243:Why Moms Make Great Freelance Ad Managers
===
Brandi: [00:00:00] Today's episode is all about how moms make the best ad managers. And I'm going to dive into the qualities that moms bring to the table when it comes to starting a freelance ad management business and why I think y'all are absolutely perfect for ad management. So if you're a mom and you've been questioning like, is ad management right for me?
This is the episode for you. And even if you're not a mom. And you can identify with some of these qualities. You may be the perfect person for ad management. So let's jump on into this episode of the Serve Scale SOAR podcast.
Welcome, welcome back my friends to another episode of the Serve Scale SOAR podcast. My name is Brandi Mowles and I am your host. And whether this is your first time tuning in or you've been [00:01:00] tuning in for a while, I am just so freaking glad. That you're here and you're ready to do the dang thing. And maybe you're a mom trying to figure out like, is ad management right for me?
Lately I've been having so many people message me and say, do you think I would make a great ad manager? And it really got me thinking like, what makes a great ad manager? What are some qualities? that you need as an ad manager. Now, we have a whole other episode on the roles that ad managers hold, and that's a great episode to go to after this.
But this really comes down to the qualities that you bring as just being a great ad manager. And it has nothing to do if you have a marketing background. It has nothing to do if this is what you went to school with. Or if you have an experience. Chances are, especially if you're a Mom and you're listening, you are qualified to be an ad manager.
And so before we jump in today's episodes, I want to give a shout out [00:02:00] to Mary Catherine Horne, who is one of our students inside of conversions for clients, but also she's a listener to this podcast. And she gave us. five stars and said highly recommend. Brandy knows her stuff and is so encouraging. I'm obsessed with all the knowledge and suggestions she brings.
Most certainly recommend. So thankful for Brandy. Thank you, thank you, thank you for reviews. They, I read each and every single one of them and they make the show go. So if you get any value out of our podcast each and every single week, Or if you found value in this episode, if you just go to Apple or Spotify, leave us a quick review or a rating that is so greatly appreciated.
I look at every single one of these and I just adore each and every single one of you. And that's the best gift you can give a podcaster. So let's chat more about. What are the 10 qualities that moms bring to the table when it comes to ad management? And if you can check [00:03:00] off two or more of these, you may be the perfect fit for freelance ad management.
Okay, so the first one is you are a multi tasking master. Mamas, you know how it is. You juggle homework, snack time. Soccer practice, running a house, you are always juggling multiple priorities and you do the dang thing. Everyone gets to where they're supposed to be. You have your kids fed, they're in bed, they brush their teeth, you are great at multitasking.
And that doesn't mean that we always get it 100 percent right because I am the queen. of text messages that someone texts me, I open it up and then one of the kids needs me and I totally don't text people back because I'm like, Oh crap, I forgot about that. And then a week later, I'm like, Oh, sorry, I didn't get back to you.
So we but for the most part, we're multitasking ninjas like we do the dang thing. So how does this tie into ad management? [00:04:00] Well, with ad managers, you're doing Multiple roles. You may not be having to multitask all the time. I'm not a big fan of multitasking, but multiple roles. You're juggling a lot of balls.
So, as ad managers, you're going to manage campaigns. You need to be able to manage deadlines, client communication, and moms are just a pro at those things. Like, we just, you have to be good at that, and if you're not good at that, you learn how to be good at that because that's how the household runs.
That's how you make sure everyone gets to where they need and everything gets Done. Also, you're like making dinner, getting homework done. I mean, moms are just like, the amount of things that you can juggle as a mom is mind blowing. Especially when we look at our counterparts, and even my husband who's super involved.
I can run circles around him when it comes to this, because as women I just swear that we are wired to be able to handle a ton of different balls in the air at the same [00:05:00] time. And so, as ad managers, we're doing that exact same thing. And like I said, we'll link up an episode that tell you about the six roles that ad managers have because that's part of being the multitasking master.
Okay, so the second quality that moms have that ad managers need to have is problem solving. And whether as a mom, you're finding missing toys, common tantrums, you are trying to figure out how to come up with enough money. For whatever activity that your kid has now wanted to get involved in, you are a problem solving pro.
And one of the things with ad management is you have to be a problem solving pro. Because you're going to be troubleshooting campaigns, you're going to be solving client challenges, and you are just going to have things that come up. And when we already operate from a mindset of we are problem solvers, not problem identifiers, That makes the [00:06:00] perfect ad manager, and as moms, we don't have the luxury of saying like, Oh, you know, like, that toy's missing.
I'm sorry. We can't fix that. I know that was your lovey and you love it. No! We go on a mission to find it. We either find the toy, Or we go in Amazon overnight delivery, the exact same one and be like, Oh, I found it under the couch. Because as moms, we have to come up with ways to solve problems. I always say that I'm a problem solver.
My husband's a problem identifier. He identifies problems, but I'm the one solving them. And as moms, that's our default. We have to know how to figure out things. And you are a master at that. And in ads, we want to come from the notion of, okay, we need to troubleshoot. What can I do? It's not like, Oh, well, it's like, no, what's my next step?
What can I do to help this client out? Because that's what we do. We want to fix problems. Okay. Our third quality that moms bring to the table is [00:07:00] excellent communication. Moms spend their day. Teaching, encouraging, negotiating, getting people to do what you need them to do and communicating that effectively.
And as ad managers, we have to do the same thing. Our clients are gonna come to us. They're gonna want advice. They're gonna want to know the next steps. They're gonna, they need our empathy when things aren't going wrong. They need people to connect with them. And as moms, We are excellent communicators, which helps us manage clients.
But not only that, since we come from a place of empathy and always caring so deeply, it makes us really good at finding target audience and speaking to those needs inside of ad copy. We have that feminine touch that really[00:08:00]
So, the ability to be excellent communicators, have that empathy, not only makes it great for our client experience, but it also brings into when you're writing ad copy. Okay, four. Detail oriented. You know every little thing about your child. You know their favorite snacks, you know their allergies, you know their favorite Paw Patrol characters.
Like, you are so detail oriented. And so, even if you're like, I'm not a detail oriented person, that's me. I say that all the time. But the truth is, we are. When it matters, we are very detailed. Because we pick up on the things that matter. And if there's something that matters to your client, you're gonna remember it.
And the same attention and detail is needed for optimizing data, for making sure we're meeting deadlines. for making sure if a client tells us something that we, like, remember [00:09:00] it. And that doesn't mean you're always going to get these right. I will say that detail oriented is one of my least strengths, but that doesn't mean that I can't be successful.
But as a whole, I find that moms are pretty detail oriented. More so than men. And you care deeply, which makes you more detailed. Okay, so we've went through four. Multitasking, problem solvers, excellent communicators, detail oriented thinkers, and you're adaptable and resilient. When plans change at the last minute, hello six days, you adjust and keep doing the dang thing.
You keep going because that's what you have to do. Getting kids out the door is like the hardest thing in the world. But we adapt, we're resilient, plans change, we can pivot and as ad managers, the ad platform strategies are always evolving. And the fact that as moms we are used to adapting, we're not [00:10:00] so rigid, it gives us a leg up on navigating those changes.
So a, a, say, a, a, a, say, a, a, a. So I don't really think that we, we see this as a a very negative thing because this is not a good thing. There are, there are a lot of interesting things going on in the world. And I'm going to talk a little bit more about that in just a second, but I'm going to talk a little bit more about that in just a second, but I'm going to talk a little
Get like wishy washy and stuff like that, but it can also be our superpower because our clients know that they're going to be taken care of because we're automatically always focused on others first. So it can be a weakness and a [00:11:00] strength, but in this case, we're going to count it as a strength. 7.
Budget and resource management. As a mom, you know how to stretch a dollar. You know how to find deals. You know how to make the most of what you have. Because, and this may be a little general, some of you may not do budgeting at all, and that's why I'm saying, like, not all of these you're gonna, like, be able to tick the box.
But the more boxes you tick, probably the better you are at ad management. But budgeting resources. We know how to look at the ads when the weekly ads come out, and we're looking for the deal. We plan our groceries around what, that, what's on sale. We know how to make the most of what we have. When it comes to ad management, ad budgets work the same way.
You want to maximize every dollar to get the best results for our clients. And we're already in that mindset of here's the resources I have. How am I going to make it work? It's the same thing. No matter if it's your household, your grocery budget, or your ad budget. If you [00:12:00] can do that, you can do ad budgets.
Okay. Eight. Strong time management. And some of you are probably like, Brittany, I'm not good at time management. And that is not true. These are things that we tell ourselves, but you manage a household. You master the art of making every minute count, whether it's during naptime, between school drop offs, you're managing soccer practice over here, you're managing getting dinner on the table over here, running a business over here.
It may not feel like you always have it together, but I guarantee you have it more together than 90 percent of people. Because you are strong in time management when you want to be. So, how does that tie into ad management? Managing your time efficiently is key to running campaigns, balancing multiple clients, running a business.
If you can run a household, you can run a business. I say this all the time. If you can run a household, you can run a business. And the business is probably easier to run than the household. But the difference is, you If you have been [00:13:00] running a household for so long, it's second nature to you. And now, we're just going to take these skills and apply it to business.
So if you can run a household, you can run a business. Nine is goal oriented. Moms set goals for themselves and their kids. From milestones to family savings to getting your kids into college, whatever it is, you are constantly setting goals for your kids. Even if it's like how, like how quickly they're going to talk or walk or whatever it is.
As moms, we are always in the mindset of goal setting for our kids. And ad management, it's the same thing. We want to set measurable goals for campaigns. You already know how to stay focused. And now. It, all it does is take learning a skill to get the results to hit those goals. That's what's so great about ad management is our clients can give us goals and all we have to do is follow the steps to reach those.
And we can see them because we see the ROI. There's a dollar amount attached to an [00:14:00] ad. So it's not like if you're doing organic social and you're doing all this work and you don't actually know if you're getting results for your client. With ads, you know, you either are or you're not. It's very black and white.
And then number 10. Desire for freedom and flexibilities. Moms want careers that allow them to show up for their kids while contributing financially to their household. And ads, it's the same thing. Our ad management offers a perfect blend of flexibility and earning potential. So if you have that desire, that dream to have freedom and flexibility, All you need is the proven steps to get there.
And that's what ad management gives you. So, when we look back through all ten of these, if you can tick off two or more, you may be a perfect fit for ad management. And that's, you're good at multitasking. You're a problem solver instead of problem pointer outer. You're an excellent communicator. You're detailed oriented.
[00:15:00] You're adaptable and resilient. You're empathetic and client focused. Budgeting and resource management. Strong time management, goal oriented, and you desire freedom and flexibility. If you can tick off two or more of those boxes, what are you waiting for? Because if you can run a household, you can run a business, and you sure as heck can run an ad campaign.
And some of the moms that we've showcased, we'll make sure to link them up, is Taylor. She was a mom of three. She is a mom of three. She was a background in corporate and she transitioned and she joined us in conversions for clients and in 60 days she was at 4, 500 a month. From zero business to 4, 500 a month in 60 days.
Jamie, who was, who's living in Mexico. She's an ex pat. She was teaching English as a second language and she wanted to help contribute to her family's business. She landed two [00:16:00] clients in the first 60 days of joining us. Her first one in the first 30 days. And then Rachel, she was a VA who was a new mom and leaned in and now she has a super successful boutique agency.
And so this isn't just for some. If you're a mom, you can run a business. If you can run a household, you can run a business. If you can keep your children alive, you can run a business. You're already doing the hard work. And what I see so much is that moms don't give themselves enough credit. You keep people alive.
You grew. People, you birthed people, no matter how you got your children, you have children. You run a household. No matter if you're a working mom, a single mom, a stay at home mom, you do the hard every single day. If you can run a household, you can run a family, you can run a business. [00:17:00] The only difference is the business is new to you, so it feels scary, but you're already doing the hard.
Business isn't hard. Running your household is hard. Running a family is hard. Having all the constant mental overload of making sure everything gets done is hard. Running a business is new. It doesn't have to be hard. It can be simple. But in order for it to be simple, to be worth it, to give you the freedom and flexibility, you have to have a few things in place.
One, you have to make sure you're offering a premium service. Do not go in and start off as a VA. VA, you're going to end up burned out and doing all the dang things, and you'll probably be replaced by AI this year. Offer a premium service. Of course, I think ad management is the best service. Especially for moms.
You can work behind the scenes, on your own time. It doesn't mean for clients you need to be [00:18:00] on it a certain amount of time. You can do it at night time. You can do it nap time hustle. You can do it in car pick up line. It doesn't really matter. You get to do it on your own time. And you get to charge a premium rate.
We have brand new students. Never ran an ad campaign in conversions for clients charging 1, 500, 1, 800, 2, 000, 2, 500 for brand new Ad clients, when they've never even ran an ad themselves, if they can do it, you can too. And we have a whole podcast with people sharing their stories. No matter if they were single moms, corporate moms, background in marketing, no background in any business, already had a VA, pivoted, we have a story.
You're not alone in this. And if you can run a household, you can run a business. And now is the perfect time to get started. So, I would love for you to come to our free training. You can go to Brandy brandymiles. [00:19:00] com slash ad training. I was trying to think. Or confidentadmanager. com. Sign up, join us for our training.
Learn the step by step on how to start your business. Also how to land your first client. 'cause at the end of the day, without a client, you don't have a business. So we always start with landing your client first and don't wait anymore. Stop putting your dreams on hold. Today is the best day to get started.
'cause tomorrow will just be a tomorrow, another tomorrow to another tomorrow. And then you're gonna look back six from six months from now, or worse, six years from now and be like, gosh, I wish I would've started sooner. So, if you're a mom and you're running a household, you can run a business. And I'm here cheering you on, my friend.
We need more people like you in the ad management space because you care deeply and you're doing it for a bigger purpose than yourself. So, this week, go [00:20:00] out, serve your clients, scale your business, and soar into the success you deserve.
