, which in a way is a you know, it's a currency thing. So I think what people need to do, like we said, is um call up your Congress, your senator, and John Foon and say, pass the Save America Act. Like, or if you can't pass it, at least we want the vote on record. So, and what I'm concerned about right now is that they're gonna water it down, they're gonna put it in this the reconciliation uh bill, and they're gonna try to pass that, and then they're gonna pat themselves on the back and go, look what we did, but it's gonna be a watered-down version, and that's not optimal. But ask them to pass the Save America Act as is. Then we need people to call their um local uh representative here in South Carolina, um, and you know, your rep as well as your senator, and say that we want you to pass the equivalent of the Save America Act here in South Carolina. There actually was a senator who had like that version for South Carolina and it never even got a hearing last year. That's insane. So pass it both federally and at the state level. And then we need to put pressure on the state uh legislators for this new session to pass prudent election integrity bills. So if we're gonna keep those tabulators, we want hand-count audits and they better be robust. And let me tell you something 5% is not enough. So we want maybe 100, 50 to 100% of those races, all of them hand counted in additional to the tabulation, if you're not gonna get rid of those tabulators. And of course, we always recommend hand-counted, handmarked paper ballots, but until there's some sort of an emergency or some major pressure, it's not gonna happen. So I think that those are the big, big things that people can do is just to keep hounting them and saying, this is important. I believe that these things are vulnerable. I'm concerned, what are you
Barcode Tabulators And Redundant Counts
SPEAKER_03doing about it?
SPEAKER_04Now, when you say tabulators, you're talking about the electronic voting machines.
SPEAKER_03Tabulator is what you put your ballot in that actually counts it. But in South Carolina, it counts, it actually scans and reads the barcode. So it doesn't read the actual um selections you've made. So you might look at that ballot and go, well, I selected uh Dr. Jackson and Lar Shar and I see their names there. But then what the machine actually reads is the barcode on top. And we're not allowed to confirm that those barcodes are actually consistent with our selections. It could be programmed to switch those barcodes one every five votes or two every five votes. And so even Professor Halderman, who um has been, who's a Democrat actually, he's advocating for getting rid of the tabulators because they they are in fact vulnerable. And so this is why we need either a redundant method to check against the tabulators or to remove them specifically. And that's part of our gold standard is hand-counted, hand-marked paper ballots. And we have to continue to ask for that because that's a people-centered system. It is people, paper, pens. We need to have a vote, uh, an election for the people, by the people. Right now we have far too many third parties involved, and now apparently foreign involvement. So I think we're going to see more coming out. And I also encourage people to join um our Substack newsletter or um, you know, our Telegram channel, all that's on our website, how to link up, because I will, you know, we we're constantly bringing breaking news and we'll try to sort it out for them because we know people don't have time to really follow all this.
How To Follow Updates And Spread Awareness
SPEAKER_04And how do they follow you and your organization, Miss Laura?
SPEAKER_03Well, they can go to scsafeelection.org, scsafelections.org.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_03Or and and at that website, they can join our Substack newsletter, and there's a link to our telegram channel. They can also follow me on X at Laura Shar, L-A-U-R-A, S-C-H-A-R-R. And one of the best things that they can do is actually like re-retweet me and other things, like a part of the problem or in the situation we are is not enough people have woken up to the fact that this is an infiltrated system, it's a vulnerable system. The more that people that are aware, the more likely we are to get true change. So we're just trying to increase awareness. That's been one of our goals. So if you can retweet me or other election integrity people, it and it spreads awareness. Talk to your friends, talk to your family. Um, and of course, impress upon your local representative and senator that this is an entirely important um issue for you. And now we have an election season, right? Yeah. So these people are gonna want to do, uh at least say they're gonna do something for the people. So impress upon them that this is one of your number one issues because if we don't elect the right people, and this is why I focus on elections and not other issues, because everything falls from this. If we elect principled people, we're gonna get principled bills, and we're gonna that we're gonna have people do the right thing for our local communities, for our state, and for our country.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So it all it all falls on um a clean election system so we can keep our representative form of government.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_04Well, many of us have believed for a a while now that that our election elections lack integrity. And as Donald Trump has said, elections have been rigged, and a lot of us have believed that. And we haven't trusted even our local elections. And so my listeners, you need to follow what Ms. Laura Shore has been telling us. You need to talk to your elected representatives. You need to demand paper and pen and people. And we need a redundant system to ensure that our elections have integrity. But our our our representatives are are are not going to do this unless you hound them and demand that we have a paper system with pen, paper, and people to count the votes and not trust the tabulators as she calls them. And and it's up to you and me. If we don't demand it, it's not going to happen.
SPEAKER_03And we'll have a new session and hopefully new bills out there. And one of the things that if you join our Substack newsletter or you're on our telegram channel, we can let you know when we're going to go down to the statehouse and kind of have a hearing for one of these bills. So you can attend with us and you know when they see all those people sitting out there kind of demanding uh people to then to proceed. That that goes a long way. So um it does. It puts pressure on them.
SPEAKER_04And like I said, they don't see the light until they feel the heat. And it's up to you and me to to light the fire and put the heat to them and demand that this is something that we as the voters want to see. All right, we got about one more minute, Miss Laura. Tell me what what I want to close with.
Dark Money Funding And Media Propaganda
SPEAKER_03The other thing I just wanted to bring up, and I think this is gonna be something that's coming up in the news, is that um the way that our elections are funded, because there's that smurfing that's going on, and that is really a travesty where you have kind of fake donations that are coming in from all kinds of foreign entities, foreign countries and and just some dark money.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And I think you're gonna see that that's gonna break soon because they're doing investigations right now into that. And I think a lot of a lot of politicians are gonna have some problems soon because they were being funded in an inappropriate way, like through money laundering.
SPEAKER_04Oh, and and our media.
SPEAKER_03Yes, our media is corrupt. And by the way, very quickly, they're allowed to lie to us. The Smith Munt Restorization Act that Obama put in place in 2012 allows the media and the government to basically lie, propagandize Americans. So this is a problem. We need to restore the original Smith Munt Act, which did not allow them to do that.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I agree with that. And there's no doubt that they have been misleading and propagandizing us for a long time. And it's very discouraging when the media doesn't tell us the truth. And and you know, they were uh during the some of the last uh elections, uh, they were feeding us propaganda about the elections, and it just, you know, it it chaps me to no end when I find out about that. And President Trump revealed uh a certain extent of that in his remarks.
SPEAKER_03Yes, that was tr that was probably the most troubling part for me, that an American citizen would take money from a foreign enemy and use that to prop to to use to to put forth propaganda to um the American people. That just it's disgusting what people will do for money. They just have no patriotism, they don't care about their country. And and the fact that we have these foreign entities, whether it's China, Venezuela, Cuba, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera, trying to impact our elections so they can get their people in, it's totally disturbing. And that should chill everybody.
SPEAKER_04To me, it's treasonous that they would uh uh do that and be allowed to get away with that. Um, you know, I uh that's not a First Amendment privilege, that's treasonous.
SPEAKER_03Exactly. We want to see um accountability there, we want to see those people brought to justice. I agree because we're tired of this. It's ridiculous.
SPEAKER_04I agree. All right, all
