Confidence in Christ
Overcomer: Find Freedom From Addiction, Shame & False Identity with Caitlin Hawk
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
We have a couple options when it comes to sharing our story. We can keep it inside or we can tell others about how God has saved us. Our testimonies change other people's lives whether we believe it or not. It says in scripture that "they will know us by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony." (Rev 12:11). We need to be brave enough to share what God has done in our lives because on the other side of our obedience could be someone's freedom. That's something to chew on huh?
This week's guest has taken that verse and ran with it! Caitlin is so bold about he faith and how Jesus saved her life that if gives me chills every time I hear her share! She went through some very dark times... BUT GOD!! Now she tells anyone who will listen about how Jesus can save them!
Caitlin Hawk is an author, speaker, fitness and soccer coach and REALTOR® based in Knoxville, Tennessee. Conversation Highlights:
- When we are vulnerable with our testimony it allows others the freedom to be vulnerable as well
- It’s okay to let people know how dark your past was so they can see how powerful Jesus is
- The only way to overcome addiction, identity issues, etc is to know who you are as a new creation in Christ
- Calling yourself an overcomer is establishing who you are in Christ and walking in it
- If you understand who you are in Christ and what Jesus says over you, you will realize that you may be struggling with a stronghold right now but that is not your identity
- Renew your mind to what scripture says about you every single day - consistency is key!
- We have to be humble enough to say we are struggling - until there is vulnerability and an open heart that says “I’m not okay”, healing won’t come because Jesus won’t force healing on you
- Find a person who is set apart to shepherd others into a deeper relationship with Christ for support
- Discovering your Spiritual Gifting is an important part of stepping into who God has made you to be - find a church that encourages that and believes in the giftings of the Spirit
- Remember what God has brought you through, he will not abandon you, helps grow your confidence in Christ
