Richard is an Outdoor Enthusiast, co-founder, and Chief Adventure Officer of Steller - the app that connects travelers with cool new places and experiences.
The NYTimes calls him the Father of Modern Adventure Travel and Explorers Web named him one of 100 Great Explorers of the Last 100 Years.
Richard has spent 30 years + as an explorer and communicator. Back in the 90s, Richard produced the first internet travel site - MTSobek (www.mtsobek.com), the first travel CD ROM - The Adventure Dis), and the first virtual expeditions site - Terra Quest (www.terra-quest.com ).
Richard has been an Adventure Filmmaker and Director, Contributing Author for many magazines, he has written numerous books and produced numerous documentaries, many of which have resulted in awards. He has lectured at the Smithsonian, the National Geographic Society, the Explorers Club, and other notable venues.
