Mari and Greg

In this episode, we are somewhat making up for the bad audio of our "The Worm Eaters" episode by talking about "The Brainsucker," the somehow worse second, and only other, film directed by Herb Robins.

From 1988, it's the story of Max (played by Jonathan Mittleman, whose name is misspelled as "Middleman" in the credits,) who, after being used in a brain experiment, goes on a killing spree by, well, sucking out brains.

We watched this on YouTube, so the picture and audio quality are terrible. All the acting is bad. Everyone looks terrible, like they forgot to have anyone do hair and make-up. Max's spree goes from killing people he deems bad to ones who just happen to be there. His brain sucking machine looks like a mix of a bong and a Fisher Price toy with a crank. We can't figure out what the brain matter is. Is it tripe? Fatty chicken? How did Max set up an office in a hotel overnight? Why does the Presidential Suite look like any other crappy hotel room? Why does the Mexican cop have a French accent? Why did Mr. Robins wait eleven years to make this, only to make a movie worse than his first? Is the $386 in singles a reference to how much he spent making this? There is a lot more to question here, and we try to cover it all. Join us as we discuss a movie that luckily is closed captioned, so that we could use the occasional "[Applause]" to cheer ourselves as we dredge through this mess.

We spoil the hell out of this movie so you can decide if you'll stay clean or soak in this Corpse Tub.
