Linda is a Consultant at the Bowlby Centre in London that specializes in training psychotherapists in attachment-based psychoanalytic therapy.

Attachment and the Defence Against Intimacy (about ‘Avoidant’ / Dismissing attachment)
From Cradle to Kitchen: Attachment, Relationships and Food

I have asked her to come onto the Finding Psychotherapy podcast today to talk to us about attachment theory, psychoanalytic psychotherapy and how the two join together to form this unique and specialized working model. In recent years I have noticed how attachment theory has gained a lot of popularity, it is a theory that seems to resonate with so many of us. My feeling is that attachment theory has become popular because it helps us all to get an understanding of how our past relationships influence those in our present and it makes sense. However, as it is often the case when theoretical models are made popular, they can be over simplified and misunderstood. My hope is that through this conversation, attachment theory can be explained in a way that is simple but not simplistic, giving it the credit due.
