Meritt:

I am Merrit Rollins Brown, your go-to mindset maintenance community coach for learning all about your thoughts, feelings, and habits in order to start achieving your goals and stepping into your future self. You ready?

Hello everyone. Thank you for tuning into this week's episode of the Mindset Maintenance Community Podcast. So you may be wondering why I changed the name again. Well, it's what I wanted to talk to you about. So I started off with the Mindset Maintenance podcast, and then I decided to follow someone's advice and sort of niche down and really pinpoint a. struggle that a lot of people have that I have also struggled with, and that was about more about meal times and changing your relationship with yourself and your body and how you think about food and what food means, and. I love talking about that and I'm still gonna talk about that. However, I just keep coming back to it's all about your mindsets and your thoughts, and I truly, truly believe that the results that we have in our. Are created by our thoughts because how we feel is fueled by our thoughts. And our thoughts and feelings are what create our habits. And then our habits are what create our results. So, If you, and a lot of it goes back to, um, how our brains are already programed and your brain is trying to keep you alive and survive, and so it's going to do certain things to protect you, which is fine, but if you aren't aware of your brain's patterns, then that's when you aren't taking the lead of your own life. That's when you get into the victim mentality and the self-judgment and the non-belief stages of your life because you're letting your old habits and your old thinking stop you from creating something new and. going with the change that you want to go with. And so I think like mealtime, I mean mindset for mealtimes is also about learning and understanding who you want your future self to be, because your future self is a person who doesn't struggle with body image and. Who is a person who is confident and loves their body and isn't obsessed with food, or always thinking about, oh my gosh, I can't eat this, or I have to go on a diet, or I'm gonna start this new diet on Monday. Or I have to work out because I just ate this hamburger and I have to punish myself and I'm gonna feel guilty when I eat this and all of that shit. All that bullshit goes away when you start understanding what you are thinking and then you also. envision or visualize who you want to be in the future. It's not about how you're going to become your future self, it's more about who you want to become. So when you think about yourself in 5, 10, 20 years, what do you want to be thinking? Do you want to still be thinking about and obsessing about what you are eating today or what you ate yesterday or what you ate five minutes ago? Or is your future self going to be more free and. is your future self. Going to learn how to meal prep and eat nutritionally dense foods and meals and learn how to slow down and enjoy the art of cooking and connecting with people. And. Being aware of the atmosphere that you're eating in, are you going to not eliminate foods? Obviously, if you have an allergy or an intolerance, yes, you may have to eliminate foods. That's not what I'm talking about, but your feature self is, Understands the importance of planning ahead of time and meal planning, and maybe meal prepping. Just two mules a week, especially if you have kids like I do who are in sports and we basically do every or every night of the week they have something and they don't get home until like eight 15 most nights. So I gotta, I got a plan. Our dinners or else we aren't gonna be eating until like nine 30 or sometimes we'll just have cereal if I did not take the time to plan out my meals ahead of ahead of time, which is fine. Um, because I understand that life ebbs and flows. We as people ebb and flow, we're gonna have moments of inspiration and motivation and. We are gonna get shit done and then we're gonna have other times when we don't feel like doing anything at all. And it's not about having motivation to do the things that you want to do. You have to, sometimes you have to plan out. when you're ins, when you're feeling inspired about doing something. For me it's, I get so many ideas and then I just write all of my ideas out and it takes, you know, and I'll feel inspired for like a week, and then I'll do all this work and all this writing, and I was like, okay. that inspiration or motivation has gone and now what do I do? But then I look back and I'm like, okay, so I wrote this down and I can definitely write more about it, but from a different perspective or through a different lens or what is another story or angle I can, Give people from what I wrote previously. So, it's just about understanding what you can do during that time, but also when you don't feel like doing something. planning for that. I follow somebody and they do a cleaning schedule and she vlogs it, films it, and a lot of times she's like, uh, I don't wanna clean this kitchen right now, because after being home with the kids, it's a long day. It takes it out of me some days like I have been there, totally have been there and, but she does it anyway because she knows in the morning, well she wakes up that she's gonna feel so much better about herself and about her house. And just being, just walking into a clean and organized space feels so much better than waking up to just complete chaos and shit every. and she does it even though she doesn't want to do it because she's singing about her future self. And in order to really embrace and step into who you wanna be in the future, it's all about maintaining your minds and maintaining your mindset. So if you plan to do. things one day and you don't do anything because maybe you're just feeling overwhelmed that day because again, life ebbs and flows. You ebb and flow and maintaining your mindset means not beating yourself up over not doing what you said that you were going to do on your to-do. Even though following through, I think following through with what you say you're going to do is very important. It's also important to understand that you are gonna do everything perfectly, and we aren't perfect humans at all. It's, it's more about if you say you're going to work out today, but you didn't work out today. It's about evaluating why you didn't work out, but also, not beating yourself up over the why, because you didn't feel like it May happen, but also think about how you feel after you do work out your future self. How do they feel when after they work out? And I want this to be, I want the mindset maintenance community to be about. taking this what's known as the model, so your thoughts, feelings, habits, results, and applying that to any area of your life. Because I promise you, when you start to change one area of your life, all of the other areas are gonna start changing whether you like intentionally do it or not. So if you wanna change something in your relationship with your partner, something else is going to change, like the relationship that you have with yourself, I want this to be more focused about. your mindset and you being able to apply it to whatever areas of your life that you want to apply it to. So I'm not taking away mindset for mealtimes. I am just, I am just amplifying. What it takes to transform into who you want to transform into. So the podcast will be covering a lot more topics and just intuitive eating and. nutrition and food and all of that, and I hope that you will stick with me and. keep enjoying this content because it is life changing and changing. Your life can be fun. It can be hard, but you are so worth it. I want to continue asking questions and every week before, Or in every week, once the podcast is released on Thursdays, I am gonna pose that question to my Instagram. So if you don't follow me on Instagram already, come and enjoy the fun over there. My handle is at Merritt Rollins Brown, m e r i t t r o l l i n s b r o w n, and I am the mindset maintenance community, c e o. And my Instagram is sort of pivoting again as well. Into more of your future stuff and owning your thoughts and learning how to feel your feelings, and really evaluating your habits and creating new habits. Our brain is capable of creating new neuro pathways and neurotransmitters but it just doesn't like to It doesn't like to expend energy that it doesn't want to use. It likes familiarity. It likes patterns. That's why a lot of people get called in dating like the same type of people because your brain is familiar with that. Your brain's like, well, we survived this once. We can survive it again, when in reality it's not really what you want. you know, you want somebody who's totally different than the last person that you dated. Yet somehow you managed to get someone who's very similar. and it's that awareness and the not judging yourself again and having that compassion and learning how to trust yourself and love yourself, and love who you are, that will help you become who you want to become and start leading your. and start doing the things that you have always wanted to do. Anxiety is fueled by fear or excitement. So if you're socially anxious, like I still get, sometimes it's because I'm learning that fear. control my thoughts versus recognizing what I'm thinking in the moment and then being excited about being around new people or connecting with others. And it's that subtle mind shift that lets me be able to. Talk to people and be myself more. It makes me more confident too when, when I am aware of what I'm thinking and aware and aware of how I'm feeling in that moment, because I get to decide. what my actions going to be? Am I going to be withdrawn socially or am I going to be social and connect with at least one person that night? So I hope that you. Follow me on this mindset, maintenance journey, and I know we're going to create something amazing and powerful and magical and you'd never know. Y this could end up changing your life, and how amazing is that? All right, so for the question this week, I'm bringing back the questions. So for the the whoa, so for the question this week, I want to know, Would you rather live in the mountains or by the beach? I have my answer, But I want to know yours.
