Trying Something New - 5 Minute Meditation for Kids: This mindfulness and breathing exercise is designed to help assist children in times of change.

Trying something new – or any transitions in life – can bring about anxiety associated with the unknown. This meditation uses breathing techniques and positive affirmations that can assist children during these transitory periods.

Mindfulness is an important theme in 'The Paper Girls Show'. Together with "Making" and "Mistakes", they create the "3 M's of The Paper Girls Show", which serve as the series' pillars.
"Make things Mindfully – don't sweat your Mistakes", as our mantra goes!

The goal of this series is to help guide children through mindful breathing techniques, visualizations, and positive affirmations to self-soothe and use throughout the day when needed.

Our practices contain:
🧘‍♀️ Mindful breathing exercises for kids

Speaker 1:

Hello. I am terrace tore. Whenever we are about to do something new, like the first day of school, it can be super exciting, but also make us feel a little nervous. We have extra energy in our belly that some people call jitters or nervousness, butterflies, or even a belly ache. But what it is is just extra energy and what we name the energy is how we will feel. So when we name the energy, excitement, that is how, how we will feel for the rest of the day. And just by saying the words exciting or excitement puts a smile on our face. So let's go ahead and take a couple minutes to be mindful, to calm ourselves before we do something new. So get, and when you're ready, you can close your eyes or just rest them. Rest your gaze on the floor in front of you. And let's go ahead and take a long, slow, deep breath in through your nose and exhale out your mouth. And let's bring our awareness to our face to the area, right in between your eyebrows. Allow this area to soften and allow this softness to move up over your forehead down along your temples, softening the corners of your eyes. Moving that softness down along your cheekbones, softening the corners of your mouth, your chin, moving that softness up your jaw line and softening the corners of your ears.<affirmative> and just become aware of your breathing. How does your body breathe for you naturally? Do you breathe in and out of your nose in and out your mouth or a combination of the two? Just watch your breath for a moment And let us take a long, slow, deep breath into our nose. Bringing that breath into our belly and watching that as it comes up and we exhale out our mouth And let us bring a positive affirmation to mind that we will say silently in our mind, each time we take a breath thin and each time we exhale, I am courageous. I am going to have a great day. I am courageous. I am going to have a great day. Repeat. I am courageous. I am going to have a great day with each inhale and exhale. I am courageous. I am going to have a great day. Let us take a long, slow, deep breath into our nose and release out your mouth. Begin to become aware of your surroundings. What noises do you hear begin to become aware of your legs of your arms, wiggle your fingers, wiggle your to, and when you are ready, open your eyes, you are going to have a great day for you are very courageous. Repeat that to yourself throughout the day when you need it.
