#45 TDP “ADHD & Mental Health” featuring Eugene Yao - Grace Lauren Taylor

This week we will be discussing the topic of how ADHD affects mental health with our guest, Eugene Yao!
Over the past four years, Eugene was the CEO of eVouch, a VC-backed marketing tool that has helped over 1,500 brands with their organic marketing. Despite the success, Eugene found that his passion did not align with the company's mission, leading him to step down in April 2023 to pursue a path that resonated more deeply with his personal values. In August 2023, Eugene's personal journey took a pivotal turn when he was diagnosed with ADHD. This diagnosis sparked a newfound passion for mental health, prompting him to launch an Instagram channel dedicated to educating people about ADHD and broader mental health issues. Starting from scratch in December, Eugene rapidly grew his following to 500,000 by April, impacting over 50 million unique accounts.

ADHD is an acronym for Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder
It was first recognized as a mental health condition in 1902 by Dr. Emil Kraeplin, who called it “minimal brain dysfunction.”
ADHD is a chronic condition that includes attention difficulty, hyperactivity, and impulsiveness.
ADHD affects about 5% of children and 2.5% of adults worldwide.
ADHD often begins in childhood and can persist into adulthood. It may contribute to low self-esteem, troubled relationships, and difficulty at school or work.
