If I'm not my ego, then who am I
Our ego manifests itself in some interesting ways. Ways like always looking for justification, always pointing fingers outward. It's always somebody else’s fault or to be blamed. And if I can't point finger to anyone, I'm looking for justification in myself.
We have forgotten that the ego is not who we are. The ego is something that I have created myself, but it's not who I am. Join us in this short meditation to experience that who I am is a being of love, kindness, compassion, truth, purity, serenity and joy.
A very good afternoon to each and every one of you. Greetings of peace, greetings of love.
Our world is going through so many delicate situations, many of us. Our hearts are filled with feelings of sorrow, probably pain, anger, maybe frustration, as to all the different things that are happening in the world where people are being inflicted with violence against their conscious wish. And here we are in all parts of the world, trying our best to stay at peace internally, to stay at peace externally, and live with the hope that peace will prevail on earth. But until then, when we pause to observe our own self, we realize that many of these things that are happening on the outside are beyond our control. What about the things that are within my control?
The things that are beyond my control? There isn't much I can do except pray, have pure thoughts and try to hold the peace. But the everyday things that happen in our lives, the things that we are in control of, what about those? Are we doing what we need to do or are we hoping that somebody else will fix it for us? See, how does our ego manifest?
Our ego manifests itself in some interesting ways. You know, ways like always looking for justification, always pointing fingers outward. That's what the ego does. It's always somebody else’s fault or to be blamed. And if I can't point finger to anyone, I'm looking for justification in myself.
Insulted. Too much pride, power. You know, when power gets up into our head, as we say, it twists everything around. We don't think straight anymore. And maybe that's what's happening in the world out there, too much power.
People have forgotten that the ego is not who we are. The ego is something that I have created to protect myself, but it's not who I am. Who I am is a being of love, kindness, compassion, truth, purity, serenity, joy.
You know, we can say it like the real me is my soft self. And what happens is that our world is so aggressive and very ego driven to protect ourselves from outlook, to protect our own softness, our own inner beauty. We've created the ego as a defense mechanism. And unfortunately, over time, we’ve begun to identify ourselves with that ego. And when we act based upon the ego, then we have what we have today, a world, a very troubled world, a very sick world today.
Let us realize that if I created that ego, I can finish it. Have you realized that if you created that ego, you can finish it, right? It's your creation. Somebody else will not come along and finish it. I have to finish it myself.
And instead let me build my soft side and make it so powerful that I don't need the ego anymore. And to build that soft side of me is where meditation comes in. Very useful. And when I say meditation, times like this, where we take time out, reflect on my, our own inner beauty, and give strength to that, build on that, make it strong, make it powerful, so that when I'm out there in the world, having to deal with situations, deal with people, interact, and so on, my soft nature is not just soft, but it's also there is inner strength. So I don't have to depend on my ego to protect me.
I know deep in my heart that I can do it myself by staying powerful, by staying stable in my own truth. And little by little, we give rest right to that ego. So if I'm not my ego, then who am I? I'm the most beautiful being of light within. So let us take some time now, another ten minutes or so, and we go into ourselves and to feel our own beauty and give that the strength, because I know that that's who I really am.
And the ego is not who we are. Let us start at least from here. And little by little, you know, we work our way and make ourselves stronger and stronger inside. So, keeping both feet on the ground, let’s take a deep breath in to relax the body. Take a deep breath in and release.
One more time.
And release. And let the body relax.
And as you watch your breath in and out, allow all thoughts of the world to fade into the distance and gently turn your attention inward and concentrate.
And the being of light that’s behind the eyes, this being of light, is pure consciousness.
Allow yourself to dwell on this light, totally free from any external influences, also free from your own thoughts, just being with the light.
This light, pure consciousness, is the life force in the body, is what makes the body work.
Imagine if this life force is yourself, that you are the life force in your body, that you are that beautiful light, shining and radiating peace, joy, compassion, purity, love, understanding.
This is who you are.
Hold yourself in this awareness.
And when you are in Disavow and look out through the eyes onto your life, and you realize all the blame, the guilt, the fear, the justification, all those things are external.
They're just manifestations of the ego that I created.
They're not who I am.
And instead of acting in that manner, let me stay aligned with my inner core.
For in that peace, there is strength.
In that compassion, there is strength.
In understanding, there is strength.
My ego is my creation.
I used it in self-defense, but it's not always productive. And effective.
Maybe as a child, yes, but not as a grown up.
For real. Maturity is when I don't need.
I don't need the drama of the ego.
I just need to be me.
That is to being of light, radiating all positive qualities.
The more I use them in my life, the stronger they become and they mold my personality.
So today, let me free myself from being driven by my ego and instead let me be driven by the truth of who I am.
Now take a deep breath in and release and hold yourself in your own truth. Thank you and all the best.
