Who Is My Neighbor?

Welcome to episode #103 of the Building Great Lives podcast!
As followers of Jesus, we are called to overcome the barriers that divide us, recognizing that we were all created in the image of God.
Throughout the Bible, God’s message is clear: we are to love our neighbors as ourselves. Jesus’ ministry was one of inclusion and compassion. He broke social norms, reaching out to Samaritans, tax collectors, Gentiles and sinners. His parable of the Good Samaritan challenges us to redefine who our neighbor is and compels us to act with mercy and love, crossing all racial and ethnic boundaries.
Your neighbor is not just the people who live close to you, in the same neighborhood or building. Your neighbor is not just your family and friends. Your neighbor is not just the people who look and think like you.
Your neighbor is also the people you pass by every day. The individuals you see in the grocery store, the waiter at the restaurant, and the person from another culture. Your neighbor is the person who doesn’t look like you and the one whose experiences are vastly different from your own.
Your neighbor is anyone you encounter in your daily life. It’s the stranger on the street, the colleague at work, the people whose paths you cross, whether momentarily or regularly.
Recognizing everyone as your neighbor encourages us to look beyond differences and connect on a deeper, more human, biblical level.
