Speaker 1:

Happy 4th of July, an independent day to everyone in the United States, and for those of you not, i think this post will still be relevant, as I share today, on the Kingdom Mothers Rise Up podcast, some thoughts about the declaration of independence. Several years ago, i realized that it had always been my impression that we were celebrating the birth of the United States when we celebrated Independence Day. And we're not. I mean, in a sense we are, but it's actually celebrating the day that they declared independence. It's not the day they gained independence, it's just the day they declared it. Really, the birth of the United States would be when the Revolutionary War ended, when England finally said yes, fine, you can be your own country, you're not a colony of England anymore. The declaration actually started the war, it didn't end it, but we celebrate the declaration because without making that declaration, that firm resolve, we would never have had independence. They resolved, they knew we're sure this is what God is calling us to do when you can read their letters and there's all kinds of scripture and biblical discussion around this So they felt confident.

Speaker 1:

This is what God is saying to us in the stand we need to take. We're sure that he is with us in this. We are committing our lives, our fortunes, our honor. We're giving everything to this. We are declaring that this is what we believe and we're giving everything That's. What we're celebrating on July 4th Independence Day is the declaration of independence, not the actual achieving of it.

Speaker 1:

So the spiritual truth in this is that we can take scripture just like they did, and make a declaration. It can be about how God sees us or any promise in scripture. We can say this is what God has for me and I'm giving it my all, my life, my fortune, my attention, all for that. And we don't get to take scripture out of context and make it mean what we want to mean. When we do that, we take scripture as the Holy Spirit reveals it to us and agree with what he's saying. So maybe declaring I am the righteousness of Christ, i'm free from my sin, or the Lord is my shepherd, i don't lack anything. I need Whatever declarations you need, as long as they're based in scripture. you can start celebrating as soon as you've declared them. If you're declaring it with a firm resolve, if we're declaring an agreement with God's word, we don't have to wait until we arrive, until we see that fulfilled to celebrate, and we shouldn't, because we're never going to arrive, we're never going to be perfected the side of eternity and our circumstances won't be either. We can have the declaration, be so firm in the vision of what we're declaring, so clear that we can put aside the distractions. We can invest the time, the money, the changes in relationships, whatever it is that we need to do to do our part to make the declaration come to pass.

Speaker 1:

The United States didn't gain its freedom from England because they made a declaration. They gained freedom from England because they were willing to fight for it and they paid a high price for it. In our case, jesus paid the high price, but we have to pay what can seem like a high price too. He told us to take up our cross, so we need to count the cost. We don't need to pay for things he's already paid for, but we do have to pay the price of setting aside our will, setting aside our agenda, of maybe getting revenge, or we need to let go of bitterness, unforgiveness, and those things are hard, they're costly, and we will go through things that we don't understand.

Speaker 1:

And we still need to have faith. We still need to believe that declaration in God's goodness, even when we don't see it and things don't make sense. There is a battle to fight, but we get to fight it with his power and his authority, and he has given us everything we need for every good work that he has planned for us as our job to learn to use them and put them into practice. On this 4th of July, think about what you're declaring, intentionally or unintentionally intentionally or unintentionally, and if that lines up with God's word, or maybe what he's challenging you to declare, how he's calling you to stand until you see that declaration come to pass. We fight from peace. We fight from victory. So what does that look like for you right now? Leave me a comment and let me know.
