Reclaiming Our Playful Self: Beth Kurland, PhD
How’d we all get so doggone serious? If you’re a regular listener of the Catalyst 360 podcast, you’re likely a high performer, making the most of each day and each opportunity. Yet sometimes in the midst of doing so, we lose our playful self. We’re good at work – at getting things done. Play? That’s for later – unfortunately that “later” can continue to be pushed back indefinitely and our lives turn into a treadmill of checklists and a closet full of trophies. That tendency doesn’t have to continue – and today’s guest will help chart the course toward reclaiming our playful selves.
Welcome to the Catalyst 360 podcast. Today’s guest is clinical psychologist and award-winning author Dr. Beth Kurland. Drawing on mindfulness, neuroscience, positive psychology, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, she helps individuals not only enhance their inner resources for resiliency and well-being but also reclaim their sense of play. Her latest book is Dancing on the Tightrope: Transcending the Habits of Your Mind and Awakening to Your Fullest Life. Just a reminder from Beth that any information she shares is strictly for educational purposes only, and is not intended in any way as psychological treatment, advice or consultation of any kind. If anyone is struggling with mental health issues they should seek the treatment of a licensed mental health professional.
