Speaker 1:

Hello, hello, welcome to the last and the final podcast episode of Missions to Movements for 2023. Thank you for allowing me to be in your AirPods or wherever you're listening this year. It has truly been an honor and I am very excited for some conversations coming up next year. Get ready for lots of case studies, marketing case studies, diving into specifically how did X thing happen, from for-profit, social impact brands and nonprofits. It's going to be a good one. I'm very excited. However, I wanted to kind of pop on this bonus episode of sorts as a solo, quick one, going through something that I think I'm going through, maybe you're going through, and that is streamlining and decluttering as we go into the new year. I don't know about you, but my files on my computer and Canva are hot mess central. I wanted to share with you kind of my tactics and tips and tools of what I'm using as I am trying to streamline and declutter my marketing going into the new year. Kicking off the list number one, I am cleaning up my email list. If you've had a kind of stagnant open rate, it might just be because some of those emails aren't valid anymore. They've held left jobs, they've changed emails, for whatever reason. I use a tool called clean 13. It's clean with a K13. I will put a link to it in the show notes. It's really interesting. It provides you this list verification report. So not only does it tell you if your email addresses are verified, therefore deliverable, and also shares with you if there's emails that are a specific role addresses that you might want to remove, such as sales at or marketing at, and the distribution list is much higher than just one individual person, so you might want to remove those. It catches any spam trap emails which can hurt your reputation. It also catches any which is I think this is interesting. They're called complainers, which they deem. Complainers are commonly users who like to complain after receiving an email. Super funny, but you want to remove those. Any bots? I luckily did not have bots, any unknowns, which means they can't be verified at the moment. Any malicious domains, anyways, I just thought this was really interesting. My email address list came in at about 70%. That was a verified. So again, that's a good chunk for me, for me to be able to clean out. So that's number one. So he will prompt. Number two go through your subscriptions. I am using a program called Trim T-R-I-M where I'm gonna connect to my account and you can see any subscriptions that you want to cancel or negotiate or just overall track. It's kind of cool. You can find subscriptions and they can cancel them for you, and I think this is gonna be really interesting to see if there's tools that I honestly forgot about, that I don't have. Hopefully I don't anymore, but just in case, just so I can manage those. Number three I am going to declutter Canva. I just went in and did a quick filter to see my oldest files in there and they are from six years ago, which makes sense because next year will be seven years for a positive equation that's been in business, which is bin manners. But essentially, if you go, if you use Canva and on the left hand side, if you click all projects, then click designs and then if you filter by the oldest date, I am just gonna go in and start to delete, delete, delete, delete and then for the designs that I want to keep, I'm gonna organize them into folders. Look out for a Canva specific episode coming at the very beginning of the year that will dive into some more tips on how to use Canva in 2024. But for organization, I'm gonna start to declutter. Number four is insights. So I overall just wanna get like a look at the year and I'm gonna break down insights in three different ways. One I'm gonna go into my email. I use Flowdesk as my email provider and so there's a few different things within their insights and analytics I can see. Number one I'm gonna be looking at growth. What was my overall subscriber growth this year and where did they come from? Was it for uploads that I had from different speaking engagements? Was it form opt-ins from my website? Where did they come from? Number two I'm gonna be looking at my forms. So Canva or sorry, my Canva Flowdesk powers all of my forms on my site, which syncs to my emails, and I'm gonna be looking at the conversion rate of those. How many eyeballs did it hit and then what was the conversion rate? Which ones do I need to update and change? And then I'm gonna be looking at my emails overall my open rate, click through, unsubscribe. What were the most popular times where people actually opened my emails? What were my top subject lines for opens? And, really interesting, I did a quick filter before this recording and one of my top emails had an over 50% open rate and I was like, oh, what was the subject line? And it was from 100,000 to 1 million, how to make it happen. And so I thought that was pretty interesting and there was an emoji on that one. It was a little hand writing a pen. So which proves to my point about I want my podcast episodes to be more like this, more case study. X thing happened. How did it become possible? So that's email. Under insights, I also have social. I'm gonna take a look at my Google Analytics and see which social platforms were pushing the most traffic and the most engaged traffic. And I'm gonna look specifically at Instagram, linkedin and YouTube. What were my most viewed and engaged pieces of content on those platforms? And, ideally, to expand on those topics. And then, number three, I'm going to look at my podcast. So this very thing what were the top episodes? What did you enjoy listening to? Who was a great guest? What themes could be really popular and compelling for next year? So I'm gonna brainstorm podcast ideas. So that's insights. Number five is updates. So overall, I am going to comb through my website and see what needs to be updated. I recently did a brand shoot. What old images are on there? What copy doesn't resonate or make sense anymore? With what I'm doing. I'm gonna click through everything, what buttons don't work, and I wanna caveat this when I'm talking about some of these things that might be a little bit granular. I do have a virtual assistant. That is incredible and I just have them for 10 hours a month, which I know might seem little, but she gets so much done and I hire them through the More Than Giving Company. Jill Bentley over there runs a great service and I did wanna share with you. They have a special going on right now. Having a VA just to help with some of these tasks or whatever you want them to help with is so beneficial. They might VA company specifically works with nonprofit organizations or nonprofit consultants and you can receive 15 hours a month for only 6.99 per month for up to six months. They're doing the savings throughout the end of the year, the savings of over $125 a month. So that's huge. So if you are interested, please just reach out to me, send me an email at infoatpositiveequationcom. You can literally just put in the subject line VA and I'll know what you mean and I'll send you over the link with more details on that and I'll also put a link in the show notes. So if you feel like, yes, I want somebody to go through my website. However, I don't have the time to go through and click every single button Great task for a VA to do and just to create a spreadsheet for you about what button, what page it was on, doesn't work. This is where it goes. Four or four error or whatnot? Two updates I'm gonna go through all of my automated email workflows. So when somebody fills out a form, there's usually some sort of automated email sequence. Does that email sequence make sense? Is it still providing value? Is it the right value? Is it the right information? Where are things linking to Making sure all that is updated? So those are updates. Number six this is kind of a fun one Dream collaborations. To streamline and declutter also means focus for me, and so I'm gonna be thinking about dream collaborations and this is also kind of a hint to my Christmas holiday card that is going out this year, so you might be receiving it if you signed up for my email list and you filled out your address. Stay tuned in your mailbox. But my three buckets or verticals are going to be tech. So technology, lifestyle and marketing tools for dream collaboration. So I'm gonna be brainstorming those. And then number seven, which is honestly my favorite, is to streamline, to focus, declutter overall is I'm getting together for a goal setting and planning session with my traveling Blazor crew. At the very beginning of this year, we kicked off doing a virtual webinar session, if you, if that traveling Blazor group sounds familiar. We met through a mastermind program that we all did together in 2021. Five of us kind of came out of it and have continued to be best friends. I just attended one of their weddings. Somebody one of them came to my baby shower. So we are much more than business colleagues, but truly, really good friends and accountabilities for each other. So we're having this goal setting and planning session before the end of the year. If you don't have an accountability partner group to do something with, I absolutely recommend creating one. So send off a message to colleagues in the industry or friends to start one. They don't even have to be in the same industry as you. I honestly find we all do very different things and our time together is so valuable to learn from one another. So those are my top seven. So cleaning email list, going through subscriptions, decluttering Canva, going through my insights, going and updating web email, dream collaborations and hosting a goal setting and planning session. And speaking of planning, if you want to work together in 2024, I would love to and I want to share how that can be possible and the things that I'm planning to focus on in the new year. I will be offering my Grow your Email List Ads Challenge two times next year in March and September. This is a small group experience where I will guide you step by step on setting up a lead generation Facebook and Instagram Ads campaign where basically, I guarantee you will receive 100 new email leads in seven days of running that ad campaign. This past year somebody way over exceeded and had 400. Somebody else had like over 200 email leads, which is incredible, and you can find details for the next upcoming one is in March the March challenge on my website at positive equation dot com. Backslash grow dash your dash list dash challenge. That's obnoxious. So if you just click the link in the show notes or you can go to my website and it's right at the top ads challenge you can find it. That was just kind of funny to say on the podcast. Also, if you are interested in building or refreshing your monthly giving program, the next round of my monthly giving. Mastermind one of my favorite things to do will start in February and a fun new addition. This will be the fourth round of the mastermind and I will be hosting two annual reunion calls for all mastermind alumni to meet in brainstorm together during the year, which is always fun to see everyone come together. So if you are interested in joining the February spring crew, you can apply at positive equation dot com. Backslash mastermind. That one is much easier to say and the, if you can't make February we can also chat about. The next cohort will start in the summer, in July, so one until that you know about that. There will be in the monthly giving ecosystem here there will be a new free monthly giving community coming in Q one. I'm working on it. It's going to be a space where I want anybody who's either working on building or has one to a monthly giving program to come together and share ideas and resources and all jump in there and provide some programming. If that's of interest to you, dm me on LinkedIn with the word monthly. Just DM me on LinkedIn with the word monthly and I'll put my LinkedIn link in the show notes and I'll make sure that you're notified when that free monthly giving community is created. And then, lastly, if you are looking for a speaker for the new year or interested in partnering on this podcast, I would love to chat with you. You can send an email to info at positive equation dot com or DM me on LinkedIn. So with that, mary, mary, mary, everything, wishing you so much joy, health and happiness this holiday season and into the new year. I will see you in 2024.
