Mukkove - The Mom Mentor

Is there room for creativity in your time with God?
What about your emotions? Are they welcome?
Hi, if we haven't met, I'm Mukkove Johnson and I am here to encourage and equip you to understand and use the gift of your emotions. One of the ways that I do that is through the process I've developed called heart doodling with Jesus.

One of my favorite things about heart doodling with Jesus is that it helps to build awareness, and awareness is so important to mental, emotional, and spiritual health.

Mukkove:

Is there room for creativity in your time with God? What about your emotions? Are they welcome? Hi, if we haven't met, I'm Mukkove Johnson and I am here to encourage and equip you to understand and use the gift of your emotions. One of the ways that I do that is through the process I've developed called heart doodling with Jesus. One of my favorite things about heart doodling with Jesus is that it helps to build awareness, and awareness is so important to mental, emotional, spiritual health. And how heart doodling with Jesus brings that increased awareness is because so many people struggle with needing to do things right even when there isn't a right, and not feeling like they can do things right or good enough keeps them stuck.

Mukkove:

So when I have you do heart doodling with Jesus, I have you use a permanent marker and well, if you even get to that point, so many people are immediately like be creative, I can't. I'm not creative, and you can, because creating is just doing it. It's not being a professional artist, it's not creating something worthy of praise or money or anything, it's just creating. Like when a child makes a mud pie, they're creating, and you can do that as an adult. You can create. So if I get you on that point, then the next is why won't you use a permanent marker? Oh no, I can't, because that won't be right. So and then I ask you to use watercolor paints, which are very uncooperative, because I want you to build that awareness of how you talk to yourself, of how you judge your own behaviors, your own performance, your own worthiness as you attempt to create, stretch yourself and use a permanent marker and not start over and not be able to erase it and fix it and make it better. You get to experience accepting yourself and accepting the reality that God can use you. God can make things beautiful, powerful, impactful, without them being perfect, and it's a really safe and powerful way to begin to break down that message and to begin to build that awareness of how do you talk to yourself, how generous or harsh are you in your judgment of yourself, whether that's if you are creating, or of how you use your time, or of your worthiness in any situation.

Mukkove:

This simple act of putting something down on paper in a permanent marker that you can't change and then trying to color it with watercolor paint that you can't always control Sometimes you can and that looks like you want it to, other times not so much, but the Lord still works through it and you have these small safe ways because your heart dueling isn't meant for anybody but you, anybody but you and the Lord. And you see that he's not bothered by it and you can learn to not be bothered by it because he's going to show up and meet with you in that space that you've set aside to meet with him, even if your drawing is not perfect, even if the paint runs where you didn't want it to. And as you spend the time to sit with him, being creative and listening for his heart, listening for his truth, it also increases your awareness as you go about day to day, because if you're sitting and drawing and you mess it up and you notice that there's a very harsh inner voice of like you failed, you screwed that up, I can't believe you're even trying this. That voice isn't kind. It's not how you would talk to your friend, it's not how you would talk to a child that you love, so don't talk to yourself that way. And as you spend the time sitting with the creativity and you realize like I don't want to talk to myself about this, like I'm making mud pies so they can turn out. However, there's no standard for mud pies. That awareness carries over into other parts of your life where you'll start to recognize that same harsh voice and be able to say I don't have to listen to it here either, and so it's one of the powerful, beautiful things about bringing creativity into your times with the Lord.

Mukkove:

I specifically do it in the process that I've created called Heart Doodling with Jesus. If you would like to know more about that, comment below and let me know. I have an online membership where we do a live workshop once a month, and I'm also starting to do in-person workshops, which I am super excited about how God is going to show up when a group of people gather in the same physical space to allow Him to speak and allow Him to highlight to them where they've not been being kind to themselves or whatever else he wants to highlight. But I'm very excited about starting to do that and just encourage you, whether you try Heart Doodling with Jesus or something else, that taking the time to be creative with the Lord will help you get to know yourself better, it will help you get to know Him better and it will have a big impact. I'll put a link for my first live event below. If you're in Wasala, alaska, it'll be February 9th, so coming up pretty soon, and if you have any questions, let me know.
