Faith Forward: Charlie Kirk's Legacy and the Spiritual Battle
The murder of Charlie Kirk has awakened a sleeping giant in the Christian community. After a year and a half away from podcasting, this powerful return episode dives deep into the spiritual battle raging around us and what it means for believers in today's polarized world.
Scripture provides our foundation as we explore Isaiah 5:20-21, which warns against calling evil good and good evil – a prophetic caution that resonates profoundly in our current climate where truth is distorted and manipulated. The podcast examines Erica Kirk's extraordinary display of forgiveness toward her husband's murderer, demonstrating genuine Christian faith that flows from Jesus's own words on the cross. This forgiveness doesn't eliminate consequences but releases the forgiver from bitterness and reflects the spiritual maturity believers should aspire to.
A crucial revelation emerges when examining the disappointing reactions of many Christians to former President Trump's admission that he struggles to forgive his enemies. The misplaced expectation that political leaders should provide perfect spiritual guidance misunderstands both Trump's role and God's consistent pattern of working through flawed individuals. From Moses to Paul, scripture reveals that God routinely accomplishes His purposes through imperfect vessels.
The spiritual war demands community engagement, not just individual faith. Empty pews represent missed opportunities to strengthen the body of Christ against very real demonic forces. The Great Commission calls us not merely to bring people to Christ but to make disciples who multiply the message. This multiplier effect is how the church grows and flourishes even in hostile environments.
Ready to honor Charlie Kirk's legacy? Start by showing up – physically in church, intellectually in pursuit of truth, and spiritually in your commitment to authentic discipleship. The path forward requires speaking truth even when unpopular and building community even when inconvenient. Join us in carrying forward what Charlie started.

Speaker 1:Welcome to the Buddyford Junior Show. We got a lot to catch up on. This is my first podcast in a year and a half. Charlie Kirk's death, his murder, has inspired me to get back out there and to share my journey that I've been on for the last five years, but in particular the last year and a half, as I have been putting my podcast on the sideline in addition to running my restaurants and spending some quality time with my family.
Speaker 1:I've really gone down a deep path of studying scripture, from taking courses at Hillsdale College to reading literature. That includes CS Lewis, mind-blowing and just diving into the Bible and making sure that I've not only read the Bible in its entirety, which I have a couple times, but really studying the Word. And studying the Bible I learned there's a difference between reading it and studying it. So, in the spirit of and in his just, unapologetic faith, I am stepping forward myself and want to dive in and share my journey, and I hope more of us do it. Whether you get 20 listeners, 200 listeners or 2,000 listeners, if a million of us get out there we can help advance what Charlie has started the evangelist of our generation, a completely mind-blowing 31-year-old man that I've been listening to since his inception, and watching his faith and his wisdom just live out in front of our eyes on video and our ears on podcasts has just been completely mind-blowing to me. And he's gone and he's not doing it, which means we have to pick up that mantle and carry it. No one else will do it. We need to do it. No one else will do it. We need to do it.
Speaker 1:So I want to just start by diving into a part of the scripture. We're going to go over Erica Kirk's forgiveness of the murder, trump's response, which is completely opposite of that, and then Christian's response to Trump as they're looking for their spiritual leadership. I'm going to debunk that that's not going to happen as well as the demonic realm just on full display before us. It's biblical, it's happening and we have got to have courage and we have got to move forward and we've got to speak the truth. We've got to speak the truth. Charlie got murdered for the truth. We've got the demonic left. I call them the demonic left. You can go to TrumpsGonnaWincom. That's my website. I built during the campaign his first campaign and then we launched it during his second campaign and I really framed it as a spiritual battle. You hear a lot of Christians talking about spiritual battles. I'd like to go over that on this podcast, not necessarily today, but unpack it as we move forward.
Speaker 1:First and foremost, I just want to read you Isaiah. I'm blown out of the world by Isaiah, the book of Isaiah, which prophesizes and just, is completely trying to get the Jewish community back on the right track, back on the right Jewish community, back on the right track, back on the right path, back on the right God highway, right. And then you have Jeremiah that follows that and my pastor, scott. He says buddy, every book's your favorite and he's not wrong. Based on where I am, I do get excited about it.
Speaker 1:But this particular verse over the last two years has really resonated with me, and it's Isaiah 5, 20 and 21. This is the NIV version, the New International Version. Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. I want to read that again. Woe to those who call evil good and good evil. Does that sound familiar? Woe to those who call evil good and good evil.
Speaker 1:You can see AOC, jasmine Crockett and other political leaders, as well as community members, including church members, depicting Charlie Kirk as a racist and anti-Semite, among other false claims. That is calling good evil folks. Now let's go further, to 521. Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight. Those same people that I mentioned AOC, jasmine, crockett, the squad and other political leaders are believing on their own wisdom without going and listening to Charlie Kirk. Folks, listen, that is demonic. This is a spiritual battle and I want to explain what that means in a minute. But here's the deal. Charlie Kirk is one person. Instead of all the bombardments we got over the past four years, we finally have one lie that we can dive into. Go out there and listen to Charlie Kirk's podcasts. Watch his videos. Black men are standing up for him.
Speaker 1:For those of you that are listening to this that you think Charlie Kirk is a racist, you're wrong. You're going to be on the wrong side of history, but I'm afraid you're also going to be on the wrong side of this spiritual battle, wrong side of history, but I'm afraid you're also going to be on the wrong side of this spiritual battle. Charlie Kirk was not a racist. Charlie Kirk did not have a problem with the civil rights movement. Let me back up real quick when I say he didn't have a problem with the civil rights movement. What I mean is he specifically has a problem that today people are using the civil rights movement that was for the black communities as a method of getting their own rights. For transgender athletes, for example, in women's sports, men competing women's sports are using the 1965 civil rights movement for their agenda. That's the problem we had with it, and you are getting the wrong information and you're getting sound bites, a number of issues that have been um soundtracked for the purpose of manipulation, which is demonic, which I just read in isaiah 20 and 21.
Speaker 1:Now let me pivot. Let me pivot to the memorial of Charlie Kirk and Erica Kirk's forgiveness of Charlie's murderer and what that means to the Christian world. Okay, listen, this has been Charlie. He wanted to save young men, just like the one who took his life. That young man, that young man, that young man On the cross, our Savior said Father, forgive them, for they not know what they do. That man, that man, that young man, I forgive him. Wow, that is powerful.
Speaker 1:Now, just because you forgive somebody doesn't mean it's forgotten, doesn't mean they don't face judgment. Forgiveness is for the sake of our own, our own spiritual soul, our own spiritual journey and for our own relationship with Jesus and our creator. Matthew 18, 23 to 35 dives into this. For those who, for those who are forgiven much by God, must also forgive. And then Peter asked Christ a question about how much to forgive. He goes is seven times enough. Right Is seven times enough. No, it's not. It's not. I mean, we have to forgive and forgive, and forgive and forgive. Jesus ties forgiveness to love. He who is forgiven little loves little. That's Luke 7.47.
Speaker 1:I don't want to bore everyone out there with biblical quotes, but this is a demonic spiritual battle and we have to understand them. Jesus reveals that God's nature is merciful and forgiving, which is Luke 15, 11 and 32. Forgiveness breaks the cycle. Instead of vengeance and bitterness, forgiveness frees both the wronged and the offender. Matthew 5, 38 and 48. Okay, that is an incredible spiritual connection that Erica Kirk has with her creator. That's an incredible lesson for the world. Okay, I don't have that. I don't have that level of depth at this stage of my journey. I don't.
Speaker 1:Trump then gets on and he says I can't forgive my enemies. Ben gets on and he says I can't forgive my enemies, and I've talked to pastors and Christians in the past 24 hours that are taking major, major offense to that, and I've been into debates. I'm blown out of the water that we continue to look to Trump for spiritual guidance. Folks, it's not going to happen. We need to guide Trump spiritually. Trump is not the leader of our spiritual journey, he's the leader of the free world. Trump is in the world of politics. He is somebody who believes in Jesus Christ, who is not as deep as Erica, as Charlie. We need to lead Trump and pastors are hearing it from the parishioners what's wrong with our president? He's going to lose me. Folks, do not look to the president for a spiritual leadership. It's not going to happen. That's not Trump's job. We have pastors for that. We have group leaders for that. We have priests for that. We have rabbis for that. We have group leaders for that. We have priests for that. We have rabbis for that. They are our spiritual guiders, not the president of the United States. So we need to move on from our feelings of Trump and our expectations of his holy moments. He's a bridge. He is the bridge we're going to get spiritual. You've got JD Vance, you've got Marco Rubio, you've got Peter Hessek. These people are all younger and experiencing their own spiritual revival and their own spiritual awakenings. They will take our country down that path. Trump is the bridge between the world of politics and the kingdom of heaven. He's the bridge.
Speaker 1:God does not use perfect people. It's all over the Bible. Chat, bbt it, gbt it, whatever you want to call it. Ask AI what are examples of imperfect people that Jesus Christ and that the Lord has used in the Old and New Testament for the sake of his kingdom? Moses was a murderer, a murderer. He murdered an Egyptian and fled. That's where he goes up and meets God. The bush, the burning bush, etc. Etc.
Speaker 1:The biggest author of the New Testament, the Apostle Paul Catholics call him St Paul, paul, the follower of Jesus, the author who was called Saul when he met him he met him on the road to Damascus and blinded him was a murderer of Christians, of the Jewish community that was converting to Christianity. He hunted them down, dragged them to imprisonment at best and murdered them at worst. And he is the largest author of the New Testament. That's who God uses. So stop looking for perfection, stop apologizing for Trump. Trump is where he needs to be exactly where the Lord wants him, and the Lord will absolutely reveal himself to Donald Trump at the Lord's timing, not ours. I'm glad we got that behind us because I tell you it's just been completely mind blowing on how many people are just looking for Trump for spiritual guidance. It's not going to happen.
Speaker 1:Let's pivot the conversation to our own communities, our own Christian church communities that are completely turned upside down and, to use a non-Christian word, pissed off that pastors are honoring Charlie Kirk because they believe him to be racist Folks. Isaiah, just because you're a Christian doesn't mean you don't fall victim to Isaiah 5.20 and 5.21. The Jews fell. The chosen people fell victim to Isaiah 5, 20, 21. If we think we can't as Christians, we're out of our minds. Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness before light and light before darkness and who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. And, more importantly, woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, who are clever in their own eyes, who are clever in their own sight. They're relying on their own discernment and they're not diving in to Charlie's actual words.
Speaker 1:This is a major problem for our country, for our world and being socialized in 10 years, which is something I've been saying for the last five, is a better outcome I can't believe I'm saying this than the path we're truly on. That I'm completely blown out of the water by. We are on a path of living in Genesis, chapter 6, where we're just these evil, demonic thinking beings that the Lord's fed up with. Just these evil, demonic thinking beings that the Lord's fed up with. However, he finds favor in Noah and Noah builds the ark. The Lord sends the flood. Well, I don't know who the Lord's going to find favor in to save us again, I don't know how far and how dark we're going to get before we realize how demonic and how spiritual this battle is.
Speaker 1:And we need to start going to church. We need to start speaking the truth of society and of what's happening, and of where our civilization is weak, where we're tearing each other down, where communities are being destroyed by who and why. We need to be real about that. We need to confront the spiritual battle and calling Charlie Kirk racist the spiritual battle, and calling charlie kirk racist, you're on the wrong side of the spiritual battle. Even if you go to church, you're still on the wrong side of the spiritual battle the, the conversations I'm having with congregants and pastors, and being attacked over honoring charlie kirk. It's very, I'm very scared, very nervous. So, folks, those of you who see the good in Charlie, that know the truth about Charlie, more importantly, the truth about what he spoke and not the sound bites we need your help. We need you in church. We'll have a relationship with God. It's not about you and your relationship with God. It's great if it's about our community and our country and our world. Why do we need you in church? Why do we need to not just focus on our personal relationship, but we have to be in community with each other?
Speaker 1:Because the demonic realm, the spiritual battle, is real and fallen angels are real. Revelation 7, I'm sorry, revelations 12, 7 through 9. Chapter 12, verse 7 through 9 goes over the falling angels and then the other angels that followed Satan in the rebellion against God. Satan's status and his role is covered in Ephesians 2, 2, 2, john 12, 31. Then the nature of the demonic realm is ephesians 6 12 and colossians 1 13. It's there's, by the way, there's a list there's. It goes on and on and on.
Speaker 1:The defeat of of the demonic realm, christ's authority. Jesus repeatedly casted out demons, showing his power over them. That's Mark 123-27. If the demonic realm wasn't real, why would Jesus have authority? Why would he need authority? The cross and resurrection. Colossians 2.15 states that Christ disarmed the rulers of authorities triumphing over the cross. Final judgment Revelations 20.10, describes a final destiny for Satan he loses.
Speaker 1:The devil is a liar, he's a cheat and he's a thief and he has his fallen angels that walk among us, that manipulate us. That's why we need to be together as a community, that's why we need to go to church, and that's what Charlie's goal was. I keep hearing people say be like Charlie, let's be great husbands. Folks, charlie was not a great husband because he was a good man. Charlie was a great husband because he was a Christian, because he read the Bible, because he sacrificed himself for Jesus, because he gave his soul to Jesus. When I say sacrifice, I mean his desires, his carrying of the cross. He surrendered to Jesus Christ. He had a pastor, a minister. That was his spiritual guide, that was his counsel. Charlie Kirk didn't say I have a relationship with God and Jesus. I'm fine at home, I wake up, I have my cup of coffee, I watch the birds fly, and that's my relationship with God.
Speaker 1:We're not going to win the spiritual battle that's outlined in the Bible with that behavior. First of all, do we go see our brothers, our sisters, our sons, our daughters, our nieces, our nephews? Do we go watch their basketball games, their baseball games, their tennis matches, their football games? Why? To support them? To football games? Why, to support them? We need to be in the pews on Sundays to support the godly kingdom builders that are doing the work Monday through Saturday. We have to motivate them by sitting in those pews and those seats and showing our love, our honor and our respect for them. It's time we have to fill the chairs, the pews.
Speaker 1:For my Jewish friends that are off for Rosh Hashanah, which is today, you need to go to the synagogue. No more fake practicing of our faith. The real deal, holy field, is what is necessary to defeat the demonic realm, to defeat the race war, to solve our political problems, to be like Charlie and have great marriages. That all has something in common. That's necessary. The Bible, the community that reads it and the leaders that preach it. That's what's necessary. The Bible, the community that reads it together and the preachers that preach it. That's what we need as a society and that's what Charlie wanted.
Speaker 1:He said on his deathbed well, I'm sorry, not his deathbed he said when he was in a podcast. In fact, here it is. He described the one thing he wants to be known for is his faith in Jesus Christ. Not a great dad, not a great husband. It's not what he said, because Charlie knew the common denominator for what his goal was, which is to get people to Christ and, ultimately, to save our nation. The one thing that would do it all was Jesus Christ. Was the Bible we're a Christian nation Judeo-Christian values that we need to get back to? Was the Bible we're a Christian nation Judean Christian values that we need to get back to? We need to stop apologizing for our faith. We need to stop being embarrassed. I mean, god, forgive us for being a reservoir, holding this knowledge to ourself and having this one-way relationship.
Speaker 1:The Great Commission I actually learned it, you know. I always thought the Great Commission was to turn people to Christ, and I had lunch today with friends of ours, robbie and Lisa, who are full-time missionaries. They were leaders in our church. He got the calling, sold everything and they're on full-time missions. He said, buddy, and I said you know, what do you do on these missions? In fact, I'm going to do a podcast with him. I said what do you do on these missions? He goes we invite people to Christ, we make disciples. Because, buddy, the Great Commission was not to bring people to Christ, it was to make disciples. Oof, why? Because disciples bring more and more people to Christ. That's the gremlin effect. Remember gremlins? When you pop the water on them, they multiplied. That's the multiplier.
Speaker 1:Disciples, not just believers, but people so on fire for the word, so on fire for Jesus, that they want to go tell more people and they want those people to help get more people. We need to motivate these people, we need to inspire these people and believe it or not, a simple act of showing up and sitting there for a service has an incredible, incredible impact and we're probably going to have to replace a lot of congregants that are believing I'm sorry that are living Isaiah. 520 and 21. Because there's a good chunk of them, folks. 520 and 21. Because there's a good chunk of them, folks, and they're telling lies, they're believing lies about Charlie Kirk being a racist. So, folks, I don't know if the future of the church is a dilution of the truth or leaning into the truth. It's going to be a tough time for our pastors and our spiritual leaders to pick, I won't say a side, but I'll say to really discern, because we don't want to turn people away from Christ. We want to love on everyone, but if we have people in our churches that don't believe the truth, then I don't know what it is. So the future of our nation, the future of our race relations which is ridiculous that we keep seeing each other in colors and in political parties, but that is the work of the devil and if we're going to undo that work, we need a great commission of our own and we have got to be the ones out there creating disciples of men and women. That's the only answer. That's where we start and that's how we honor Charlie Kirk.
Speaker 1:I did a video on TikTok. I said be Charlie. Someone commented be Jesus. And I said amen, of course. But right now, folks, I'm going to put it in a workout sense, because I go to the gym a lot. You don't walk in benching 405 pounds. That takes years to get to. You start off with realistic goals and as much as I want to be jesus, it just sounds so hard and impossible, even after diving into the word as much as I have over the last five years, in particular, getting very, very educated over the last two. Right now, I just want to be like Charlie, and then I'll take it from there. In order to be like Charlie, we got to show up to church. We've got to donate our time, our financial resources, whatever we have to help build it, and we have got to talk the truth. Get to church and don't take the bait.
