In the final instalment of my Misrepresentation of Drum and Bass series, I speak with Russ, a DJ, radio and podcast host and owner of the Interstellar Audio record label.

We speak about his journey through the scene from being an aspiring DJ to the transition period of becoming more of a creator into his own podcast and label. Russ speaks on how his own DnB podcast allows him to combine his love for the scene and the music and combine the two types of media.

We also touched on the increasing popularity of DnB and how this could be affecting the scene and changing the way that the music, raves, and culture is experienced. Also, the broad nature of the genre and how two tracks that fall under the DnB 'umbrella' can be so vastly different, proving that there's something for everyone, wether you're a fan of Latte or Calibre.

We also discussed the concept of branding and how creating a brand identity is crucial to engagement, but building an image, especially when as humans we are constantly evolving, can leave use feeling inauthentic. We speak about Dom Whiting and how he made his authenticity a brand. He took what he wanted to do and the brand followed, not vice versa.

Thankyou to Russ for speaking to me and being the final instalment of this DnB chapter.
