Addressing Anxiety - 5 Minute Meditation for Kids: This mindfulness and breathing exercise helps children calm down when they experience anxiety.

Anxiety is very real and can be overwhelming for all of us, especially children. Breathing and positive affirmations can have a calming effect that helps ease fears. Once children know these tools, they can tap into them at any time of the day.

Mindfulness is an important theme in 'The Paper Girls Show'. Together with "Making" and "Mistakes", they create the "3 M's of The Paper Girls Show", which serve as the series' pillars.
"Make things Mindfully – don't sweat your Mistakes", as our mantra goes!

The goal of this series is to help guide children through mindful breathing techniques, visualizations, and positive affirmations to self-soothe and use throughout the day when needed.

Anxiety is the feeling of being scared about being scared.

Or it's a constant feeling of being nervous.

Doing breathing exercises actually calms your body and you feel less anxious and nervous.

Let us calm our body now.

Go ahead and get into a comfortable position.

You can sit in a chair or on the floor. You can even lie down if you’re able.

Close your eyes or rest your gaze on the floor below you.

Let’s take a long slow deep breath in through our nose, and allow that breath to slowly be exhaled from your mouth.

Again, another long slow deep breath in through your nose and release that breath out of your mouth.

And become aware of how your body breathes for you. Do you breath in and out of your mouth, in and out of your nose or a combination of the two?

Just feel your breath for a couple of moments and notice how your body naturally breathes for you.

Let us take a long slow deep breath in through our nose again bringing that breath into our lungs, filling our lungs all the way with that breath and then release that breath out of your mouth.

Let’s take a long slow deep breath in again through our nose, bringing that breath to our heart, surrounding our heart with that breath, and exhale out of your mouth.

Let us bring the words “I can do anything” to our mind and to our throat. And each time we breath in, silently say the words I can do anything, I can do anything.

I can do anything.

I can do anything.

Take a long slow deep breath in through your nose, bringing that breath to your heart, surrounding your heart with that breath, and exhale out of your mouth.

And With your eyes still closed become aware of your surroundings. What noises do you hear? How does your body feel?

Begin to wiggle your fingers.

Put a big smile on your face and open your eyes! Breath through your day! You always have your breath to help calm you! You can do anything!
