10 TIPS TO RECOVER FROM PEOPLE PLEASING
1.Get honest with yourself.
Start noticing the moments you say yes out of guilt or fear instead of alignment.
2.Pause before answering.
Give yourself space—“Let me get back to you” is your new best friend.
3.Start small with boundaries.
Practice saying no to things that drain you. You don’t need a big reason.
4.Ditch the need to explain.
“No” is a full sentence. You don’t owe people your peace to make them comfortable.
5.Use journaling to explore your triggers.
Ask: Why do I feel guilty saying no? What am I afraid will happen?
6.Challenge your inner critic.
You are not “bad” for setting limits. You are not selfish. You are healing.
7.Practice self-trust.
Tune into your body—what feels like a yes vs. a people-pleasing yes?
8.Work on receiving.
Let others help you. You don’t have to prove your worth by doing it all.
9.Celebrate when you hold a boundary.
That’s growth, babe! It’s okay if it feels awkward at first.
10.Affirm your new identity.
