Apr 15, 2024 Season 2 Episode 10
Andrew

Your hosts Andrew Jones & Neil Greggor, based in the South West of England, are this time joined by Sean O'Toole, Regional Sales Manager, North UK & Europe for Silostop Agri.

As always we start with an introduction to Sean and his background, from a farm in Lincolnshire he went to college. Then upon completion of his course started in the ruminants feed industry, before progressing over the last 30 years to where he is today with Silostop Agri.

We then start the story back in 1995, and a trip to Italy, by the then owners of Silostop where they met a plastics manufacturer that had begun to play with the idea of improving the plastics used for covering silage crops.

After some trials at Leeds & Kansas University the product has then grown to where it is today.

We then talk about the difference between an oxygen barrier silage sheets and a standard polyethylene sheets, the difference in its OTR (Oxygen Transfer Rate), and move on to discuss the benefits, advantages and financial saving/return using an oxygen barrier sheet brings.

We also talk about some of the basics to try and get your silage making process right.

This was recorded in January 2024 and all information was correct at the time of recording.
