There are two ways that you can look at this fact that Thanksgiving is five weeks away. You've got your positive and your negative and you have to choose in this moment which way you're gonna lean. These five weeks are gonna go by either way. Now I get that it's hard to think about what's possible in five weeks, but all you can see is the pain and fatigue right in front of you. But you have to be very careful about the story.
Speaker 1:I'm Dawn Laughlin, certified health coach and fellow RA warrior. It wasn't all that long ago that I was in this place where I was fearful of the uncertainty of my future, wondering when my next flare would come or wondering when the pain would let up. Fast forward through many trials, errors and lessons learned and you'll find a gal who is stronger, healthier and more confident in her future than ever before. Yes, I still have RA, but RA doesn't have me. I believe our lifestyle, food choices and mindset greatly impact the way our bodies handle rheumatoid arthritis. I created the Thrive with RA podcast to explore the science-based ways to realign your health. Through these three pillars and so much more, we'll be navigating both the messy and the blessings that come from living the life with RA Each week. You'll get a good dose of education, inspiration, encouragement and hope as you take small steps to improve your health and overall life.
Speaker 1:If you've been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis or are still trying to figure out if the symptoms you're feeling are indeed rheumatoid arthritis, you are in the right place. My friend, let's get started. If you are a woman who would like to have more energy, less pain and clearer thinking this holiday season, then this episode is for you, and I've got some great news. It may not take as long as you think, and the way to get there might surprise you. There's so much I want to cover, so let's dive in.
Speaker 1:As a health coach, I work with women that have rheumatoid arthritis who are looking to improve their symptoms through diet and lifestyle. They are ready to do the work so that they can feel better in their day-to-day lives. They are ready to transform their health so that they can transform their lives. And you know what is so interesting? Almost every person I speak with regarding their health wants to feel better. They know they need to eat healthier, they know they need to move their bodies more and they know that they need to prioritize sleep, and yet they struggle in the steps of getting there. Now you might be struggling with as well feeling so much frustration, knowing you want this so badly and not being able to take the steps that are necessary to make that a reality. But here's what I want you to understand that the struggle isn't so much in the strategies as it is in getting past the mindset hurdles that are keeping you stuck in the standard American way of eating and in the standard American way of living.
Speaker 1:You have to get your mind right in order to start implementing the changes that you so desperately desire to become the woman who chooses that anti-inflammatory food over the foods that inflame. To become that woman who chooses movement over staying stationary. And to become that woman who chooses less stress over living in chaos. You have to be learned to think differently in order to become that woman who enjoys that all day energy, less pain and clear thinking. You have to choose to look at this time in your life living with rheumatoid arthritis, regardless of where you are in your journey, as an opportunity to change, to transform your health so you can transform your life. You have to be open to this idea that you can do different things, that you can improve the way you feel in your day-to-day life, and you literally need to rewire the that. You can improve the way you feel in your day-to-day life and you literally need to rewire the way you think, the way you've been taught to think all of these years, the way you've been accustomed to thinking all these years. Here's an example of what I'm talking about. Now, if you're like me, I love visuals, and so if you're watching or if you're listening via podcast, go ahead and hop over to my YouTube channel. You'll find the link in the show notes below, where I will illustrate this for you on a whiteboard, but also you'll hear it clearly here through the podcast, whichever works best for you.
Speaker 1:But let's look at the law of polarity. Let me get to my drawing board here. It states that there are two sides to everything. So you have one fact and two sides. Now those sides one is a positive and one is a negative. Okay, so you've got these two sides.
Speaker 1:Let's take, for instance, the holidays Thanksgiving, which is just five weeks away. So that is our fact five weeks. There are two ways, according to the law of polarity, that you can look at this. You can look at a positive and you can look at the negative. Now, if we're looking at the negative, you might be leaning more into where you are currently, the feelings you're having, the pain, the fatigue, the sitting there, wondering am I going to be able to manage all of the cooking, the cleaning, the prepping, the planning, getting ready for this family to come and visit? You might just be feeling all of that and wondering what's going to be possible with all of the pain and fatigue that you're feeling. Okay, so that is a negative way to look at it and, according to law of polarity, we also have a positive way that we can view this. Okay, and that positive way can look at that. You're seeing these five weeks as an opportunity for change. You are looking at this with an open mind and you are excited about the idea of better sleep and improved diet, diet less stress and feeling better overall, so that you arrive at the holidays with anticipation, with excitement for that precious time that you're going to spend with your family and friends, because you have the energy and less pain to do so, all due to the changes that you have made during those five weeks. Now there are two ways that you can look at this fact that Thanksgiving is five weeks away. You've got your positive and your negative and you have to choose in this moment which way you're gonna lean. These five weeks are gonna go by either way.
Speaker 1:Now I get that it's hard to think about what's possible in five weeks when all you can see is the pain and fatigue right in front of you. But you have to be very careful about the stories that you tell yourself. If you tell yourself that you have RA and there is nothing that you can do to change your circumstances, you will stay stuck in this vicious cycle of pain, of fatigue, of overwhelm and of hopelessness. It will keep you leaning more into all of that plus and you look to that holiday with dread. Instead, versus when you tell yourself that you have five weeks to start making changes, you start to see what's possible, it starts to give you a little bit of hope and you start to have more excitement for the holidays and what's to come. When you have this mindset, it builds anticipation for the things that are to come, because you have more energy, you have less pain, you have the ability to clearly think and enjoy that precious time with your family around you. Here's what I know within my journey Within three weeks of making diet and lifestyle changes.
Speaker 1:I no longer needed my daily non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. I no longer needed my four-a-day leave habit. I had more energy, less pain and clearer thinking and that forward momentum that I needed to continue to improve my health. And this isn't something that I've seen only in my journey, but with my clients as well, through my one-to-one coaching, through my five-day smoothie challenge, where clients were experiencing more energy, better sleep within three days, and in my five-day whole food challenges, where, within three to four days, my clients were experiencing more energy and less pain.
Speaker 1:Imagine what's possible for you when you nourish your body with whole, real food, anti-inflammatory food. When you really dial in and listen to what your body needs, it changes the game. And, friend, you were created for more. You were created for a purpose. But here's the deal Nothing changes if everything stays the same. When you start investing in you, you discover the person that you truly are meant to be.
Speaker 1:If you are ready to break this cycle of fatigue and pain and ready to take massive action to start transforming your health, click the link in the show notes below where you can schedule a discovery call. To save time and make sure that we are a good fit. We'll go through and talk about where you are and where you would like to be in your journey and show you the fastest way that you can get there. These next five weeks are going to go by regardless of which side you lean toward, but imagine looking back with so much gratitude for the work that you have done, as you sit around the table with your family and your friends, enjoying every single moment. I'm hoping that this encourages you to use these next five weeks as an opportunity for change.
