I'm Megan Melo, board-certified Family and Obesity Medicine Physician and Physician Coach. In this podcast we talk about the many ways that burnout shows up in our lives, and what we can do about it. I'm on a mission to help Physicians take steps towards to heal burnout by unlearning the habits of perfectionism, people-pleasing and limiting beliefs so that we can lead healthier, happier lives.

Ending Physician Overwhelm
Are You Worth It?
Ooh, tender spots here. But this is such a common theme that pops up for my clients and my friends, and 100% yes in myself that we have to talk about it. Not valuing yourself hurts you. And if you are struggling with perfectionism, procrastinating, people-pleasing, and it's causing difficulty closing notes, getting through your inbox, running behind, always being late, despite "working on it" this may be part of the problem. If you don't feel that you are enough, that you are "worth it," whatever "it" is (other people's time, the copay from patients, the time it takes to feed and take good care of yourself, etc), then no amount of habit change attempts will work. We have to get at this root cause.
The good news is, that even if this is you, once you recognize it and accept that this is happening, we can work on it. We can learn to think new thoughts, and cultivate new beliefs.
This is definitely an episode to share with a friend, so don't keep it to yourself!
