The Devil is the king of the Bottomless Pit.  And, there are two places in the Bible that talk about ascending out of this pit, one being in Revelation 11, which talks about the death of the Two Witnesses.  Seven facts should be noted here about this chapter.   First, the Temple of God in verse one is being measured because there's not enough righteousness to keep the city of Jerusalem going.  It's judgment time.  Second, the Gentiles have overthrown Jerusalem for a period of 42 months in verse two.  Third, these Two Witnesses conduct a ministry in verse three for 1,260 days.  Four,  "the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them"  Five, verse nine declares,  "And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.”  Six, these Two Witnesses are resurrected in verse eleven, saying,  "And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.”  Seven, Jesus Christ comes back quickly on the heels of the ascension of these Two Witnesses in verses fourteen and fifteen, which says,  “The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly. 15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.”  This episode helps a person see these facts more clearly.
