Speaker 1:

Welcome one and all to the Toe Professional Podcast. Remember, this is your podcast. It's for the pros that have a need to know, that are on the go. It's to truly the voice of the towing and recovery industry. I'm DJ Harrington, your co-host, better known as the Toe Doctor, and the real host of the program is the president and publisher of Toe Professional Magazine, a good friend of the industry and a dear friend of mine, darren Weaver. Darren, how are you this beautiful day?

Speaker 2:

Man DJ, I am fantastic. I tell you it's a beautiful day here in Birmingham, alabama. We've ducked and dodged and missed a couple of storms, but I tell you it's gorgeous for us, but my heart goes out for our country. We've had a lot that were touched by tornadoes in the last couple of days. So let me start off with saying, hey, our prayers are out there for every one of you that are suffering and going through it with your family or loved ones because of the force of nature that's been in this last couple of weeks.

Speaker 1:

The UN can't go to Oklahoma, and then today in Nashville, tennessee, it's been a tough one.

Speaker 2:

It has. It has, like you said, nebraska, oklahoma, tennessee, they've all been hit. So we've got a lot of people that are reeling from this and the economy. So all we can do is just hold them up in prayer and keep our head down and move forward. That's what we do.

Speaker 1:

You got that right, my friend. Well, we're back from the Florida Toe Show, but before we talk about the Florida Toe Show, tell our listeners what's happening with the magazine and what's some of the new things that are really exciting that are going on.

Speaker 2:

Man. I tell you it's really been something else, dj. We've seen such a I would say, a growth spurt, but it's more of a waking up of the industry seeing the tools that are offered now by Toll Professional. And since we went this year we've had so many people wanting to go on that social and digital side and push more there and we decided to go with five issues print and four issues full digital. It's been tremendous. I mean we had over 211,000 impressions and over a six-minute read time on the digital end, you know, and capturing just in a 90-day time. 54,000 was our reach On the Facebook side and keeping over 16,000 engaged during those 90 days and with the website, a little over 18,000 now is what it's built to in a monthly user base. So seen a lot of tremendous growth there and we've seen some exciting things happen in the market and one of those I wanted to mention to you is this I'm sure you heard about the acquisition of Dynamic Manufacturing by EasyPak Continental Mixers, onesource Parts, better known as CSTH LLC. Yes, it's something that happened.

Speaker 2:

Dynamic everybody knows Anthony Gentile.

Speaker 1:

I know.

Speaker 2:

Anthony, yeah, with Dynamic and the job he's done there with that company and the growth that he's seen and the respect and love he has on the market has been phenomenal. But what's happened is they've been purchased. They went to an acquisition and EasyPack has purchased them. And the person that's there, the vice president of sales and marketing, is Matt Walter and let me tell you, man, I got to meet him at Florida DJ Phenomenal guy. They've still got Anthony there working with them on different aspects there at the shows and going through it.

Speaker 2:

And let me tell you, if you couldn't ask for a better company to come in, matt's got a great concept for where they're going to expand in markets going forward, offering the ability for distributorship scenarios. But that's something that I'm excited about and I'm excited about getting ahold of him and getting Matt on the podcast so we can hear from his mouth what they they're doing, what dynamic the uh access to to product and all the great things that this means with this acquisition. So I think it's great for anthony uh, he gets some time to kick up his feet and enjoy the fruits of his labor and I certainly know it. It's great also for uh matthew walker and the the team there that's taking the company over for Matthew Walker and the team there that's taking the company over.

Speaker 1:

Boy oh boy. Yeah, I've been to Dynamic, you know, I've been up there with Anthony and the team up there and they are great people and this would be wonderful for the industry, though this is a forward movement, without a doubt.

Speaker 2:

All they're doing is, you know, it goes from a great person and great friend of the industry, anthony, to another great family and company that's got a great vision for it and they love the product as well and all they want to do is make it even better and more accessible for more people in the market. So, man, you can't beat that, it's a great thing. People in the market. So, man, you can't beat that, it's a great thing. Another thing I want to mention DJ is in our industry news and the upcoming issue. One group I tried to go by and see was Zips and I'm going to tell you this year at the show it was busy the Florida team, pwlf, everybody from Mike Seaman to Stevie to Frank I saw Frank run around like a boomerang. He's all over the place. They did a tremendous job, but it was so busy Unfortunately I didn't get to see everybody and stop by and say hey. So let me throw it in for AW Direct. They had a great booth. They were busy as they could be, but they've got some new products they've put out in the upcoming issue from their AW Direct Quick Connect Air Coupler Kit, which it's for towing class 8 trucks and other commercial vehicles makes the job simple. They've got a tremendous product they've just come out with from SafeAll Products called REV, and it's for towing class 8 trucks other commercial vehicles with air brakes. So when you're no longer able to build air pressure with those lines, you use that Quick Connect air coupler kit.

Speaker 2:

When you've got an EV car that's broke down, the Safe All Products Rev Kit is something phenomenal that allows you to get that charge back up and get that customer on the way, and it's something they're offering right now. They've also got Showcase TowMate's lithium battery tow light, which is a phenomenal light 22-inch limelight, wireless towing light with the long-lasting lithium battery everybody loves. And another product that every shop needs and every truck needs accessible is the Railcraft DP 7000 series air and water hose rail. You bolt this thing on your service vehicle, you can bolt it on your carrier and you can bolt it right there in the shop and it makes your task a lot simpler.

Speaker 2:

So I wanted to highlight those. I didn't get by to see them because they were so busy and my key is, when they're there, I want them to reach their customers first instead of salesmen. But they've got some fantastic products for the market and when you get a chance listeners, make sure you pick up the latest issue. Take a look online the digital issue, volume 13, issue three and take a look at what Zips has to offer for the industry, because it's some fantastic products.

Speaker 1:

Now, Darren, we had a lot of people come by the booth bragging about they listened to the podcast, which I'm really humbled because our audience keeps growing. But can you tell our listeners I know that when I went by the tow book booth it was packed what was going on over there?

Speaker 2:

oh, my goodness, man, let me tell you, if I wouldn't have went by and said hello to the team, to kendall and dan and everyone, before they got started, you wouldn't have a shot at it because they were holding court. It's easy to tell that they're known and loved. They were simply educating the industry man on the way they could make an owner's job easier and give them the ability to keep up with everything, and it's something to see. They stayed covered up, and also Azuga, that was right across from them with their solutions, with their line of cameras. Man, those guys were covered up as well. I saw Tim over there and they were filming questions back and forth and I look like, from what I understood, they had a really good show as well. Both of them top quality products and, you know, just again bringing things solutions to the market for our owners let's do this.

Speaker 1:

Let's take a fast break and when we come back we'll talk a little bit more about the florida toe show.

Speaker 3:

And tight, we'll be right back recovery billing unlimited is an organization dedicated to teaching fellow towers how to become more profitable for the work they do. Speaker 1:

Of course, you know you're listening to Toe Professional on the Go podcast Now. We do our best every week to bring you new informative episodes like this one here Now. I want all of you to remember we're available on Spotify, itunes, pandora, stitcher, iheartmedia, amazon or wherever you get your podcasts. And Darren and I cannot thank you enough for telling your friends about tuning in to Toe Professional on the Go podcast, because this has really been growing. So, darren, tell us further about your view from your eyeballs of Florida Toe Show.

Speaker 2:

Man. Like I said, it was a phenomenal show, very busy, from what I could see, for all of the exhibitors inside. It was something else and we talked with many folks, talked with our friends over there Jeff Vinson at Warrior Winch and they were very excited about the show. Jeff told me they sold every winch they had in the booth so it was a big benefit for them. Warrior Winch is getting some great traction and with what they're doing with their 1% of all sales goes to the International Towing Museum Survivor Fund they've made some good pathways on the market and got some exposure and they're doing some big things pouring back into the industry. So it was good to hear the report from them, how well they did. And one of our other sponsors, dj, not to back up a little bit here, but Recovery Billing Unlimited I gave Jade Ficker to call and spoke with her just to hear how things went, because I know they did a class down there in Orlando and then they did another class in Las Vegas and they said the response has been phenomenal. But the biggest thing that they highlighted they wanted me to talk about and this goes back to you know what kind of family is behind Recovery Billing Unlimited, and she didn't want to talk about the company, she wanted to talk about Landon, and there is a story in here in the issue in Volume 3. You can go to towprofessionalcom and check it out. Everybody and it's called Lights On for Landon.

Speaker 2:

Jade and her family went down and visited Landon, and Tammy Killian, the grandmother that's taking care of Landon and Landon is a five-year-old boy from Tennessee has a genetic condition Now bear with me, I'm going to try and say this correctly Neurofibromatosis, nfi, and it predisposes him to cancer. So what she did is she went and visited with him. Landon loves tow trucks, loves lights, and so they've created this page, lights On for Landon, and all they're asking our listeners to do is just go out there, make a short video of your truck with the lights on, uh, with everything, and just go over here to Facebook with uh, lights on for Landon and just drop it on there. Um, it's something that uh, for a boy that's got such a uh, uh, a long journey, that's been through a lot, it really brightens his day and he absolutely loves our tow professionals. So if you remember to do that, that's something like, I said, our family recovery billing.

Speaker 2:

I love them, from Linda to Jay, to Bob, to Eric. They're all phenomenal, but that's what they said there. They're all phenomenal, but that's what they said there. If you talk on the podcast, don't talk about us. Talk about Lights On for Landon, because it would really bring some brightness into the life of that family.

Speaker 1:

All right. Now, darren, let me ask you this. I'm making notes, so Lights On for Landon. How is the best way, so early evening, we can turn the lights on on a couple of our trucks? Video it on our phones, yeah what do we do then?

Speaker 2:

do we go to a website or something? You just go on to the facebook. Go on to facebook and type in on facebook lights for landon and hit the page will come up that recovered billing had set up for them and you can just share that video, take that video and tag it right to it. Um, so it's real easy to do. And, man, let me tell you, this little man loves it. When they went to uh and saw him, they saw him in gatlinburg, went over to a place where you could operate machinery and uh, you know you're able to do that on different types and landon absolutely enjoyed it and put a big smile on his face and lit him up. And you can see that the current issue of Toe Professional how much not only he enjoyed it, but you can see Jane Reisman loved it as well. He got a lot out of it too. So if you can do that for him, remember him, be tremendous. If you can do that for him, remember him, it would be tremendous.

Speaker 2:

But also, something I wanted to point out is another company that went through an acquisition. I'll be able to say this at some point, dj, but I'm a lot better salesman than I am a speaker, so don't hold it against me. But another company that went through that is Stek Manufacturing. Everybody knows Stek for the whole that they offer and from dealing with John Brill and Chris Brill phenomenal folks. And now a company now is handling that called Milton Industries and let me tell you, great people, phenomenal heart, tremendous background in industry, and they're repping those same products, putting them out there. But they've also got other products that I talked to them about. That blew me away. Now, how many, how many towers do you think? How many owners in our industry do you think, dj, do we have that out of 100% that work on their own trucks a ton? Yeah, that's what I'm thinking.

Speaker 2:

I'm thinking yes a lot yeah, I'm gonna say, if they're like me, boy, I'm gonna work on something before I take it to somebody. I'm about saving those dollars. And uh, you know, one of the divisions of milton is a company called promax and they offer uh different type tools for uh. For example, they've got a Ford 6.7 liter EGR tube and fuel injector broken bolt repair combo. That happens If you worked on these diesels, you know you'll deal with a lot of broken bolts.

Speaker 2:

They've got one for the GM 6.6, the exhaust manifold broken bolt repair kit. They've got them, uh, for a um, a bullet, adaptable broken bolt extractor, any inline pattern, including diesel. And they got a power pull fuel injector pullers for 6.7 and, like I said, the 6.6 to pull those fuel injectors. If you've ever dealt with the fuel injectors they can get stuck in there and you can't get them out with a regular tool. So, products when Thomas Borg told me about this when I was talking with him in advertising, I said listen, this line of products is great for our industry as well, because these guys are working on them and they need tools that are solutions. When you break a bolt, you can't just wait on a machine shop to fix it. You've got to have a solution and with ProMax they've got some products here that can allow you to get it fixed right away, your guys to do it. So again, everybody, take a look at the issue volume 13,.

Speaker 1:

Issue three ProMax, with their line of products for servicing the 6.7 liter Ford, as well as a 6.6 duramax well, I got to tell you we're going to take a break in a second here, but I have to tell and reach out and say congratulations to ruthie landau. They had that woman's luncheon. It was the best 20 you could have spent at the florida third show.

Speaker 1:

They gave away door prizes, gifts. It was phenomenal. It was sold out, and everybody that was there this year has already said we'll be back again. Ruthie Landau and the ladies auxiliary did a phenomenal job with the woman's luncheon, so let's take a real fast break, darren, and we'll come right back.

Speaker 2:

Sounds great Thanks.

And we look forward to serving you, welcome back and you know this is. This is the Tow Professional On the Go Podcast, dj Harrington and Darren Weaver, and I got news for all of you If you want to hear an industry expert, remember to dial the hotline number here at the podcast center 706-409-5603. I want to remind all of you please like and review and share everywhere, and we can't thank you enough for helping us grow our listener base. This has been phenomenal. So we had Ruthie Landau. Before the commercial, they had the great Florida show with all the international, all the countries. It is the largest international show in the whole industry and we saw people from Japan, we saw people from China and a big, big, large group from Spain, and they all had their own interpreters with them, darren. So a lot was learned at this Florida Toe Show. Now, our friends Jordan had something going on too, didn't they?

Speaker 2:

man, let me tell you, jerk, jordan had a a great little party opening up thursday night um bringing the folks in, had had food there had some ice cold beer and um had the products sitting out there in the lot in droves. I'm telling you and you know one thing they were bringing out there is their all-new MPL-60 integrated wrecker. It's their hard, as they say, their hard-hitting solution for medium-duty challenges. It has a powerful 6,000-pound underlift and a 24,000-pound recovery boom and a sleek modular aluminum body. So they had that there showing it off. Jordan put on a great night of entertainment and it was a good time for customers to stop by and meet the team see Heath, see Aaron Bob, everybody around there at the show and be able to mingle and what fantastic products they bring and what a quality company to deal with every time.

Speaker 1:

First class and the party just kept on going. I mean, you didn't have fun that night. There was something wrong with you For the whole family. It was a family affair.

Speaker 2:

Well, hey, let me tell you just some others I want to highlight. At the show. Dj is Towmate. Stop by and saw those guys Talked with Brian We've had him on the show here before and they had just put a new product out. It's a HEN V2 light and what it does is it's a vehicle mount version of a light and it lights up your vest and makes it glow as you're on the side of the highway. So it's a fantastic product. We've got it showcased here in the upcoming issue.

Speaker 2:

They had their Lifesaver product there, the safety cone mounted light system that many people were talking about. And that's, that's one of the things you mean. You were standing there in the booth and a guy said listen, you know I'm I'm fighting legislation here and trying to figure out how I can get a uh, you know police lights on my truck and they don't want us to have that. What do we do? And it's simple. I said go buy a lifesaver, stick it on the cone out behind the truck, you're legal. Wow, yeah, and it just it blew him away and he went straight over to see him. So, uh, you know, they had some fantastic products there.

Speaker 2:

And let me tell you another one that was busy, that I couldn't get into, was Collins Dollies. Those guys were there. They had a full team there. I saw Chris there, I saw Curtis there for a short time but they were busy so I was letting them get after it. And every time I come by they were covered up. And let me tell you this is a company that's 50-plus years in the industry Towers Choice since 1972, a year before I was born, so I just gave my age away. So they've been around before I was, and it's products that they continue to always tweak. They just came up with a new safety ratcheting system that's being showcased. We pushed it out there to showcase it off.

Speaker 2:

But but I mean, guys, you get a chance. Take a look at their high-speed dolly, the latest version. Take a look at their carrier dolly and just the line of products. It's not just that that Collins offers. I know that's what they're known for and known as the high watermark for that product and the leader but also they offer a line of mounts for those dollies, they offer accessories for loading. They also offer push bumpers and they offer tunnel boxes and a line of apparel. So there's many different things they offer, but a quality company that let me tell you. Look like they had a tremendous show. So if you get a chance, guys jump online collinsdollyscom. Take a look at them.

Speaker 1:

We've got some fantastic products and, uh, phenomenal people to deal with well, there was a lot of people at this show and of course you run into all types of people going out there trying to visit as many as they could. I started the booth most of the time talking to our famous listeners and I can't thank them enough for coming by and saying hi to us, that's for sure.

Speaker 2:

But, dj, I tell you, we got in the weeds there the first day. I think we gave out 1,000 copies of the magazine just the first day of the show, on that Friday, and we had what was it? Maybe two boxes left for the second day. So it was certainly busy and it was so good to see the folks. You know we had, matter of fact, had many people come by the booth, like you said, and talk to us and talk about the show, talk about the various products both me and you have talked about on the show and how they enjoy it.

Speaker 2:

So that's as always, that's a great plus and that's also a benefit of our wonderful sponsors, from Wrecker Rentals to Recovery Billing Unlimited, to Towmate, to Jordan, to Towbook, to Copart I mean, every one of them are high watermarks in this market. They're known as leaders in the industry and it wasn't for them we couldn't put this podcast out there, but it's really been. From what we've heard in the industry, I had to remind folks we do a magazine but they certainly bragged on the podcast and it's certainly, from what we've heard, it's made a mark in the industry and it's helping people make buying decisions, which was mine and your whole idea, the whole way is just to give our advertisers another way that could be seen, so they got the highest value for their dollar.

Speaker 1:

Well, I know one thing In the podcast we always say a prayer for certain people, and one of the guys that came by on his scooter, ron Pullen, came by the booth on his scooter to say hi and we all prayed for him on our podcast, that's for sure yeah.

Speaker 2:

So let me tell you what a unbelievable man man. My heart felt so good just to see him and his wife as I come into the florida show. I met him right as I was getting unloaded, put everything up and saw him and was just so happy to see him and r Ron man, he's a trooper brother. He's back at it. He was in the booth both days, you know, wide open, and what a wonderful person, what a godly family and so good to see them and what a great show they had as well?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, which is good. Well, my friend, are we going to tell everybody about making sure they look at the newest edition online? And see a wrap-up.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, definitely, guys. I want to take a look at this one. Like I said, this is a digital issue. It's one we're pushing out on Facebook. We've pushed it out to our 30,000-plus owners, that we've got on our e-blast list, but it's one that you don't want to miss. This issue is going to be a feature on cargo control, on jump packs.

Speaker 2:

We've got a feature on cameras and let me tell you, zuga has an article in there that talks about front-to-back A to Z on the importance, the features and how they benefit you. And then, if that's not enough, we've got Traxero in there showcasing their in-truck cameras and GPS software. So both of them are out there to give you the knowledge, the information you need to make an intelligent decision and know what works best for your company the decision to know what works best for your company. Also, zips features an article in here for chain binders on different types of chain binders from your Durabelt Duralock series binder I know we've all seen out there more of the older type binder from your peerless quick binder that's alloyed to a speed binder, torque drive binder that you're able to use with an electric drill. So very wide open options there. And then we have a feature issue on safe winching for cargo control in the towing market by Warrior Winch and Bimson Power. Don't miss that.

Speaker 2:

And another thing DJ is Worldwide featured in here in this issue with their new product they brought out, which is a service vehicle van body that's an EV charger. So it's got everything set up there to be a mobile EV charger and you can go right out there and do it. So it's a great issue to look into. We've got some action-packed products in here, things that will generate more revenue for your business, and all we're trying to do is make sure you've got all the information to make that decision you need so that you can stay out of the red and in the black. So it's a great one. Don't miss it. Go to towprofessionalcom, take a look at it. It's right there on the homepage.

Speaker 1:

Fantastic, buddy. Well, this has been a good podcast. So what do we normally do, my dear friend, when you end one of your great podcasts?

Speaker 2:

Man, let me tell you, first off, I want to thank everybody in this industry. It's been 13 years. It's been phenomenal to see this thing grow as it has, but, as always, I got to put that back to who did all the work, and that was God. He just poured it out to the messengers us and allowed us to bring it to the masses. So, heavenly Father, I thank you for every one of our vendors. I thank you for the products that they bring to market, for their thought and knowledge they're putting into them to bring more safety to our first responders.

Speaker 2:

I ask that you bless them for doing so and, dear Heavenly Father, I ask for a hedge of protection around our first responders, for the men and women that go out there and serve on a daily basis. Help them to remember how valued they are, help them to remember in their lowest times that they are the heroes that all look for, and let them remember how tall they stand, how much they're appreciated. And, dear Lord, we ask that you bless them not only in riches, but in life and in health and family, the things that matter. Dear Lord, we thank you, we appreciate you, we appreciate our audience in this industry. Until next time. God bless you all. Keep listening to Toe Professional on the Go podcast and we'll keep bringing you the information needed so that you can stay in the black and on track. Thanks again and have a great week, god bless.
