Divine Audacity
According to Webster dictionary, to be audacious requires intrepid boldness, courage, and a sense of adventure. It is a willingness to take risks, a willingness to disregard conventional thought and normal restraints. I am the Rev. Brooke Scott, I am a Presbyterian pastor, I am a social worker, i am an advocate, i am a multi-spiritual mystic, I am a teacher, but above all else, I am a learner. A person with passion + rage and lament - a person with many curiosities. So much of my faith experience has been guided by my audacity to ask taboo questions + push back on harmful ideas and practices. So, this is a space where I hope to create safety for those who are fed up with Christianity or other spiritual traditions that have been oppressive, inaccessible, or limiting. Whether you are a person of color or a queer or trans person searching for the place to breathe - This is a space for queer and BIPOC individuals who have pushed out of spiritual communities. This is a place for freaks + geeks. It’s a space for poets, storytellers, activists, artists, healers, mystical, doubters, skeptics + rebels + wanderers + witches - and anyone simply seeking to carve out a new space for themselves. Together, we will sit at a new table + dare to ask all the questions that we’ve been told not to ask. And we will create new stories that center imagination + promote radical care & true liberation for all. So, join me as we rise together in dignity and hopefully meet with the divine.
