Hello everyone. Thanks for tuning in again. I hope your energy is high and that you were taking some extra vitamin D this time of year. And you know what's funny? It actually doesn't matter what time of year it is really, although it's winter now, many people who live in Canada like myself or even in cloudy places where they don't get a lot of sun tend to have really low levels of vitamin D. And while this is a kind of quick tip to get either some sun or to use a vitamin D supplement, I will say that this episode has absolutely nothing to do with sunlight, but. It still involves the warmth of the gut feeling that you have when you make a decision or take actions that feel good for you in the moment. So naturally, that's what I want to do. I want to create this episode to talk to you about the people who take action, specifically self-employed people, when it comes to working like health goals, like weight loss, all while living the life of an entrepreneur, business person and fulfilling partner roles in their relationships. Now, it's incredible to me, but I've taken a look at the past 50 people that I've coached and almost all of them, 48 out of 50, took the leap of entrepreneurship to run their own businesses or made the choice to work for themselves so early in their lives. And I can tell you for me, working for myself was not an easy choice, but easily the best choice that I have ever made. As in, in my experience, I've been able to really get the... most amount of freedom, both from a time perspective, but also from a boundary perspective, where I get to choose where and when I spend my time, and of course, who I choose to spend that time and that emotional energy with. Now that being said, I can remember when I first started working for myself and making my own hours, and then being faced with really tough decisions of choosing how I wanted to build my business and how I wanted to spend time to take care of myself. Now I've spoken about my health journey on really early episodes of this podcast, If you don't know what's up or if you're a new listener tuning in, here's the short version. I got into health coaching because like many health coaches, typically I had issues with my health that I was able to work through, which then made me become super passionate about, of course, helping other people in the health industry. Now for me, it was my hormones, but one of the first things that I promised myself when I started my business and my coaching company at that time, it was just personal training for me. I said, I promised myself I would make time for me and I would not limit it. I would not limit my personal time to a client or to any amount of money. As with many business owners that I've, I've experienced because I had worked with a couple of actually worked for a couple of business owners at that time. I had three jobs that had terrible health issues running their business. Now, Not that they had health challenges intentionally, of course. I think really it starts slowly with things like cutting an hour here or there on sleep to send a quote out or maybe staying up late using coffee to crank through bookkeeping or accounting. And then you start caving to kind of client demands and booking calls through lunch or steal time from your own workouts. Like it's gradual, but really by the time they knew it and I could see it in them, they were like six coffees in deep, trying to cut carbs to drop the stress weight and such. So. The point in me sharing is really this, is building a business and working for yourself, share a lot of the quote unquote doing, which the actions that you have to take daily no matter what, and believe me, there's always actions or non-negotiables when it comes to things, but it compares to the health, and it compares to weight loss and balancing hormones. But the other thing that is shared, between business and between working on a health goal is the quote unquote feeling, which is made to help bring balance to what we're trying to create. So the creation that I'm referring to from a business sense is, well, a business, right? A business that is built properly, creates things like reoccurring money. It can create a powerful community or maybe a following, and it can even create freedom in the form of time or employees, so you can live your life doing the other hobbies that you want to. Now in terms of creation from a health perspective and where, you know, I'll share where the action comes into it later. When we are in a state where we feel good, when we feel high energy, when we feel full, full in terms of hunger and fullness, when we feel that our stomach is not bloated, this places us in a creating state where we can create steady opportunities for fat loss, where we can create muscle building, as well as a great and steady metabolism. So this creating state is what all goals in business and in health are initially created from. Like, remember when you first set out a goal, let's say like losing your first 10 pounds. You were probably so pumped about it. You envisioned things like fitting into your best pants and strutting your stuff with your friends while they complimented you on how amazing you looked. That goal... along with your feeling in that moment was completely aligned and it made you feel good. With both of those things right in line, you can probably recall all of the steps that you did to even lose those first 10 pounds. And truthfully, the steps seemed almost too easy as you made a few changes with your food, you did your best to get more water in, and you started to walk daily. But you know what? Each action step you took, even though it felt really easy, It worked, didn't it? It worked. Why do you think that is? I'll tell you why, okay? Rhetorical question. Side note, you can't answer on these podcasts, right? But the why is because your actions were essentially 100% behind what you wanted. You believed you could achieve it. And then you felt inspired to do those actions every single day to make that goal happen. And yet, the traditional and yet, Right? I'm sure you can pinpoint something right now with your health that you truly want, but you have built up so much resistance to it that you don't even want to attempt or try to start towards that goal. Now I'll give you a real story in how I relate to this and how actions are so important. So really on in my business, I started with in-home personal training and I drove to people's homes and placed them through a workout and training session. I brought all the equipment. everything, the whole shebang. And in doing these sessions, I threw a couple of clients, it was actually a lawyer, I got an amazing referral to a corporate company who wanted to set up a full blown training program at their physical location in Oakville, kind of a couple cities down from where I lived. Now at that time, being new to business, I had always dreamed of getting that corporate connection. But in the first six years of our six years, holy cow, six months of my business, I went from company to company and company. And they wouldn't even let me in the door when it came to corporate training. Like no joke, I believe I had anywhere from 10 or 15 companies tell me no when I first opened my business. Everything from me being too new to they weren't sure and I got nowhere. So naturally, like when I received this referral, I was super excited, but I built up a lot of fear in attempting this route yet again. I didn't want to go through the steps of reaching out. I didn't want to go through the steps of setting up a call with a CFO, then set up a call with an HR to review the benefits, and to waste all of that time only to be potentially turned down. So naturally, about 24 hours later after receiving that referral, I wasn't excited about it anymore. I didn't want to call them. I told myself excuses like, ah, they probably don't need coaching, or you know, I'm too small right now and I can't take the business. But the truth was is in that moment, I got stuck in the doing, in being too busy to be caught in the now. So can you guess when I made that call? Almost a whole month after I got that referral. And guess what? When I finally called, when I pushed through heavy, heavy layers of resistance, on that call, I stumbled over my words. I butchered my conversation with the HR rep. And she told me point blank after our conversation that it took so long, she thought my company wasn't interested in the potential work. Now there was such a valuable lesson for me here. That lesson that I needed to stop what I was doing at that moment and I needed to feel what I was doing. Because what I was doing in that moment was wrong. It wasn't in alignment with what my goal was, with what I wanted to accomplish. That feeling part, it can be called a lot of things. Some entrepreneurs, they call them the higher self. Other people call it kind of like a gut feeling. Some use the word intuition. Regardless of what your quote unquote feeling is called, no action or doing that you take towards a goal, like weight loss or hormone balance, none of that can be complete without your gut feeling good and aligned. with the next step that you have to take. Now here's where this relates to business. All business owners know this intuitively. Like somehow they understand how to make choices, how to choose priorities, or how to make decisions based on what is needed, combined with how it makes them feel. And yet it's those same people who abandon that very feeling the moment it comes to something personal, like their workouts, their meal times, and... the, you know, picking certain foods that they put into their bodies. So how can you do this? How do you do things like exercising regularly? How can you set times to meal prep and to eat your food through the week? Or how can you create quality time to spend recharging your batteries so you can get recovery? Well, here's it. Here's how you get some really solid action with really solid feels. It starts with the how. how you work towards your goal, and then it full circles with the why. Why are you working on that goal in the first place? You see, most people when working on their health jump right into the how. Straight up, they're like, tell me how, they say. They look up, how do I do a diet to lose 10 pounds? How do I burn the most calories daily? How do I fast to drop body fat fast? Now by doing the how in this way, all you're getting, most likely 90% of the time, is just a generic tool or info that you don't actually have any context with how to use. But where the real challenges lie is in the buildup and lack of why. Their challenges lie in the fear, the fear that I had in getting that corporate client. They say to themselves, what if I fail again? They say to themselves, why would I try once more when I've tried already and I failed already at this weight loss goal like five times? Now my friends, that is not a powerful feeling. Having a why come from uncertainty is not a powerful feeling to put behind an action that you are going to do. Let's be real, who would feel confident implementing a diet when in the back of their mind they secretly believe, maybe I'm gonna fail again? Or who would be excited to exercise, workout, and get super sore every day? Because guess what? Exercise has soreness, all while thinking in the back of their mind, it's probably not gonna work. No one. You see, results don't come from tools you use or the amount of steps you take towards hitting your health goals. They come from the belief and confidence you have behind what you're doing. So much so that you're gonna start to fall in love with the process. And you know what's crazy about what I just said? They actually did a study on this. How wild is this? They took 60 people, 30 people, and they put them into two groups, put them on the same diets. They told the first 30 people that the diet wouldn't work and that it was generic. They're like, Hey, we're just trying this, it's probably not going to work for you. And it's the same plan everyone's getting. But the other 30 people, they gave them the same diet, but they told them that this is a diet that was for them and that results were guaranteed. Now these people were looking for weight loss, but in those groups of guys, because it was a group of men who had the belief, who believed that it would work for them, they lost seven to 10 pounds in the 10 weeks that they did the diet. So why did this happen? This happened because there was an action that was followed up by a feeling of positivity. and the gut feeling that what they were doing would create results. Truthfully, this is actually the same phenomenon that successful business people 10x their business with. And it's actually how coaches like me get their clients' results. Now, not to say, of course, that I give people generic stuff because I don't, but what I do in coaching and essentially what you should do with all of your actions is essentially You should place within you the ability and the confidence that you can and will succeed, that nothing can stop you. Now, if you spend the time on understanding the why behind what you're doing, then you're gonna learn what tools or actions you're missing and what actions you're avoiding out of fear. It's at that moment in which you get to use your gut or feeling to help you take action on those tools and to be consistent with them all. while knowing that you're confident during every single step in your journey and in the process. That's huge. You see, it's the process and the confidence, not the tools that allow someone to be successful through the journey. It's not going to be the special diet that makes you lose the weight. It's not going to be a special supplement that makes you lose the weight. It's not going to be training three times a week that guarantees that you shed fat. None of that stuff is a guarantee. What's a guarantee is that you're taking action every single day and that you're feeling good about it because when you feel good, when you're confident behind it, there's a level that goes past placebo, which essentially when you buy into what you're doing, when you were all in, just like I'm all in, in this podcast episode right now. and you truly believe every word, everything that you're doing, it is guaranteed to work. It's guaranteed to work. Because 90% of the process is actualization, vision and belief, and the other 10% is really the tools, the diet and making adjustments along the way. Sure, those things are relevant. Of course, you need to be on the right diet. Of course, you need to have the right tools. But many times, We are hesitant about the tools that we're using. We're hesitant about the plan that we're given. Maybe we're hesitant about hiring a coach because just like me in that moment where I was hesitant to call that corporate client because I've been told no a dozen times, maybe subconsciously you've told yourself no because you've failed so many times. And that's so important. Failure cannot be the thing that stops you to start this process. Now, Here's why this relates so much to business. Business people have this thing in their brain where they literally can't stop at failure. Like they don't accept failure as an option. This is why they're always going with their gut. This is why sometimes they make decisions that other people might go, this doesn't make any sense. It makes sense to them because they see the bigger picture. They see how they feel. and how they feel is always in alignment with what is right. So the people who 10x their business are the people who are all in on alignment so much so that the excitement is what propels them and what gives them momentum to be able to do the things, to make the calls, to show up for the clients, to create content. And the same thing is with health. If you... become so driven and you know and you have full trust that what you were doing every single day is taking a positive step, then it will work. It will work. The diet will work. The changes to your nutrition will work. The fact that you're going to bed earlier will work. The fact that you're eating better foods will work. It's so important. And that is especially why coaching containers like my Hormone Reboot program are so great. because really it gives you the proper tools needed to get started on a journey like this, a journey for weight loss. But also it's really helping you build the confidence by understanding the why and what you're working on. Like why thyroid health is important for your weight and why exercising two to three times per week can help keep the weight and metabolism stable. You combine this with being able to hop on weekly group coaching calls, now you've got yourself that powerful combination of proper doing along with feeling great. And that's the whole purpose of this podcast episode today. It is really about proper doing. When you do, but you do with uncertainty, you are doing yourself a disservice. If you wanna feel great, you have to understand the why behind what you're doing. Why are you truly looking for the weight loss? Why are you doing weight loss this way? Why have you failed so many times? You have to ask yourself these questions in order to get deep enough to get excited and to have a personal buy-in with all of the tools. And that is so important. Now, if you guys haven't kind of learned about the Hormone Reboot program, I'm just gonna drop a little bit of info in on the show notes, as well as how you can join if it's a good fit for you, right? Because after all, I am always looking for amazing self-led people and entrepreneurs to join our amazing community. But... The biggest message for this is I truly believe that the path to sustainable weight loss, that the path to setting a health goal and actually achieving it, to setting a goal in business and achieving it, and even maintaining it, it's about less struggle to doing. And instead, the feeling you get while doing it, because feeling brings balance to what we are going to create. And that's what we want to put ourselves. We want to put ourselves in a creation mode to create the opportunity for our body to release the weight, to create the opportunity for our body's thyroid to rest for our metabolism to rest. It's all about what are we doing to give us opportunities to create. So my friends, as we sign off for today's episode, I leave you with this question. You can journal on this question or you can even ask yourself what goal What goal for your health, what goal for your wealth, what goal for your business, what goal do you want to create next? Ask yourself the why, then ask yourself the how. Thanks for tuning in, and we'll catch you on the next episode.
