What Is Food Noise?
“Food noise is that constant inner dialogue around food. It’s thoughts like:
•‘What am I going to eat next?’
•‘I shouldn’t have eaten that.’
•‘I’ll start again on Monday.’
It’s exhausting and it’s not about hunger—it’s about habits, emotions, and sometimes… just boredom.”
Where Does It Come From?
“Food noise is usually triggered by:
•Emotional eating – using food to comfort stress, overwhelm or even celebration
•Diet culture – years of restriction create obsession
•Habit loops – like always having snacks when watching telly
•Blood sugar dips – yes, physical cravings play a part too!
And if you’re a busy mum, juggling everything, it’s easy to lose touch with your body’s actual hunger cues.”
How Do We Quiet It?
“This is where the real magic starts:
1.Pause & check in – ask yourself: Am I hungry or am I feeling something else?
2.Keep a food-mood journal – this helps you spot emotional patterns with eating
3.Nourish properly – protein, fibre, and healthy fats reduce cravings
4.Create new rituals – swap that 9pm snack for a herbal tea or a soak in the bath
5.Mindful eating – actually sit down, slow down and taste your food
It’s not about restriction—it’s about reconnection.”
Reprogramming Your Subconscious Around Food

Let’s flip that. Start saying:
