Welcome one and all to Toe Professional Podcast. Remember, this is your podcast. It's for the pros that have a need to know, that are on the go. This is truly the voice of the towing and recovery industry. I'm DJ Harrington, your co-host, better known as the Toe Doctor industry. I'm DJ Harrington, your co-host, better known as the Toe Doctor, and the real main host of this program is the president and publisher of Toe Professional Magazine, a good friend of the industry and a dear friend of mine, darren Weaver Darren. How are you this beautiful day?
Speaker 2:Man. I tell you DJ, I am fantastic. I tell you, dj always does an unbelievable job to fluff me up, make me sound good, tote me around here, shine me up like a trophy. I appreciate you. I am happy to be here. We've got some beautiful weather down here in Alabama and I know you're getting it in Georgia 65 degrees and it's killing me not to be sitting on the patio with my doing the podcast today. But hey, I'm gonna limp through it.
Speaker 1:I tell you well, if our listeners knew that. In on your patio you have the deer, come by, you have your great, you know your dogs in the backyard and this is really some experience you have when you go to your backyard. It's a whole lot different than a lot of our listeners, believe me.
Speaker 2:Hey, I love, love peeking out and seeing the woods. Man, that's my, that's my favorite place, so I love taking a look at.
Speaker 1:Well, what is today being so beautiful? And we got the Florida toe show coming, and later down in the podcast we'll talk about some new sponsors. But what do you got on your heart today?
Speaker 2:Man, I tell you, DJ, I'm just really excited. We're what? 14 days away from set up at the Florida Toe Show. That show's the 10th through the 12th and let me tell you, it's always a tremendous time. I say kick off the year, but I know it's almost it's end of the first quarter, but it feels like that show always kicks off sales for the year, always brings in that international audience, brings in the newest products and technology and just gives you an opportunity to walk around and see everybody. Time to wander around, get lost and get back out there and see some more things.
Speaker 1:So it's a it's it's a great venue and I can't wait to get down there now, you remember last year, when you and I were sharing that free hot dog, we got online and got our free hot dog folks, and the people in front of me, darren, was carrying the drinks, I'm carrying the hot dogs. The people in front of us were from Italy and the people behind us were from France, and so you had Italian speaking there. Then you had this Pali-Vu, francais, behind us, and so you had an Italian speaking there. Then you had this Polly Lou, francais behind us, and I got the biggest kick out of it, because it is the largest international show ever and it's a it's. The whole thing is just well done by Mike Seaman and the team.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I'll tell you from the from the raffle they do on the truck, that truck that has the Miller bat on it. That's something that happens every single year and you talk about. Just for a couple of dollars you can have the opportunity to own a $160,000 truck. So that's a tremendous opportunity.
Speaker 2:The women's luncheon that we always hear about All the ladies are always bragging on it and, without a doubt, it raises a great deal of dollars to help with the association, with safety, with training, education and so on. And then, as we speak about education, you've got everybody from AAA to many others that are there doing ongoing education throughout the weekend. So there's something to do, and there's even a kid's corner there for the kids. There's always something to do on the facility throughout the weekend, whether it's training, education or just walking around and talking to the vendors about some of the products that you've been interested in over the years.
Speaker 1:Well, darren, you always told me there's two things you got to do when you get there. Of course, everything's free, but you buy a ticket for the Hindo and that's $10. And the person who won it last year bought a total of three tickets, so he had a $30 investment. And then Ruthie's Lady Show on Saturday. The ticket is very inexpensive. When you think about all the door prizes they give away. Everyone goes home with something. I mean it's really well worth it. Besides, it sponsors a great cause.
Speaker 2:Yes without a doubt.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it's really well done. So what are some of the people you're going to go see?
Speaker 2:Well, let me tell you we've got some, some fantastic advertisers that are there, vendors that are going to be there helping the market, and you know my job as a publisher and president is just get around and kiss babies and shake hands. You know and see everyone, but you know a lot of them. That come to the head is Jordan. It's been a loyal advertiser with a publication for 14 years. They do the kickoff of the show there with their party and they do a great job with that street party and getting to meet all their distributors that they have there at the show during that time. Certainly be by early to see Toe Book and Azuga during that time. Certainly be by early to see Toe Book and Azuga because, let me tell you, those booths get packed out early in the show. It's hard to get in there. They're serving popcorn, they're holding court, talking to everyone and getting everybody the information. So that's a couple of them. We'll see Now some others. Is X Insurance, great advertiser of mine has been with us. I want to say 10 plus years.
Speaker 2:Austin Insurance. I want to say the boys over there at Austin Insurance. But Todd and Tyler, those are grown men, man. They were younger when I first got into the market 14 years ago. But there's some grown men that are very knowledgeable in the industry when it comes to insurance. But there's some grown men that are very knowledgeable in the industry when it comes to insurance. Weikert is going to be there as well. You know great insurance company as well. There's just so many of them. We deal with Austin Heinz Motors. They've just expanded a facility in Louisiana and they're expanding their service network, so not only serving Alabama, which is one of the top distributors there, but now they've grown and grown their business across into Louisiana as well. So I'm going to stop by and see those guys.
Speaker 2:I'll certainly be by to see GoLite. Golite's one of our great advertisers. They've got some tremendous products and I can speak very highly of that because I've got them all over my 22 Ford Bronco. You're talking about lighting up the night when you're out riding around. I've got a set of their ditch lights and spotlights on my Bronco, so I'll be stopping by and seeing them.
Speaker 2:And then that brings us to some of the others Collins Dollies, one of the inventors of the others. Collins Dollies, the one of the inventors of the dollies. You know these guys are a pioneer in the industry when it, when it comes to their products and they've got some products they just updated in the market that have been one of the hottest things here lately and and so I'm going to stop by and see them and then also our friends over at warrior winches and, and speaking for those guys, let me tell you I cleared a trail with a tree that had been out there in the woods for many, many years. Dj uh with uh, with the uh gladiator, 12,500 pound winch on the front of that bronco the other week it it was very helpful in assisting me out of being a little too whole hearty into diving into a mud hole with the vehicle.
Speaker 1:Aaron, what I wanted to ask you. You know, we had people come by the booth looking for warrior winch and I had to send them over to Bimson power.
Speaker 3:Yes.
Speaker 1:And so a lot of. We need to tell our listeners and it's spelled B-I-M, s-o-n. Power, that's how they're registered, even though I tell everybody Warrior Winch, and then all of a sudden I'm trying to look for Warrior Winch and I'm like, oh, bro, yeah they're known as Benson Power doing business as Warrior Winch, just like I'm over the mountain media doing business as Tow Professional Magazine.
Speaker 2:Right, and I bet nobody knows I'm over the mountain media incorporated. They all know me as Tow Professional, exactly. So that's one thing they're doing there. But they just started and pushed a brand out of their armor tech synthetic ropes and they're launching those at the Florida show. Let me tell you they are unbelievable and, dj, I can say that because they launched them first on the front of the Bronco. We put one on there and I used that in a couple of winching situations, got some good photos for them. I can attest for the quality of it and they're making these for all sizes of records out there in the industry and they'll be launching that at the Florida Tow Show and everybody that gets the copy of Tow Professional Magazine should be seeing it about right now. They should be seeing the ad on the latest products.
Speaker 2:Well, let's do this. I know I've went on here for a minute. Listeners hang in here for a second. We're going to take a quick commercial break and when we get back from this we're going to have more information about the latest industry events, the latest products that are out there getting you information on how to keep you in the black and keep you out of the red. We'll get those tills turned over for you with the latest products in industry. Hang in there, we'll be right back.
Speaker 4:Towbookcom is the only way to go to manage all the vehicles you tow off the road. The number one platform in the industry, the cloud-based towing software, can handle all your needs Right from your phone, with support day and night. Visit towbookcom and give it a try.

We're available on Spotify, itunes, pandora, stitcher, iheartmedia, amazon or wherever you get your podcasts. So before we take our break, darren and I were talking about some of our favorite friends that are going to be at the Florida Toast Show. So, darren, let me pass it on over to you and make sure you name some of the guys I like.
Speaker 2:One of them our listeners need to certainly go by and see is worldwide equipment sales.
Speaker 3:Yeah, there is a friendly face over there.
Speaker 2:You go ask for Jim or go ask for Amanda. Amanda is an absolute sweetheart. I've worked with her over the years and she's very knowledgeable. And they've got everything from the. It's the Cottrell car carriers one and two car carriers and they also have their line of Hackney service bodies. And those service bodies can be equipped with anything from electric vehicle charging systems jump starters can be set up for hazmat remediation. It can be set up for many different things for your roadside assistance, set up for your battery change out and so on. So they've got a lot of solutions for the industry over there. You got Brian Riker over there.
Speaker 2:That's a textbook of knowledge when it comes to talking about anything when it comes to the towing industry, so he's able to tell you what fits best for your application. So make sure you stop by Worldwide, take a look at their products, see what they have to offer. And then there's another one I've got to talk about is just a family-owned company that is known for customer appreciation and customer satisfaction, and that's Custom Built Manufacturing. Make sure you get over there and see Derek D'Angelo. And customer satisfaction, and that's custom-built manufacturing.
Speaker 2:Make sure you get over there and see Derek D'Angelo and Nick. Let me tell you those guys as I kidded with Nick the other day, I said, man, every product you make is chock full of bald eagles, the American flag and just pride in the red, white and blue. Those guys are something else when it comes to specifications, building it directly to what the customer's looking for and needs and their application, and that's why they have so many repeat customers. So definitely stop by and see the folks at Custom Built and DJ. I'm on a roll man, I just got to keep talking here because we got so many great customers.
Speaker 2:Well, time to run yeah, I was about to say. Next also Ron Pullen and Doreen.
Speaker 2:Sweetest folks in the world with RP Consulting Service and Synetics equipment and let me tell you from their headsets that just increase situational awareness, listen through technology to now the load cells that Ron is able to offer and also the lighting products. So Ron has many different solutions, many different solutions, and when you're going to deal with somebody in the industry, you might as well deal with somebody that you like that will take care of you, put a smile on your face, let you know you got a great deal and have you coming back for more, and that's certainly Ron and Doreen over there. So they're absolutely phenomenal. And, dj, I can't leave off ESA Energy Security Services. Those guys are phenomenal. They are the authority when it comes to dealing with electric vehicles. They do 24-7, real-time event management. They're specialists that provide real-time guidance to the total recovery professionals in the industry. They're specialists that provide real-time guidance to the toe and recovery professionals in the industry. All of their agents are certified rescue technicians ready to support your operations and they do EV training. They are the industry-leading toe trainers and they've partnered with many to help provide the most relevant training in the industry many to help provide the most relevant training in the industry. So if you're not up to par on the latest things to do with your electric vehicles, on the procedures. Go by and see the guys because let me tell you Daylon and his crew will absolutely. They're passionate about this industry. They'll inform you on everything they do. It's a lot of this. That they do is no cost to our owners. They get taken care of through the insurance side because they're taking away some of the harm that can incur by informing our tow operators. So make sure you reach out to them. See them at the show as well.
Speaker 2:Also, custer Products, great advertiser of ours. Been with us long term, brad and Aaron Custer. That'll be there at the show. Also another great one if you're looking for an NRC unit, our folks must know Robert Youngs. You know Beth and Chris over there and Robert at Robert Youngs are phenomenal people, great to deal with, attention to detail, got a business in the industry for many, many years. They know what trucks need to be specified for each situation. So if you're looking for an NRC, if you're looking for a trailer, if you're looking for accessories, make sure you stop by and talk with the great folks at Robert Young Parts and Service. They'll be there as well.
Speaker 2:Also one of our great advertisers, hino. They've put in this truck to give away. Stop by the tent, see the folks at Hino, find out about the latest in technology. That's coming in 25 and 26 to come. So that's another advertiser. I would say Make sure you stop by and see them and while you're there, right close to them, step over and see the fine folks at Dynamic Manufacturing. They'll be out there showcasing some of the latest products they offer for towing and recovery and repossession industry. Stop by and see them as well. Dj. Any thoughts?
Speaker 1:you are knocking them out. How about if we took a break? And then, when you come back, how about you talk about our two new sponsors? Okay, I'll certainly do it. You got it, folks. We'll take a break and we'll be right back with another great episode of toe professional on the Go podcast.

It's because of the likes and reviews from people like yourself. Thank you so much, darren, and I cannot thank you enough. When we see you in person at the Florida Toe Show and at all the other toe shows, we will do our best to say thank you to you. If you're a state association and you want to be part of the podcast and you want to send in your information, just send it to the hotline 706-409-5603 and we will do our best to get you on. Or if there's an industry expert that you want to hear, let Darren and I know, because Darren has influence and he will get him on the podcast or her on the podcast. So, darren, let me pass it on over. Now you're going to talk about our two new sponsors, ina and TRAA. Is that okay for me to remind you?
Speaker 2:Yes, sir, I'm going to get to them in just a minute. I'm very excited about them being on. I did want to remind all of our listeners, while you're there at the show and you're over there buying a ticket for the Hino giveaway truck, make sure you think, make sure you thank frank enos and his wife if they're there together. Um, because let me tell you I've told that guy before hey, I'll give you a raise if you need one, for as hard as you work here and he doesn't get paid, it's all volunteer. So, folks, when you see him, pat him on his back, thank him for what he's doing, for his volunteer service, uh, with the p, the PWF, to showcase that truck and make sure as many people throughout, throughout the our nation, our great nation, he's taking that thing all over the United States to give as many people possible the opportunity to win it. So make sure you stop by and say hi to Frank, thank him. I also want to again a couple of sponsors. One of them I don't know if they'll have a booth, but Towmate one of our top sponsors here on the show. Those guys have some of the latest things when it comes to lighting in this industry from the HENV2 UV light technology to the TM36MDW, the new Sabre light bar, the Adapta box, that they offer Just so many great products. If they're not there in a booth, they will be there with your favorite distributors offering the products through them. So make sure you see them there. Also, a friend of mine I want to speak of is Paul, and Paul's got some phenomenal products. Paul's with Advanced Track Solutions. He's a new advertiser there this year at the PWOF show. He's got an outside booth Now he'll be showcasing the Rescue Track, the Easy Mover XL and the Rescue Track XL. This is the latest track technology where you're able to use these to get vehicles out of parking decks, out of situations that you can't normally get a typical vehicle in. So make sure you stop by and see those guys as well. So I wanted to mention them, wanted to mention Towmate, but yes, dj, let's get back to it.
Speaker 2:Two new sponsors here on the event. We say it as one, they work together hand in hand. But Gay, rochester, vine, towing and TRAA our national association, is now a sponsor of the podcast. They certainly know this is a good place to get their news out, reach the most for the least. So they've come on board with us. They're very excited about it, as well as us, and it gives us an opportunity to keep all our listeners up to date on the latest and greatest and what's happening with them, because they do so many things when it comes to legislation.
Speaker 2:Matter of fact, traa just had their seventh annual legislative action workshop. They had over 27 states represented, with attendees there over I think it was 84 attendees plus and they had over 112 Congress and staffer meetings that were set up that they were able to attend. So you know one thing they do when you get there, anybody that hasn't been able to go there. You're able to meet with some of these congressmen and senators. They'll come in talk with you. The first day. You go over the pinpoints of the talking points of what you're going in there to talk about, and then TRA goes in there with. They educate you, they tell you the points to be on when you go into your meeting with the different constituents there and it makes for a very effective program.
Speaker 2:And everybody was there, from Congressman Kevin Kyle he's a member of the House Transportation Infrastructure Committee. You also had Congressman Jim McGovern. He's a ranking member of the House Committee on Rules. You had Pat Ryan, a member of the House of Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. Greg Stanton, member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure as well. Stanton, member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure as well.
Speaker 2:So they worked very diligently with the people that are overseeing these laws that affect our tow professionals on a daily basis.
Speaker 2:So this just went off.
Speaker 2:It was a tremendous success and right behind that I was able to go down and also cover Randy Myers Racing, and INA and TRAA in conjunction have sponsored that car for the year, and it's hilarious to see a top fuel dragster with slow down on it move over and a funny car that says slow down, move over.
Speaker 2:But Randy Myers and his brother had been in towing for 30 plus years, so it goes back a long way. They started in racing and his brother died in the industry, so this is something that's near and dear to his heart and his family's heart. His daughter races the car and I was able to go down to Tallahassee cover that event at the Capitol where they had a meeting to promote slow down, move over. So we had many delegates down there that were speaking and it was just a great event. So, with TRAA and INA tolling, we'll be getting a lot more information on the legislative side what things are being done for you as an owner in this industry, what laws can affect you and what changes are being made to protect you in the industry. So, dj, we're very excited about that. I think it's big and it'll give our listeners another place that they can go to get more information to help them on a daily basis.
Speaker 1:Well, this was definitely a winner, buddy. Is there any last companies you were thinking about?
Speaker 2:I tell you there's so many great ones we deal with. Also, I would say, if you're there I don't know if they're there this year Eastern Record sells up there. Man, those are some friendly folks. They've got everything that you need. So if you get a chance, make sure you stop by there. See them as well. Take a look at what they have to offer. Also, hazalert, stop by and see those guys. They have really changed this industry and done some tremendous things for safety to make your life better. And make sure you get home. Stop by and see them.
Speaker 2:The guys at Purpose Record they are certainly known for the heavies and for having those access to them. They'll be out there around. If they're where they generally are, right over there by Custom Built. You'll find them and I tell you, tyler and the guys there can get you to the right products. Also, two more Steg Manufacturing products. Also two more Steg Manufacturing. So when it comes to the Big Easy kit for your access tools for the industry, when it comes to your lockout tools Also, make sure you go by and see our great partners at Zips.
Speaker 2:Let me tell you these guys have been with us long term. You can see in every copy of Tow Professional. They come in and they have a couple of different products that they'll showcase and show off for the latest products and industry that they've picked up. So when it comes to it, when those guys at Zips hear about the latest and greatest that are in the market, they run out there and grab those guys up and make sure it's a part of their portfolio Because they want to make sure that you get them, you get their products and you get them at the best price as possible. So certainly stop by and see the folks at Zips. Besides that, I know I'm going to leave some folks out.
Speaker 1:I was going to tell you you know the guy that was looking for Warrior Winch right after him that this I'm giving him permission. This guy come to go over to you know Bimson B-I-M-S-O-N-D-A. Then guy comes by and says all right, dj, I am looking all over for AW Direct.
Speaker 2:There you go.
Speaker 1:I said go to Zips. And that's exactly what I told him. And the next guy came by and I said what am I? An information bureau, all. I was doing was sending people to different quarters of the layout of the Florida show. And I thought to myself you, you know, I should become an information desk. You know, just put up a sign information, say ask the doctor, I'll tell you where to go love it.
Speaker 2:Well, man, I I tell you it. Like I said, you know these advertisers. Every one of my name there has been in the publication um, the majority of them for 10 plus years. Great people, great products, great passion for the industry. Like I said, a lot of them. I've tested the products from Warrior Winches products to Go Lights and others, and there's some fantastic products.
Speaker 2:Now let's also don't forget about our shows that are coming up in industry, about our shows that are coming up in industry. So let's not also forget, after Florida, we've got the Mid-Atlantic Toe Show put on by TRPNC. That's at the Jim Graham Building, September the 4th through the 6th. So that's a phenomenal show. And then after that we've got the September the 25th through the 27th. You've got one of our favorites, the Family Show, one of the greatest ones out there, the Midwest Regional Toe Show, and it's their 47th year. Folks, you don't want to miss this. It's back at the Great Wolf Lodge and they have tremendous things going on both of them. Those are between the PWL. North Carolina has bounced back with a tremendous growth on their shows and growing their formats. Also, the Midwest Regional has bounced back over to the Great Wolf Lodge, which is going to bring back everything that we enjoyed about it so much our vendors, our attendants. So let me tell you I'm excited about this year. 2025's looking fantastic.
Speaker 2:A lot of great shows coming up, a lot of opportunities. But the key is make sure you're out there, Make sure you're seeing folks and vendors. Let me tell you, if I walk past your booth and you're eating a sandwich, if you're staring at your phone, I'm going to look at you and give you a funny eye because you'll come back and say the show wasn't any good. Be approachable in your booth, Put a smile on your face.
Speaker 2:You only got to do it for two days. It's long hours and, believe you, my dogs are going to be hurting and this head will be sunburned and look like a tomato. But if you get out there and put a smile on your face, there's so many opportunities at these shows to just knock one out of the park to meet some great people that you have solutions for. It's just a place to be. So, again, from the publishing side, DJ, I got to say if I was DJ and I was prescribing something, I would say print, advertising, digital, social trade shows. You've got to have a prescription for each one of them to be successful.
Speaker 1:Amen. Well, before I let you end the whole event, because it's been a great podcast, I want to remind everyone who's going to Florida. First of all, drive safely, carry some sunburn lotion. It's beautiful, sunny, hot down there. It doesn't have the snow or the rain or the bad weather some people up north are having. So when you come, bring a suntan lotion with you, bring a hat to wear on your head, bring comfortable shoes and make sure you visit everyone Because, darren's right, this Toe Show. They bring out the brand new equipment and things that they want to show. New adventures, new products that they want to share with our industry are shared at this show. So, without further ado, let me pass it over to you, darren, and you do like we always do. I tell people, you and I stand for the flag and kneel for the cross, and I love how you end our podcast.
Speaker 2:Well man DJ, I tell you it was 14 years ago that I was let go from a job where I started a publication in the helicopter market Road to craft professional, still out there thriving. When I looked at my wife and said what do you do, she said do what God's pushing you to do. 14 years down the road, here we are 14 years and three and a half months Big smile on her face. It's been a lot of struggle but it's been a lot of blessings too, from God. That's where I draw everything from and let me tell everybody I'm nowhere even close to being 100% where I need to be, maybe not even 60. But I am certainly an example of how God can hit a perfect lick with a bent stick. So he's got some work to do on me, but he's blessed me through all the struggles. Everyone, make sure you stop by and see us, booth number 369. We've been there. This will be our 14th year attending. You can stop by and see us. If I'm not at the booth, my number direct number 205-223-4548. You can hit me up. I'll come right back to the booth and see you. I'll just be running around kissing babies and shaking hands, doing my thing. So I appreciate every one of you. I'll be showing up with my sun lotion, a hat and some white legs, because we've had nothing but cold weather up here in storms.
Speaker 2:But if you bow your head, dear heavenly father, I just thank you for all your blessings. I thank you for your protection. I thank you for the struggles that add to educate us and give us knowledge on how to be a better person on day to day. Heavenly Father, I thank you for every one of our vendors. I thank you for their belief in us. I ask that you bless them for that, increase their wisdom, increase their prosperity and their blessings for them and their family.
