I'm honored to have Olga Trujillo on the podcast today! As a young lawyer, Olga was diagnosed with DID and after undergoing an extensive healing process, has become an internationally sought-after speaker and renowned author. Olga is featured in the video “A Survivor’s Story”, a documentary and training video based on her personal experience and her memoir, "The Sum of My Parts," was released in 2011.
Today, we talk about what it was like coming out publicly with DID while still working as a lawyer. Olga shares amazing advice to those who are wanting to do the same, but are afraid of potentially losing their job, or how it will impact their relationships and life, if they come out that they are living with DID. Managing job and relationship changes, initially not knowing she was living with DID, and then hiding her PARTs, it's an incredibly insightful conversation about trusting when it's right for you to come out publicly, loving your PARTs, the healing journey, and how DID is the solution, not a problem to be solved or eliminated. Join us!
Olga's Bio: Over a thirty-five-year career, Olga worked on Capitol Hill for Senator Charles McC. Mathias, in private practice for the law firm of Seyfarth, Shaw, Fairweather and Geraldson, at the U. S. Department of Justice (DOJ) where she served as the General Counsel of the Office of Justice Programs, and as the Legal Counsel and then Director of the Special Projects Division for the Office for Victims of Crime. Since leaving the DOJ in 2001, Olga has consulted with hundreds of national, state, and local organizations, addressing gender-based violence and has traveled to 49 states, 4 US territories, and 3 countries to deliver presentations and provide training on the impact of physical and sexual violence. A staple of her work, Olga weaves the role of culture, and in particular Latino culture, into every presentation, training, and technical assistance opportunity.
