Unmasking the Heart: Betty Bradshaw's Journey of Faith and Transformation

Matt Beckenham Season 6 Episode 7

Send us a text

What happens when we finally remove the masks we've worn for decades? Betty Bradshaw's transformational journey takes us from performance-driven perfectionism to authentic spiritual identity in this powerful conversation.

Betty opens up about growing up in a chaotic home with a brother battling addiction, which led her to build strong protective walls and dedicate herself to "doing everything the right way." This pattern served her well through raising four children and running a business, but left her true self hidden behind carefully constructed barriers of achievement and competence.

The empty nest phase brought a pivotal question: "What am I going to do now?" Though initially resistant, Betty found herself in a life-changing Bible study that transformed her relationship with the Holy Spirit. She shares the powerful moment in 2016 when prayer released her from the weights she hadn't realized she carried—fear, pride, judgment, and performance—setting her on a path toward her true calling.

We explore how this spiritual awakening transformed her marriage as she learned to honor her husband differently, creating a new oneness between them that mirrors the vulnerability she discovered with God. This personal journey ultimately led to the birth of Fresh Wind Ministries, where Betty now creates safe spaces for others to encounter the Holy Spirit and discover their authentic identity.

What makes this story particularly compelling is Betty's willingness to surrender control and follow God's leading one day at a time. Her perspective that "God works in seasons and isn't bound by time" offers hope to anyone feeling stuck in performance-based living or wondering if their past has purpose.

Speaker 1:

In this session of the Greater Things Podcast, I am with Betty Bradshaw. She is the leader and pioneer of a work in Houston that's called Fresh Wind, I trust you'll enjoy. Well, today on the Greater Things Podcast, I'm with a person I met back in 2023. I was invited to come to do a couples retreat at Betty and Ken's place in. Well, it's outside of Houston. I actually don't know the suburb or the region or anything like that, but they call it the ranch. But I am with Betty Bradshaw and I just want to introduce her and then we can just flow from there. So, betty, firstly, how are you doing?

Speaker 2:

I'm doing well, thank you. I so appreciate you having me on here. What a blessing.

Speaker 1:

When Trish and I met well, we met a whole crew out of Houston. Denny McKay decided that it'd be really cool to do some sort of couples retreat and we got to meet yourself and, obviously, kent a whole range of just beautiful couples that were on a journey, and it really blessed me to sit there and listen to stories and to discover. And when I came away from that I remember saying to Denny I just actually want to build a relationship with Betty and Kent. I want to discover the why, I want to understand their heart, to step out and do something new. And so today we're just going to be chatting around. Who is Betty Bradshaw? And I'm trusting that, as the listeners are hearing, they'll discover the courage or the faith that's taken for Betty to do the things that you do. So, betty, can you just could you introduce yourself?

Speaker 2:

Sure, my name is Betty Bradshaw and the Lord is just so amazing I mean, how he took just an ordinary person like me and he is so extraordinary that he just puts these plans and our heart's desires and our dreams inside of our heart and he allows them to come forth, and I'd be glad to share some of my journey of how that happened. But he's just so amazing, yeah.

Speaker 1:

I love that. So, betty, you're a mom to how many beautiful humans thank you.

Speaker 2:

My husband and I've been married 39 years almost 39 years and we have four. My husband and I have been married 39 years almost 39 years, and we have four adult children and they're all married and our 12th grandbaby is due in March. So my first part of my life, you know, was just a full-time mom and also had a business that I ran on the side part-time doing bookkeeping for senior adults to bring in extra funds to help with the family and anyway, I love to share some of my journey of how God just worked this. But this is kind of my second half of you know. Okay, once my kids grew up and they were independent and had lives of their own and it's like, okay, what am I going to do? What am I doing and can I share some of that journey, do you?

Speaker 1:

want me to share some of that journey?

Speaker 2:

Okay, so you know, I was raised well. I just came to know the Lord at a young age and my childhood was pretty chaotic because my siblings were doing things, my oldest brother was a drug addict, and so that brought a lot of chaos into the home, and so, anyway, the Lord has always been just so near and so precious, even before I knew I knew a Savior. I know he was comforting me, speaking to me, drawing me close to Him, and so I came to know Christ when I was in high school and just even had a relationship with Holy Spirit. And so anyway, just you know, after Kent and I got married, we raised our kids and we were doing all the right things, but I just started, my heart grew cold towards him. I lost my first love towards the Lord because I just got so busy. I mean, life was hectic, life was busy, we're running the rat race, just you know but enjoying every minute. We had a very comfortable life and between raising kids and you know, we take them to church, we raise them the right way, just all that thing. And it wasn't until some friends kept asking me to do this Bible study and I was like nope, nope, I don't want to read the books, I'm too busy. And so I. Finally, when my last child went to college, I said, you know, I don't really have any more excuses. Another friend asked me to join and it was a Bible study called In the Spirit, and at the time we were in evangelical churches. And so I went and it was just so appropriate because we were having a difficult time with one of our kids in the decisions that they were making at that time. And you know, the Lord just met me there and he just knew that I needed a community that loved me for where I was, and it was a spirit-filled it's like baptizing the Holy Spirit. And when I went through that teaching I was like, oh, my goodness, I have that.

Speaker 2:

I had that experience with the Lord back when I was a teenager that my mom had taken me to, and so it was like this was the first time that I started in this Bible study. Usually when I did Bible study I would just check off my box. I did my homework, the homework's complete. Okay, it's, you know I'm good. And when I did this study it was a lot more of like, okay, sit with the Lord, just, you know, ask, just just sit with Him and he started changing me and he started like it was during that and my husband and I were having a hard time, you know, learning how to let go and let God, and it was so much this difficult time that we were having with one of our children it was really not just about them, it was about Kent and my dependence upon the Lord, and how are we going to try to control and hang on? Are we going to let God really take care of our kids? And so, anyway, it was just a real journey for us. And so, after three years of that study and learning about the Holy Spirit and encountering Him, you know, on top of all the foundational teaching that I had, god just, really just ignited something in my heart that was so beautiful and really it was in 2016 that I just had a beautiful. It was like the Lord started really dealing with my heart and I encountered Him in ways that I've never encountered.

Speaker 2:

And we were at one conference and this man who was the chief prayer officer came up to me and he was like, hey, do you need prayer? Would you like prayer? Well, first he asked my husband does your wife need prayer? And he was like, yeah, she really does. And so he came up the next day and asked me he and my husband, would you like prayer? And I was like, of course you never, you know, turn anybody down if they want to pray for you. And I was like, okay, sure, yeah. And the music, the music worship music was going on. The lights started going down. This was in a ballroom, like and the music worship music was going on, the lights started going down. This was in a ballroom, like. It was a but yeah.

Speaker 2:

And then it was like they started praying for me my husband, this man, colin, and another friend of his. I just started sobbing and sobbing and sobbing and the Lord was just like, all of a sudden, it's like all this weight just lifted off my shoulders. And it was. The Lord told me that it was. He was setting me free from fear, from pride, from judgment, from self-condemnation, from performance. Like he was like lifting, it's like all that stuff that's okay to carry as a cultural Christian, like it's okay to be, you know, to worry or to anxiety, or just because that's the way it is. And it's like no, no, no, it's like the Lord just totally took all that off of me and then he allowed me, just, and then four days later I was at my graduation from this Bible study and it's like, oh, wow, the Holy Spirit, just it's like he just blew life into my life, like it was like so he set me free, took off all that over me and just set me free and that was the start of my, my new life.

Speaker 2:

Um, I was like I countered the lord in such a powerful way and someone spoke into my life for them for the first time, like in a prophetic word, and it was so strong and it was like that I would, I would walk with those in prophetic, I would walk with those who knew the glory of the Lord. I was one who could stand in the glory of the Lord and I'm like what? I have no idea what any of that means, but it was like it just resonated with my spirit and I remember saying to the Lord I can't do this without my husband. And he was more like, ah, I don't know what this is. And I was like, lord, there's something big that you're doing and I'm just gonna go with it and I just, I just know.

Speaker 1:

It's like there was no turning back at that point I love that after meeting kent and spending a weekend with him, I could just see the. That man has courage, he has strength and he felt like a, like a real um, like he's the anchor of it all and you could see the way he processes, you could see the way that he thinks, and I loved his curiosity and I think that's a key for so much of Christianity. We're so long in our world, Betty. I don't know if it's the same in America as it's been in Australia, but curiosity wasn't encouraged. It was like here's what you believe. And if anyone got curious around that, it's like why are you asking those questions? And so I love that.

Speaker 1:

People have been, I guess, on your tail to say come to Bible study. And you're like well, why? What do I need that for? But all of a sudden, God broke through into that. So tell me, Betty, like what was the revelation around identity? Like you discovered something of freedom. You discovered something of Holy Spirit. You discovered these things of language that you're going. I don't even know what that is, but having these weights lifted off me allowed me to be who I was created to be. Like are you able to put your finger on an identity piece there, as in who is Betty Bradshaw?

Speaker 2:

Yes, I mean it's been a journey because really my identity was wrapped up in my performance and I think at a young age and my God just revealed that to me recently at a young age I really put up very strong barriers, self-protective walls, I should say, not wanting to be like my brother and cause so much pain in the family. And so I kind of made a vow to do everything the right way to please my parents, to please society, to really to perform, to do well, and really my life has been built on that and it really served me well for all those years. But I really didn't know who I was. I wore a mask and had a facade of what I let people see, wasn't very vulnerable, wasn't very penetratable. I had lots of friends and I was nice and I was friendly, but not very many people I would let in, especially women. And so it's really funny now that I, you know, I lead a women's ministry and I absolutely love women, but I've always was able to relate to men better because I had gotten hurt so bad from, you know, girls growing up. So I really, you know, here I had the facade of everything is great, everything's perfect, but on the inside, there was insecurity and there was, you know, doubt and just all kinds of self you know things like, and worry and pride and judgment and all that stuff. Self, you know things like, and worry and pride and judgment and all that stuff.

Speaker 2:

And so after I came, I had that experience with the Lord in 2016. You know, here I had raised my kids and they're out of the house now and so I could really be whoever I wanted to be and wasn't focused on them and, as the Lord, as I was growing in the Holy Spirit and growing in just relationship with Him and intimacy with Him, he started revealing the spiritual identity of who I was and that was just so freeing and he's slowly allowed that mask to come off. And it's not about my accomplishments, it's about Him. My accomplishments it's about Him and it's like even a word spoken over to me in 2016 at that retreat was find out who you are. And she said I think you're going to be really surprised at who God says you are.

Speaker 2:

You know you might want to study identity and because it was all about like I was a great tennis player and I excelled in that and I would just, you know, might want to study identity and because it was all about, like, I was a great tennis player and I excelled in that and I would just you know I was. Whatever I did, I did it with excellence, but it was all about my flesh rather than the spirit, and so the lord's been unfolding. Who are you in the spirit? And it's just, it's amazing, the treasure that's inside each one of us. That's what I love and how he wants us to honor people, because there is so much potential in each person for the body of Christ and for that tapestry.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's one of the things that I loved watching yourself do when we were hanging out back in 2023 is that nurturing that discipleship, that discovery of who is the person that sits in front of us. And again, this is for me. It's such a part of my heart and I think it's why I resonated so strongly with what you were doing. The whole concept of Fresh Wind was the idea that every single person has a story. Every single person has a story. Every single person has a voice.

Speaker 1:

Every single person has something in their spirit that is just so unique and so beautiful that often in churches, because we meet with the whole group, they can be pushed to the side or they can be put I was going to say put down, but it's probably the wrong phrase to use inside of that but pushed down, and so their true self, that identity piece, is not actually seen. But when you help a person discover who they are, there's something about, there's a real sense of love and grace in those moments, because they can be who they are in a world that, like you say, we've put masks on forever. In churches, we've done the same too, like when I grew up, you had to wear your Sunday best to church, which back in the 70s was probably a velour purple jumper or something like that.

Speaker 1:

But these days it's not about just coming in, whatever, but it's just discovering who. Would that resonate with you, Betty?

Speaker 2:

Oh, definitely, and just that. You know, that's one of the parts. That's like fresh wind is kind of twofold. One is to present an atmosphere where people feel safe and secure and the presence of the Holy Spirit, because he's the one that teaches, he's the one that heals. The presence of the Holy Spirit because he's the one that teaches, he's the one that heals, he's the one so we just usher in His presence where he is providing a safe place for that and for people to start coming into.

Speaker 2:

Who am I? What's my identity? Who does God say that I am? And then also, just then to equip and to launch and to stir those gifts in each other. And already God has been like I keep seeing whirlwinds and he's like he's doing this work and transforming us each one, and then he's turning them out and then they're starting to produce the plans and purpose that he has for them, and so it's like that's how it's like multiplying. It's like people come in and this community is like of healing and just understanding the love of the Father through Jesus Christ and what Christ has done for us and through the presence of the Holy Spirit, and then being transformed and going out and doing what God's called them to do all within community and love and honor and respect. And it's beautiful, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Can you just be able to articulate what Fresh Wind does on a like a regular basis?

Speaker 2:

Well, that's a good question, Cause it just we just go with the flow. I we meet on Monday afternoons and so it's mainly women between their 40s and 80s that come, and then we have some women who are working and they come during lunch hour and we have a few men that come who are retired and are able to take off. But it's just, you know, it grows. And the Lord was like people come in and people go out, and so every season is different on who comes in and who goes out. It's really interesting and I was starting to get a little bit going. Oh Lord, you know, people come in for the big speakers. And he was like you know, and I was saying that to a friend one day and all of a sudden the Lord like stopped me and he said did I say that? And I'm like, oh no. And he said people can come in and they can go out. There's different seasons.

Speaker 2:

And then the Lord gave me a testimony just recently of a lady who had come two and a half years ago, heard a speaker was really God just started changing her heart. Another friend's been walking with her and she comes periodically whenever she hears someone's coming, and she's a homeschool mom so she can't come all the time and to see the transformation in this lady after two and a half years, because she came out and she came in and she went out, and she came in and she went out and it was like the Lord was like. It was just like who do you say that you know? It's like who do you think you are? It's like I know Lord. Thank you, I love that correction that he gave me.

Speaker 2:

So it really is. People come in, go out depending on what they're doing, and now we have partner ministries that people have started that we collaborate with, and so some people are in small group learning how to pray for those who are physically healed or encountering the Father's heart. And what is really special that the Lord's allowed me and Kent to do because he's in business full time is he. You know, you have been to the ranch and the ranch has been a place where we've been able to host these small group gatherings. That has allowed people to grow, to transform, to form community, and there's just something about having a two or three day intensive than just coming to a two hour meeting, and so that's been really special.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I love that you pivot so easily with some of this sort of stuff and I know it's a wrestle at times because, again, in the world that we live in, sometimes the models of success that we are constantly in our faces can very much influence both you and I, particularly if we've come from places where performance has been so much a part of just the way that we've done life. I know for myself as a pastor for 20 years, at times it felt like I've got to entertain rather than engage. I've got to have great messages, I've got to have good worship, I've got to do these things to draw people in and you just feel like God's going. Actually, it's not about all of that stuff. It's fun to have great music, it's awesome to have great messages, but at the heart of it is the transformation. At the heart of it is the Holy Spirit working with that particular lady that you're talking about. That just comes in every now and then and I have this belief that the right time is the right time.

Speaker 1:

And so if she was there every single week, maybe she wouldn't have received the revelation that she's had, maybe she wouldn't engage with God the way that she does now, but that she's been given that grace and that place to just to enter in. And all of a sudden things are changing and I love, I love, betty, when you can testify to change. It's not just one of those Sunday testimonies where we say how good is church, but you're actually sitting with a lady going. I can see where you've started from and I can see now where you are. That's her story and you've been, and this is where I, in these moments for myself. It's such an honour to sit in a place of vulnerability and authenticity, to see somebody think one way, do life one way, and now all of a sudden they're seeing something so far greater, so much more peace in their lives. But we get to be a part of that. I'm assuming that blesses you as much as it blesses me.

Speaker 2:

Definitely, definitely it does, yeah, yeah, I mean that's my, you know, that's that God's been in my heart and that's stirring. And it was really interesting because, you know, I was, my life was pretty comfortable, you know, raising all my kids and spending time with green kids, but there was just such a like, when I experienced the Lord in such that intense, special way, I knew that there was no turning back and it was like yes Lord, yes Lord, yes Lord, whatever you want, whatever you want. And so I stepped right into teaching with that ministry because a prophetic word was I was supposed to teach. I'm like, oh, I don't think I'm a teacher, but I'll step into it. My husband was the one going don't you think you need to teach? That's what it said. And I'm like I'll wait three years till I retire and he goes, it doesn't say that. It was just so literal. And I was like, oh, and so I stepped into teaching and then leadership and then starting other classes with this ministry and it was fantastic training ground, like it was like here I was mentoring women, loving women, teaching women and building community and building leadership teams, and then it was exactly. You know, he doesn't waste anything in our lives and he uses it all. You know whether we think we might have even like, gone wayward, like he still and they're excited about the Lord and I've seen change. But then they don't have community and they go back to what's comfortable and it's like, wow, we just, you know, I know the Lord is doing a work here, but there's so much more I want you to walk in the more, and that's why the Lord just had me start Fresh Wind.

Speaker 2:

And it was through a prophetic word I received in 2019. And the prophetic guy was like you have a call of Deborah on your life. It's time to start a Bible study, it's time to write a commentary, you know, and just kind of went on and it will grow, and I was like that just resonated in my heart and it kind of gave me permission. So for the next year and a half with COVID and all that, it gave me a chance just to chew on it and pray about it and ask different leaders what do you think, and that kind of thing. And then I had a friend who said, okay, I'm giving you six weeks. This was in May of 21. I'm giving you six weeks to start this. I was like, okay, and so I did. And then it's just like the Lord said it would grow and it would grow and it would grow. And so it was like I cannot not do what he's wanting me to do yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1:

I love that your focus has been on the Bible studies, the small groups, the weekends that you have at the ranch there, where you're inviting people away to sit with you, because I feel like for me that's where the real things actually occur, because you can do life with people, you can hear their stories, you can engage with who they are, and that when you say that people would do the course but then couldn't find community or would go back to just old ways of thinking and old ways of doing and all that sort of stuff and they lose some of the teaching, community is such an important part of the kingdom of God and, like I'm old enough to have seen enough, lone rangers in the kingdom get out there and do their thing and that's all cool for them, I guess, but for me it happens in connection, it happens in community, it's like a collaboration. It's like when I sat down with Kent just to listen like he shared with me what he thought about a book that I wrote and to collaborate how it hit him, how it spoke to him, how he tested it, how he processed it. It became like a collaboration moment of wisdom. And that's what I think the kingdom, where the kingdom thrives.

Speaker 1:

What you know, I don't, and what I know maybe you don't, but collectively we have like a double portion that can actually do something. That is this beautiful creative moment of what the kingdom looks like and like. When I heard Denny speak about fresh wind, very interested in that concept too because again, it's something new, it's something of the Holy Spirit, and for something to be new you got to recognize that something is old as well and we can honor where we've been in a very beautiful way, but now is the day to step in to what is fresh. Does that all resonate with you as well, betty?

Speaker 2:

Oh, definitely, definitely. And you know, just by personality and gifting, it's more of a redemptive gift of ruler and let's build and let's, you know, kind of put things together and that kind of thing. So I have some natural giftings, but it was really this time he wasn't letting me build. It was like the Lord was like okay, just slow down, we're going to do this together. We're going to do this together, and so he wouldn't. He doesn't give me a whole lot of what's in advance, just a little bit like what I need to know.

Speaker 2:

And he, as I look back, over the last three years, the people that have come through, just like yourself and Trish, who have poured into us at Fresh Wind, has been absolutely astounding and beautiful, because everyone is so different and have different anointings and different giftings and different messages on their heart. And we've done workshops all the way to speakers, so some have ministries. Now we're doing discipleship, like there's like the whole gamut, and I'm like, oh Lord, the favor and grace of just walking with Him and he's learning me to, he's teaching me to trust Him, he's teaching me to listen to His voice, to have confidence that it's His voice and to know that I'm going to make some mistakes, and before that was just uncalled for, like oh, if I made a mistake, I was so hard on myself and now it's like you know what I'm going to make mistakes.

Speaker 2:

I mean, it was just like you know and you know what Super messy and there's going to be some conflicts and there's going to be stuff that we have to resolute and there's going to be refining and that we have to resolute and there's going to be refining and there's going to be like all that is part of it. But I do want to say that the Lord has brought absolutely beautiful people to walk alongside of me, and Denny's being one who can talk openly and honestly and help me and kind of mold me to make sure that I'm walking in sync with the Lord and the Lord's heart, and I just can I go back on one thing the Lord just keeps putting something on my heart. You know, my husband and I we had our ups and downs in marriage, especially when it came to disciplining the kids and running the household, and so it got to the point where I was pretty overbearing and like what I? He became just focused on work and it was easier for him to be so focused on work and be kind of passive at the house, because I overruled him, not even realizing I was doing it to that extent, and so all of our conflicts came from raising kids and so then, after they got out of the house and it was like, oh okay, so you're the person I married, like it was.

Speaker 2:

You know, it's real easy to kind of run in different directions, but it was during that time that I was in that three-year Bible study that he started noticing a difference in me, and it was because I started honoring him.

Speaker 2:

And it wasn't all about me leading, it was about honoring his opinions, his thoughts, the way he disciplined, just honoring him and respecting him as a person, his thoughts, the way he disciplined, just honoring him and respecting him as a person. And he has always been very good about not micromanaging me or you know, he's always had respect and love. But it was like, for the first time, god started changing his heart towards me and towards the Lord, because I started respecting and loving Him for who God made Him to be. At the same time, god was showing me who, starting to show me who I was. And so now, as we walk together, we walk as one and I'm able to share things with Him that before I never shared, like I just never was that vulnerable with Him with my emotions or my thoughts or any of that. And so it's like this oneness that we have now. It's like, oh, that's what it's like walking with the Father, where you just are completely transparent and completely open, and the peace and the joy that comes from walking together is just amazing.

Speaker 1:

And this is the heart of everything we've been speaking about too. If you can't do the things at home that you're doing in front of people, that is a mask, because you're pretending, because it's at home. That's where the real world operates 24 7 and it's where we, we do relationship, it's where we do identity. And to listen to you go. Okay, I had to slow down, discover who I was, I discovered who he was and then, all of a sudden, something started shifting and changing again. In my language, that's what we call transformation, and to be able to testify to it shows again. That's your story. Nobody can go. That's rubbish, because, like, if we sat down with Kent, like you'd hear a similar story but from a different perspective, but you would again feel the oneness that the two of you carry.

Speaker 1:

And for Trish and I, that's exactly what we saw. That's why I'm keen to hang out with you guys more and be a part of that world, because I could see that and more than that, I could feel it, and when you can feel something inside of it, like it's again, there's a journey. That's there. There has been conflict, but there's actually been resolution. There have been challenges, but there's been healing. There has been some head-butting moments where we've gone I don't know how to do this but now we've got conversation that's flowing from healthy places where we can see where we've come from to now where we're going. And, betty, I love that you're able to bring that into running couples retreats. I love that you're able to bring that into running Fresh Wind, and I can only imagine where God's going to be taking you. But, like you say, sometimes God just gives us the day, and we would like the next week or the next month or even the next year, but sometimes it's just the day, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Like that wild race horse he had to like, really like, tame me, bring me back, for he's in control and I surrender to him yeah, that's so good.

Speaker 1:

Well, betty, this is a moment where I often say this is a sealer moment, just to put a pause in the conversation to see where god takes, and maybe we come back and do another one at another time. Is there a word that you'd like to drop on this recording before we disappear? Is there something else that God's placed on your heart, or is there something he's showed you recently that you feel like might be cool to share?

Speaker 2:

You know he was bringing to mind. I think you had asked last week, how did Fresh Wind come to be, about the Fresh Wind name? And I just love how God just weaves everything together. And during May of 21, we had gotten some news that our kids had done something that we were really sad about, and I was really sad, and so my husband has a heart of worship, and so he said you know you might like this song, and that song by Hillsong came out of Fresh Wind. I don't know if you've heard it, but it was just like, and I would listen to it, it was just like healing balm to my soul. And so, anyway, and then it was a month later that I started Fresh Wind. I played that song every week and then my mother-in-law was actually coming to the meetings Kent's mom and said, are we going to meet in the fall? And I was like, oh well, I guess. So Okay, let's see what God does. And then I was like I have no idea what to call this. And another friend said, well, how about Fresh Wind? And I was like, oh, that's great, let's do that.

Speaker 2:

And then, a year later, a friend was taking me through a kingdom identity class where you start listening. She had God had put on her heart to start doing this class, and so part of it was to transcribe a few of your prophetic words. And so I was transcribing the word that I had gotten in 2016. It was so incredibly powerful, so I was transcribing it. That was so incredibly powerful, so I was transcribing it. And as I was, then she I didn't remember this, but as I transcribed it she had said there's a fresh wind blowing over you. And that was in 2016.

Speaker 2:

Fast forward in 2019, 2021, I hear that song and I named the ministry Fresh Wind and I just love how God is not bound by time or space and how he put that over here in 2016. And then he knew ahead of time of 2021 and how all that was going to weave together. And then 2025, this is exactly what we're in a fresh season, a fresh wind of what he's doing. He's like the old has passed and he's blowing all that away and he's blowing in the freshness of His Spirit and it's like that. It's fresh, it's not stale, it's like that it's fresh, it's not stale, it's there, but it's like a renewing. And then that whole breath of wind and ruha and just blowing life and speaking life into our spirit.

Speaker 1:

It's just amazing.

Speaker 2:

Betty. If people want to get in contact or find out more about Fresh Wind, what's the best way to do that? Yeah, the best way is to email me. I don't have a website yet. He hasn't let me do that, so, following his lead, I do have a weekly newsletter, but if anyone wants to email me at betty at freshwindministriesorg, betty at freshwindministriesorg. Betty at freshwindministriesorg.

Speaker 1:

Excellent, we'll put that on the link on the podcast, so if people are interested, they can jump on and get in contact with you. Betty, how does that work?

Speaker 2:

Well, you know one more thing I was going to say is, even though we don't have a website, we do do our meetings on Zoom also, and then we have recordings of those meetings if people want to watch later. And we have a Monday morning call of just like listening to the Lord and then sharing what he's saying about Fresh Wind and about His movement, and we have people from one from Idaho here we are in Houston. We have one from Idaho, one lady from England, one from Tyler, so it's kind of like people are calling in and being part of community without even being local.

Speaker 1:

That's kind of what Greater Things does. We love drawing people from around the globe to sit in a. It is a Zoom room, but it's like we are sitting in the same room as each other and just getting to know each other and to hear what God's got on his heart for them. Well, betty, thank you so much for giving up your time. It's been a real honor to listen to your story.

Speaker 2:

Thank you, thank you.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Thank you for allowing me to share. It's been an honor for me.

Speaker 1:

It's been beautiful. Well for everybody listening. This is the Greater Things Podcast. Thank you for supporting what we're doing and we'll be back in your ears next time.

Speaker 2:
