From Survivor to Thriver
We speak with real people who are shattering mental health stigmas and finding their voices. We aim to normalize discussions around mental health topics and remind our audience: "it's perfectly ok to not always be ok."

Episode 67- Cheryl Ilov: I was my team leader
•
Erik DaRosa & Marc Fernandes
Cheryl, an author, speaker, physical therapist, martial artist, dancer, former chronic pain patient and a survivor is the host of the popular Femininja Project podcast. At the age of 36, she hit rock bottom and became terribly depressed and hopeless, when she was told her chronic pain would never let her live the life she wanted. She eventually fired her medical team and began to explore other, non-traditional healing modalities (acupuncture, reflexology) that allowed her to once again experience the joy of movement. From her own experience of beginning her training in the ancient Japanese martial art of Ninpo Taijutsu at the tender young age of 47, following a deep spiral into PTSD, to becoming her teacher’s first female black belt 10 years later, she discovered that there is an incredible amount of strength and power in each and every one of us, just waiting to be unleashed.
