Host Mike Grubb has always been passionate about music. He is a multi instrumentalist, recording artist, audio engineer, and author. From his upbringing in Virginia and the Washington DC area, Mike has been involved playing classical, jazz, rock, punk, and bluegrass music. He is the creator and host of the Musicscope, a podcast which explores the origins of various aspects of American music.
Chris Richards is a journalist, songwriter, singer, and multi instrumentalist. Chris was a founding member of the Washington, DC band Q and Not U, who found success in the late 90’s and early 2000’s with their unique brand of post punk, combining the influence of bands like Fugazi with dance, world, and folk influences. Chris released ‘Purple Blaze’ under the pseudonym Ris Paul Ric, and also released an EP as a member of the band TK Echo. Chris has served as a freelance journalist and was the pop music critic for the Washington Post for over a decade. Chris currently publishes his own newsletter “The Future Is Ours To Make” on Substack.
