A Piece of Kake
Join co-hosts Sarah Campen and Mona Evan for stories of community, culture, and a whole lotta food from the village of Kake, Alaska: a traditionally Lingít community that Haida, Tsimshian and others now also call home.
A Piece of Kake
Piece of What?
Welcome to A Piece of Kake! Here you'll hear stories of community and culture from the Lingít village of Kake, Alaska. To kick off our very first episode, we introduce you to Kéex' Kwáan and the rural island community of Kake. Sarah asks Mona about her childhood growing up in Kake, and her hopes for the community's future. We talk about how our friendship started, how this podcast started, and our plans for A Piece of Kake!
Our theme song 'Saa yee gé' is used with permission of Khaanakh Dr. Ruth Demmert and performed by the Keex' Kwaan Dancers. Our logo was created by Tsimshian artist Abel Ryan. Interstitial music by Blue.Sessions. Produced by Erin McKinstry and Sarah Campen. Support provided by the Margaret Frans Brady Fund and the Organized Village of Kake.
