If you follow the news at all you know that China has been very aggressive over the past decade or so in trying to spread its influence internationally. Much of that is economic - think of the so-called Belt and Road Initiative - but some of it is tied to security. Some nations see China as a model to emulate and the PRC is all too happy to export its way of doing security (mass surveillance for instance). Why are they doing this and why should we care? I speak with a US professor on this issue.
