In this Space Café Radio -  SpaceWatch.Global's Dr. Emma Gatti spoke with Dr. Nicole Quijano-Evans, Deputy Director, Crimes that Affect the Environment Program, Border Management Branch, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Vienna, Austria.

This episode was recorded in Oslo during GLOC -  Global Space Conference on Climate Change. GLOC was co-organized by the International Astronautical Federation (IAF), and the Norwegian Space Agency (NOSA).

Emma and Nicole discussed  how Space technologies support her work to stop illegal deforestation and timber trafficking,  which are the limitations she encounters in her daily job, and how free data sharing would make environmental protection operations much easier.

This radio episode is part of a joint collaboration between SpaceWatch.Global and the Norwegian Space Agency. Our collaboration focuses on creating tangible outreach for GLOC, while highlighting the commitment of the space industry to combat the climate crisis. This mini-series will explore the several approaches space is taking for climate change action and its significance for society,  as well as its practical results, challenges, and evolution into future applications.
