Feb 15, 2024 Season 2 Episode 8
Andrew

Your hosts Andrew Jones & Neil Greggor, based in the South West of England, are this time joined by Farmer's Weekly Dairy Farmer of the Year 2017, Neville Loder.

Like usual we talk about Neville's background growing up on the family dairy farm, before travelling to various countries & continents around the world to experience farming there.

Then upon his return home he partnered up, with his now wife, Sue to begin their farming journey with their growing flock of sheep dotted around the local area until such time as they obtained their first tenancy on a local Dorset County Council farm.

The sheep went and they started with 21 cows! Then after juggling their finances to keep the cashflow the business required, they decided to make the plunge and go spring calving starting in 2011.

This proved to be a success with them being nominated & winning the Farmer's Weekly Dairy Farmer of the Year 2017. We then discuss how the business has progressed since then.

We also discuss Neville's roll as a Somerset & Avon Police Special Constable, and how comparing his life on the farm to life in the middle of Bristol  has given him a prospective that many don't have, and Neville gives some of his views to life!

This was recorded in January 2024 and all information was correct at the time of recording.
