Longtime friends and children of South Auckland, Mariner Fagaiava and Allyssa Verner-Pula are proud to present 'Island Roots, Auckland Ways'. Both in their early 20s and university students, Mariner has a background in journalism, while Allyssa is an emerging academic and creative. Together, they share their contemporary diasporic reflections on a number of topics pertaining to the Pasifika experience in Auckland. Using this podcast as a platform to create a living archive, Mariner and Allyssa hope to offer a modern, fresh and nuanced perspective on existing media that centres Pasifika communities in Auckland.
