Hi, I’m Darrin Wassom. I’m a field recordist based in Northern Michigan. I document natural environments through sound—capturing the moments and places most people don’t hear. I use portable gear to record wildlife and wild places, usually far from human activity. My goal is simple: to preserve and share the quiet, honest sounds of the natural world.

I started recording in 2012 as a way to slow down and be more present with my surroundings. It’s also a tool I use to manage tinnitus—a constant companion since 1989. Listening closely has become both a creative outlet and a kind of therapy.
