🎙️Podcast Description:

Where are we right now?

Not just as a nation…
 but as individuals.

Because whether we realize it or not—
 we’re becoming something.

In this episode, I dive into what’s shaping us every day:
the noise, the division, the speed of information…
and how easily we get pulled into reaction instead of reflection.

Drawing from Ecclesiastes and the Gospels, this isn’t about politics—
 it’s about formation.

👉 Are we becoming more reactive… or more aware?
đꑉ More divided… or more aligned with truth?

Because if we’re not intentional,
this world will shape us for us.

🎙️ This episode is a check-in.
 A reset.
A call to slow down and pay attention to what’s happening inside of us.

👉 Listen now and ask yourself: What am I becoming?

đź“– Scripture in this episode:

  • Ecclesiastes 1:2
  • Ecclesiastes 1:9

Welcome. Welcome to the Buddy Foy Jr. Show. I want to ask you a question right out of the gates. Where are we right now? Where are we as a nation, as a community, and honestly, as individuals? Because if we're being real, we're becoming something. So the question is, what are we becoming? Are we becoming more angry, more reactive, more certain, and less reflection? Or are we becoming more grounded, more aware, more prayerful, more aligned in truth? Because it's one of the other folks. And that's what I've been sitting with this week. Book of John, truth surrounding the Pharisees, the denial of truth, the investment in the agenda or the past. And Ecclesiastes has always held the real estate in my mind. And I say this carefully because it feels different every time I open a Bible, a different book hits, depending on where I am in my life. But right now, John and Ecclesiastes. You open it up, it being Ecclesiastes, and it just gets right into it. Meaningless, meaningless. Everything is meaningless, like chasing the wind. And I read that, and I think that's us. We are the people chasing the wind, working, arguing, posting, reacting, always moving, but never getting anywhere. When I look at what's happening around us, the division, the anger, the noise, I try not to become numb. And that's hard. But I'll tell you this: I'm not surprised anymore. Because the more I read the Bible, the more I realize this has all happened before. Everything has been done under the sun. You don't have to read scripture. Like it's ancient history. It's insane. It's happening in real time. Pride, division, blindness to truth. You go to the gospel, Jesus heals a man, a miracle, right in front of people. And what do they do? What we do today. They argue about it, they deny it, and they protect their position. That's not confusing. That's human nature. And I think that's what that's what's hitting me the hardest right now. Because we like to think we'd be different if we were there in those pages. We like to think I would have seen it. I would have believed. I would have stood up. But would we? Because we're watching truth unfold in front of us every day. And we still choose sides over clarity. And maybe what's different today is it's not a pattern, but the speed. The pattern has always been there. But the speed in which it travels, we are seeing everything instantly information, opinion, reactions. And instead of slowing down, we are reacting faster. We pick sides faster. We get angry faster. And if we're not careful, we get shaped faster. That's what concerns me. Not just what's happening out there, but what it's doing in here. Because this isn't just a political issue, it's a spiritual one. And I had a moment recently. I was sitting in church and I heard someone speak with real conviction. Not a pastor, a guest of the church. I want to be clear on this. It was different. It felt raw. It wasn't what I expected walking in. I expected a motivational session. But what I experienced was a depth of biblical understanding and a level of passion that caught me off guard in the best way. And sitting there with my jaw open, tears in my eyes, I had this thought. Am I actually living this? Or am I just talking about it? I have a podcast. I talk about what I think is the truth, my truth, biblical truth, what I'm learning about it, my pitfalls, my Jesus gym dropping weight on my feet, the awareness, the alignment that's necessary.

But where am I still holding back? Where am I playing it safe? And that convicted me. Because it's easy to talk about alignment, but it's harder to live it.

SPEAKER_01

And that moment forced me to look inward. Not at the world, but at myself. Because the real question isn't what's happening out there. It's what's happening inside of me because of it. Am I becoming more frustrated, more divided, more certain? Or am I becoming more grounded, more aware, more aligned with truth? Because here's the reality. We become what we behold. And right now, everything is fighting for our attention. Fear is loud. Opinions are louder. Outrage everywhere. Truth requires intention, diligence, and discernment. And here's what here's what's hit me coming out of that moment. By the way, that speaker was Tim Debo. We're not lacking information, folks. We're lacking alignment. We're so focused on being right that we're not asking. Am I seeing clearly? We're not praying. And that's the danger. Because Ecclesiastes is right. Nothing is new under the sun. But here's the problem. Neither is our behavior. All the history, all the reading, all the I would if I was there at those times. Yet the behavior, society, it hasn't changed. We haven't changed. Pride is the choice. Sides. What side am I on first? Choosing comfort over truth. Just like they did then. So the question has become what are we going to do about it? Are we going to stay silent? Get swept up into the noise? React without thinking? Or are we going to slow down, pay attention, and stay grounded in truth? Because this is bigger than politics. This is about information that we're allowing to form us. What kind of person is all this shaping you into me, us? Because if we're not intentional, the world will form you for you. So don't get numb.

SPEAKER_00

Don't just accept it. But always avoid being pulled into it.

SPEAKER_01

We have to stay aware. We have to stay grounded. We have to stay aligned. Folks, we have to stay in the word. Talk about the word.

SPEAKER_00

And the hardest part of all, live out the word. Because nothing is new. But it's all testing us.

SPEAKER_01

Be aware. Be prayerful. Stay intentional. And whatever you do, don't take the bait.
