River Corner Church

Right Here, Right Now (1 Corinthians 7:15-24)

Jeff McLain

On September 15, Pastor Jeff McLain spoke at River Corner Church on Right Here, Right Now from 1 Corinthians 7:15–24. In this message, Jeff reminded us that faithfulness to Christ doesn’t require a bigger stage, a different role, or a new situation. Instead, Paul’s command to the Corinthians — and to all the churches — is to live as believers right here, right now, in the circumstances God has already assigned to us.

Drawing from Paul’s own example of ordinary faithfulness — mentoring, tentmaking, writing letters, and walking alongside people in daily life — Jeff encouraged us to see our families, neighborhoods, workplaces, and friendships as our mission fields. He challenged us not to chase busyness, platforms, or status, but to recognize that God has already placed value on our lives through Christ, and He longs to bring value through us wherever we are.

The call of the gospel is not to “be your best self” or stay as you are, but to be surrendered, formed, and active for Jesus right here, right now.

About River Corner Church

River Corner Church is a simple community of Jesus followers, rooted in Scripture, prayer, and life together. We are not driven by flash or size, but by a desire to be faithful right here, right now in the place God has planted us. Since 1760, our church has quietly sought to love God and love our neighbors — gathering around the table, caring for one another, and welcoming others into the presence of Christ. Our hope is not to be impressive, but to be surrendered, formed, and active for Jesus in the ordinary rhythms of daily life.
