Ingel Clay is a Liberian poet and writer who has worked in the development sector reaching the west African region.
In her conversation with Prof. Moyo, Ingel discusses the African Women Writers programme as well as the intersections of development and creative practice, which she embraces. Some of their talking points include;
- How her identity is a personal journey and the idea of being perfect in one's own way.
- Her upbringing in a post-conflict Liberia has shaped her perspective, contributing to her understanding of identity, culture, and the importance of community engagement.
- Reflections on the challenges and slow progress in Liberia's recovery while remaining hopeful for the future.
- The influence of historical protests led by women in Liberia inspires her writing in seeking to explore and present women's voices and experiences.
