Ever feel like you’re living a life drafted by someone else’s expectations? We dive straight into the turbulence of identity—why happiness is impossible when you wear borrowed labels, how the “herd” keeps us compliant, and what it really takes to reclaim the self that’s been whispering beneath the noise. From the first pangs of disorientation to the steady relief of alignment, we map a path from human doing to human being.

I share why autonomy and sovereignty aren’t buzzwords but muscles we build with small, honest acts—saying what you like, choosing work that fits, or stepping away from roles that suffocate. We talk about free will as a spiritual lever, the courage to face the mirror without lies, and the loneliness that often signals you’re leaving the matrix of fear, shame, and guilt. Along the way, we weave in quotes from Oscar Wilde, Shakespeare, Nietzsche, and Desmond Tutu to ground this awakening in philosophy and community—pairing Ubuntu’s “I am because we are” with the personal responsibility of owning your choices.

If you’ve felt like a stranger to your own life, you’ll get practical prompts to list what’s true for you now, identify the labels you’re ready to drop, and take one small step toward congruence. We also explore a faith-forward lens: made in the image of a Creator, you are a creator in action, and your purpose clarifies as your identity aligns with truth. Expect candor, compassion, and a clear route out of the loop that keeps slapping new identities on an old script. Listen, reflect, and then tell us the one act of sovereignty you’ll take this week. If this resonates, subscribe, share with a friend who needs it, and leave a review to help others find their way home to themselves.

Identity. I have many sides, but which one is the original? I go by many different names, but which one is mine? I hear so many voices that my own was lost in echoes years ago. My memories feel like that of a stranger's. I can't even seem to remember people I'm supposed to know. And I feel like I'm going crazy. Yet to others it's all just a show. My heart is going numb from all the pain it feels constantly. And it seems that the more I'm searching, the more I'm losing myself entirely. Oh buddy, do you feel like you're going crazy today? Do you feel like you just are on a different planet? And there are people that you used to know that don't even seem like you know them anymore. Welcome in to the Ascension Journey. Destination unknown, suffering abounds, and yes, freedom comes in like waves. But baby, what an incredible roller coaster ride it is. So click the like button and join me on this transformative ascension journey to awaken and rewrite our narratives and live lives of purpose and passion. And oh my goodness, are you feeling this energy flowing in? Are you feeling like you can't get enough sleep? Is your skin breaking out? Are you uh feeling like you can't stop your mind some days? And some days you feel like you are just completely out of your mind, which is actually where we want to be. Do you feel like the people that have always been in your life seem like strangers? And suddenly do strangers seem to be the ones identifying with you? It's as if the world has shifted completely upside down and gone crazy, right? Well, that is how the ascension journey often feels. And one of the aspects of this journey is learning to discover the true happiness of becoming the you you always knew was inside. It is absolutely impossible to obtain true happiness unless we base our sense of identity upon the truth of who we actually are. So it's very important to know your identity, or others will continue to define it for us, right? So today we are on day ten of a twelve-part series about deepening our authenticity. And I took the word authenticity and I made it an acrostic, and we took the first letter of that word, and we are on day 10, and today we're going to talk about identity. And first I wanna I want to go ahead and define what the word identity is. It's a set of qualities, beliefs, personality traits, appearances or expressions that characterize a person or a group, which distinguishes them from others. It encompasses both inherent attributes and those shaped by societal and cultural influences. The etymology or the origin of that word, the root is identast, which comes from the Latin meaning sameness, and it, which means the state or condition of. So it's the state or condition of sameness. For example, you and I are all human beings. That is the sameness about us, and that is where our sameness ends. Because each of us human beings are absolutely unique and different from one another, although we are in that same species. Okay. Now, I want to also talk about how our identities, why is it so important? Because all of us, especially those of us free to beers, we just want to be who we are. And thus we're seeking out podcasts like Free to Just Be. Why? Because we have had our perceptions of reality changed. We have woken up to the fact that society has been imposing an identity on us. And our identities are based on the way we look, or how much we earn or where we live, or the color of our skin, or if we're liberal, or if we're conservative, if we believe in being a Republican or a Democrat. And these are the identities that they paste on us. And those of us that have begun to awaken or are awakened, we struggle within this matrix, this third dimension that we live in, this duality. Why? Because it has to do with an identity that's been imposed on us. And we know that we know that this identity that they have slapped on us is not who we are. And this is where all of our suffering, being in a matrix or being in a construct, comes from. So it begins really. I mean, when we're in this construct, when when we are following the program, we're not suffering. We're pretty happy-go-lucky because we are following the herd. But when we suddenly awaken to the fact that, man, there's lots of hoofs going the same direction. And I don't really want to go there. I want to go the opposite way. Or I want to go to the left or to the right. And that's when suddenly everybody around us starts saying, no, go this way, go this way. And inside we're going, but I don't want to go that way. And it starts by you continue to go that way. But inside you're going, oh, I don't like this, but I'm going. I don't want to go this way, but I'm going. I'm not going to go this way. Oh, but I have to. I'm not going to go this way. And I'm going to call out. I'm going to go this way. I'm not going to go this way. Do you see there's this battle, this continuum of I want to become who I know I am. Oh no, this is who you are, right? So you see, identity cannot be fabricated, but it begins to emerge from within when you have the courage to let go. Let go of what? Oh, well, the status quo, the programming, and a biggie is all the others that are continuing to go with the herd are now going to judge you because you're not. And all of that takes incredible courage. So we have to, you know, begin before we even get into how we become who we truly are, we have to look at what we're in. We are in a an illusion where most people are other people. Literally. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives are a mimicry, and their passions aren't truly their own, they are literally quotations of others. This is a concept that Oscar Wilde introduced decades ago. And it truly is, it truly is an incredible place to be right now. And it is a place of massive struggle. And truly, it should be that we recognize that we are the creators of our lives. We are the authors of our own reality. Now, another part of identity that we have to remember is that it is impossible to fully obtain true happiness unless we are basing our sense of identity upon the truth of who we are. So that's why it becomes uber important to know your identity, because otherwise others will continue to define it for you. Thus, what Shakespeare said, to thine own self be true. What does that mean? I like the color red. Well, red is a horrible color and nobody should wear it. But I like the color red and I don't care what anybody else thinks, I am gonna wear the color red. That's the radical way we have to become. We have to stand up against the herd mentality, the matrix programming, the wake-up call to who we are. We have to step into autonomy, into our sovereignty. What is that? It is having the freedom to act and make your own decisions, informed, uncoerced, self-governing decisions, and to act according to your own authentic reasons, values, or desires. There's the word authentic again. And what does authentic mean? Real or genuine, not false or copied. But that is very, very scary to those that are in the herd mentality. And many of them will find it much simpler. Those that don't want to awaken, uh, it could be fear, which is the main, that is the main um energy of the matrix. Fear and um lies. Fear, fear, shame, guilt, all of the lowest vibrations, that's what they feed upon. That's how they control us. So when you're courageous enough to step away from that and recognize that you are a self-governing, autonomous person that has a very unique set of qualities, personality traits, expressions, you have the ability to discover your own specific identity. Yes, you are a human being, but right now, within this matrix herd mentality system, you are human doing. You are human doing what you were told, you are a human doing the identity slapped on you, you are a human doing what everybody else does. And you are in some way, shape, or form deciding right now if you want to continue being a human doing and following the herd. It's it's a lot simpler. There are many days where I think I wish I didn't know all that I know. I wish Pandora's box didn't open, and now I'm on this freaking awakening journey. I just want to go back to sleep. Sleep is easy. Sleep is a fast-paced course towards death. And if you don't want to die and just finish out your life in a vanilla, very um uh what would the word be, mediocre way of living, then have at it. Keep your head in the sand. But for the majority of humanity, ville, we are beginning to recognize that government has way too much control, that we have been told how to live, and we are sick and tired of being told that we cannot be ourselves. And that is when we begin to wake up to the reality that nobody is going to give us back our identity. We have to fight for it. We have to learn how to become a seeker of our truth. We have to learn that we're not going to obtain any of this on the outside. No, we have to go way deep inside and uncover our true identity. We are responsible for discovering he or she. We have to remember and realize and wake up to the fact that we are the creators of our lives, the authors of our own reality. And we begin to identify and start to stand upon our own beliefs, thoughts, intentions, and feelings that we choose to focus on. We begin to recognize that we were given free will, unlike any other creation in the entire universe. And with that free will, we can choose to turn our backs on this matrix and go inside and literally move away all of the programs, false beliefs, childhood traumas, and recognize that we're not our past. We are not the identity slapped on us. We are sovereign, autonomous beings that can self-govern ourselves, and we can lose the mind of the matrix, and we can discover our self-consciousness, and then eventually enter into Christ's consciousness, lose our mind and discover the mind of Christ. That is where we're heading. We don't know what it looks like, we don't know what it feels like, but if we're courageous enough, we can certainly remove the veils of unconsciousness and become our sovereign self. So what do we do? We define ourselves radically, ooh, radically as one loved by God. This is our true self. The way our creator God, it it's, you know, people talk about this silly um uh analogy, but it's very effective. If you had a major issue with your engine, would you take your engine to a surgeon, a heart surgeon? No, of course you wouldn't. Just like you would not go to a mechanic that can fix your car engine to fix your heart. Why would we go anywhere else but to our creator God when we have questions about who we really are? He created us. Do you not understand that the way he sees us, the way he speaks of us in the Word of God, yes, maybe it's twisted here or there, but the basic premises that are in that book tell us who we are. Every other identity is part of the matrix illusion. So that's the that's where we need to begin. And we need to get to the place that we understand that the reason they are trying to define our identity is why. If we recognize that we were made in the image of God and that we are like him in many, many ways, that we are creators in action just like him, that we have a lot of the same powers of God. We are not God with a capital G, we are little versions of Him. They don't want us to know that, and we certainly don't want to know our purpose. But when we begin to identify who we truly are, then who we are connects with the reason that we're here, and oh buddy, suddenly society cannot impose their identity on us anymore, and we won't struggle so much in the matrix. So, knowledge of one's identity, oneself and God, that is the true meaning of real life. That is working out our salvation, that is going inside and resurrecting the you that you've always known is in there. Because identity cannot be found or fabricated. But where does it come from? It emerges from within us when we have the courage to let go of all of this programming, the false belief, when we heal ourselves from our childhood traumas. Nietzsche said the individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by society or the quote unquote tribe. If you try it, in other words, if you go against what everybody else is doing, it'll be lonely very often, and it will sometimes be frightening. But there is no price too high to pay from the privilege of owning yourself. So I want to encourage you today. Have you discovered who you truly are? What is your identity? It's not your past, it's not your childhood trauma, it's not the future that they tell you you're supposed to have. Inside you, there is the true you. And even now, as I'm speaking it, you are identifying areas that you already know that you have not revealed to anybody. I want you to take out a pen and paper right now, pull over in your car if you're listening while you're driving, and just jot those down right now. I have never liked this, I love this. I want to do this, I do not want to do that. Whatever comes up to the surface right now as I'm talking about who you truly are. You know, Tony Robbins said, identity is this incredible, invisible force that controls your whole life. It's invisible like gravity, but it controls your whole life. Inside, right now, you know what you'd prefer to do every day. You know the type of job that you would love. You know the relationship that you would like to have. You know the people that you want to be around, you know the pieces of knowledge you want to pursue. Maybe there is somebody out there, a preacher or a motivational speaker that you've always wanted to follow or check out, but your friend group made fun of that person or what have you. And inside you're going, you know what? I'm gonna do that. Well, maybe on your awakening journey, you start to do it covertly. In other words, when nobody's looking, you're starting to pursue. And you think you're just pursuing knowledge that you know that you you don't want anybody else to know about. That right there, my dear ones, is the you that really is you saying, please, please go with me, go with me, flow, flow, let's go, let's go. So today, if your identity isn't secure enough that when somebody walks away from you, they don't take you with them. Oh, let me explain here for a minute. For example, you mothers out there, maybe your identity, like most mothers, was being a mother. And suddenly all of your children have left the nest, and you are crushed, you don't even know who you are anymore. That is a prime example of an identity crisis. Maybe you are the husband who always struggled in a marriage. You didn't feel like you were with the person you were supposed to be with, and you stayed because of the children, and now the children are all gone, and you are lost. You have nothing to say to your wife because you never really had a relationship, and now you don't know what to do. It could very well be that your true self is saying, please, can we discover us instead of being under the bondage of being in this relationship that has been dead from the starting gates? This is this is incredibly, excruciatingly painful pieces of suffering as we begin this awakening journey. It takes courage to look at yourself in the mirror and recognize that you have been lying to yourself. Sitting in front of that mirror is what everybody and their brother wants to avoid because it is the most painful and yet the most awakening part of the evolution of our souls. Because the first person you have to stop lying to in order to discover your true identity is you, the true meaning of real life is working out your salvation because truly you are already free inside. But the first thing you have to do is discover for you what is holding you in bondage. Is it your own view of yourself? Is it your insistent concern and worry about what others think of you? Is it living out vicariously a dream of your parents when it wasn't ever your dream to begin with? I want to close with a couple of thoughts for us to really see the sit and pause and ponder with. Maybe use it for a meditation before you go to bed tonight. And this is that this is the thought I wanna let you think about. Because we are created in the image of God, we cannot truly know our true identity apart from Him. Maybe you have been going to everybody else trying to discover what to do on this ascension journey, except God. Maybe that's the place that you need to start. Another thought I want you to think about again is Nietzsche, who said the individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by society or the tribe. Because if you try it, you will be lonely. Maybe you don't want to be lonely, and sometimes you will be scared. But I want you to consider that no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself. There is a beautiful, unique individual underneath all those veils of unconsciousness. And uh Desmond Tutu talked about Ubuntu, which is an African philosophy of humanity to others, or the belief that I am because we are, which emphasizes interconnectedness, community, and the belief that a person's humanity is shaped through their relationships with others. So he said, Desmond Tutu said, a person with Ubuntu is available to others, for they have self-assurance that comes from knowing they belong in a great, a greater whole. In order for us to be one with one another, it begins with being one with ourself, with identifying who we are, with knowing beyond the shadow of a doubt that if everybody around us walks away, we can still stand in our own truth because we know who we are and we know who we belong to, and that is our incredible Creator God. So today, if you're feeling the struggle of this ascension journey, and make no mistake, the awakening journey is not only the greatest and most exciting, but it is the most daunting, most frightening, most lonely, and will cause the most suffering. But it is a journey of freedom, authenticity, and coming home to our true self. Are you willing? Are you able? And have you chosen that incredible price? And are you paying it for the privilege of knowing not only yourself, but the God that created you and asked you to come to the planet for such a time as this? And by the way, you raised both of your hands, and so now don't you think it's time that you head back inside and figure out what it is that you're here to do? Because if you don't, you're gonna end up being on this continuum of the cycle of the matrix, and you'll return again and have a label of identity slapped on you that was fabricated for you, and then you have to go through all the suffering again to discover that it was society who imposed on you because they wanted to control you, and now you got to work that all out again and get back to your sovereign self. So pause and think about it. Do you know your identity? And are you willing and able to step back into it? Because when we do, that's when we all get what I close with every show, and that would be peace.
