On Sunday, Aug 27, Pastor Jeff finished our series, The Time Has Come, which looked at the life and ministry of Jesus through the lens of Mark. As we looked at Mark 11:12-25, we found the way Jesus cursed the fig tree outside of Jerusalem created the opportunity for Jesus to talk about a Spirit-filled faith, that is fruitful in season and out of season.
In each of these stories told by Mark, we witness Jesus healing, liberating, performing miracles, and claiming authority over the physical, spiritual and natural world. In each encounter, Jesus was bringing the hope of heaven, the rule and reign of God's goodness and good news into the present - to make a difference today. Through each story we see how Jesus was proclaiming that the Kingdom of God had come, into the here and now, not only to make a difference in eternity but also today.
