Ending Physician Overwhelm
I'm Megan Melo, board-certified Family and Obesity Medicine Physician and Physician Coach. In this podcast we talk about the many ways that burnout shows up in our lives, and what we can do about it. I'm on a mission to help Physicians take steps towards to heal burnout by unlearning the habits of perfectionism, people-pleasing and limiting beliefs so that we can lead healthier, happier lives.
The healthcare system is broken; but you don't have to wait until it's fixed to feel better. I'm here to help.

Ending Physician Overwhelm
Abandoned by Medical Training with Special Guest Dr Brittany Busse
Imagine being a busy Surgical Resident and experiencing an ocular emergency, resulting in urgent surgery and leaving you with little vision for months.
And then imagine your program pushing you out, ostracizing you during your recovery.
What would YOU have done?
I'm joined today by Dr Brittany Busse, and she shares this portion of her story with us, as well as how she rebuilt herself on the other side. Although most of us may not have experienced such a dramatic turn, most of the physicians I speak with can relate to feeling abandoned as humans at some point during their career. Being denied a request to decrease hours, despite having pushed hard for years. Having to fight for time off, even though it's part of your contract. What I hope you'll take away from the conversation is how allowing our emotions to be present, and constantly reframing our thoughts allowed Dr Busse to found her business where she offers a safe space, a culture of learning and wellness and support that is so needed for physicians.
