The Bears Hooligan
The Bears Hooligan: A Chicago Bears Podcast. From the guy who used to believe Virginia McCaskey was an immortal who lived off the sadness of Bears fans. If i had a time machine, George Halas would not have fertilized the egg that eventually became Virginia. Now she’s a ghoul haunting Halas Hall & the Soldier Field locker room showers. Alonzo Spellman called this "The realest pod on the streets today!" #BearDown

New season, new QB & unfortunately the same old story. Are the Bears cursed to suffer horrendous offense for eternity? Why is decent defense and shitty offense always the calling card of the bears for decades? Some mysteries may never be solved. Bear Down
Bears Hooligan podcast coming at your week two. Bears vs. Texans. Bears get the shit kicked out of them. Not really, but it seemed that way. I mean, they only lost by six, had a chance to win the game in the final possession, and did not do so. But as a Bears fan, when you think back on that game, it legit feels like they got the shit kicked out of them because of the offense. And the offense was like a gut punch every time they had the ball. It was just makes you want to vomit thinking of what you were forced to watch. And that's why I'm not recording this podcast until Friday night. Because I couldn't bring myself to suffer through talking about it all week. Only reason I'm doing this is because I've told myself I'm going to do a podcast per game. It's two days to the next game, so I'm recording this podcast. I don't really have all that much to say about it. It was just fucking disgusting. It's the same shitty offense that us Bears fans have endured season after season after season after season. It's like some type of joke that somebody's playing on us where we are going to be forced to watch a good defense, which is fun. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy good defense. But as Bears fans, we're just craving, just begging for an offense. It's like we're we're crack addicts who can't score the crack, and the crack is the good offense, and we'll never get our hands on it. Because Virginia won't give it to us. I don't know what it is. I don't know how it can be. I don't know how you can have completely new general manager, completely new head coach, completely new offensive system, completely new quarterback, O-line. I'm not saying they're completely new from last year, but I'm just saying over the decades, over the years, all of these distant combin combinations of coaches, of players, of GMs, front office, all of it. And it's the same shit. It's the same story. It's the same story on repeat. It's legit like football groundhog day. Somebody can make a movie about it. It's somehow we are forced to suffer through this. I am in my mid-40s, and I have not, for the most part, had a great offensive team my entire life. Did Cutler have a couple decent seasons with Alshon and uh Marshall? Yeah. And Forte. But still, again, I mean, the whole thing that we're, as Bears fans, made fun of constantly about that we've never had a 4,000-yard passer or a 30-plus touchdown thrower. And every not everyone, but a good portion of us, because you still have the haters and the the fields lovers who were upset. But a good portion of us were very excited about Williams and thought things were changing. And I'm not blaming Williams. I'm not. I'm not old. I'm not hating the kid. I'm not I'm not down on the kid. I don't think it's his fault. Did he have a great game? No, he didn't have a great game last week. But he's a rookie. It was a second game. He's got room to grow. Really hard to grow and develop behind that offensive line. How does Ryan Poles go into this season and Matt Air Bifluse and Waldron? And uh Marshall, I think, is the offensive line coach. How do they go into this season thinking that this offensive line is going to be okay? Is going to be enough to develop this quarterback and to have a halfway decent offense. I don't understand that. I mean, I'm not a professional football coach. I am not a GM, but I'll tell you what, I look at that offensive line and I laugh. I don't know how they thought it was going to be okay, how they thought Shelton was going to be an average, you know, or better center, and that Nate Davis was going to actually want to play this year. I don't get it. He had an all-off season to fix the center position. Could have drafted somebody, could have signed somebody better, but yet he signed Shelton. He fucking sucks. Dude's getting bowled over every play. They can't even rush the ball this year. At least in previous seasons recently, they've been able to rush the ball. They can't even run the ball. I mean, it's an absolute fucking disaster on offense. Absolute disaster. One of the worst offenses I have ever seen as a Bears fan. And that's saying a lot. That's saying a fucking lot, man. It's just it's insane that we're going through this again. And that they haven't fixed it or solved it. I don't I don't get it. I mean, polls and Ian Cunningham, former offensive lineman, how can you not correct this at this point? And then now we're going into this week versus the Colts. Not a good team. Haven't looked great at all. And they have now they have injuries on their defensive line. So even worse. Teams have run all over them. Are we going to run against them? Are they going to finally get the ball moving? Because this is the game to do it. This is the game to get your shit moving forward and to grow and to learn. Will that happen? I doubt it. I doubt it. I don't think I'm going to bet anything on the Bears this week. I have no trust in them. Defense, yeah. Might maybe throw something on a defensive touchdown. That could happen. Richardson sucks. But I have no faith in this offense, and that's what I want. I want faith in the offense. I want to feel good going into a game about what my offense is going to do. I want to feel like, oh, we're going to get three, four touchdowns at a minimum. That's what everybody wants. Can't we just get something once? I just don't want to be laughed at by other teams online. I'm sick of it. I'm going up north to Green Lake, Wisconsin for the Packers vs. Bears game on November 17th. My brother-in-law and my sister have a vacation house up there, and we're going to go up there so we can be an enemy territory for the game. Sounds fun, right? It's supposed to be an actually enemy territory for this game, too, but stick with Wisconsin for a moment. But I'm like, do I want to go up there and be laughed at again? I don't know if I'm even going to wear Bears gear. I will, because I'm not a pussy, and I'll back my team. But I'm just saying, I'm so sick. I went last year for Wisconsin for uh Bears Packers first game of the season. I was over the border in Kenosha at a bar. And basically I got laughed out of the joint. Fucking so obnoxious. And now I was supposed to go to the Colts. I was supposed to go to Indiana, Indianapolis this weekend with my wife, who's a filthy Colts fan because she's from Indianapolis initially. She moved to Chicago in her mid-20s and we met in Chicago. And she is a Colts fan. And in 08, we went to the game when they opened Lucas Oil. That was the first year we dated, and Bears kicked the shit out of them. It was a great game. And we were going to go try to relive some of those memories this weekend, but after this Bears performance last week, I cancel it. I'm not going. I don't want to go drop 800 bucks on a weekend to see my team just get the shit kicked out of them or embarrass me or whatever. Fuck that. I'll save that money, drop 100, and go see them in a local bar here. Bears are costing Indianapolis economy money. And they're sucking the fun out of every single fan. Just the enjoyment. In 2006, when the Bears went to the Super Bowl that season, that was the greatest season of my Bears fandom as an adult. I was in my mid-20s. And every game, man, just loving it. I was at that Arizona game, the they who were they all who we thought they were game. I was at that game. And it was fucking unbelievable. And again, though, that was a team. Horrible offense. Great defense and special teams. But still it was fun. It was fun. And they scored some points some of those games. And that was a great season from front to end until the Super Bowl after the opening kick. Everything else kind of sucked. But fun season. 2010 fun season until we lost to the fucking Packers in the playoffs. And 18, fun until the double doink, of course. But just think of all the other teams in this league that have had year after year after year of seasons like those. I can list on one hand the amount of seasons I've enjoyed in my life where they've been fun. I mean, what are we doing here? Why are we suffering through this? I'm gonna keep suffering, but I don't know why. I don't know why I choose to suffer. You know what I mean? That's what being a Bears fan is. It's fucking suffering. It's pain. It's heartbreak. It's just wanting to break something, just be annoyed, just ugh, it's just heartbreaking. And that's what that offense is doing to me thus far. Hopefully they can fix it this week. Because I got a wife with a family full of Colts fans, and I'd love to tell them to eat shit. And I'd love to have a little something to be proud of, and to think in my heart that this team is growing, actually. Look at that. Okay, they've made a step, they've progressed. Good news. That's what I want. I want good fucking news on Sunday. I want something to feel good about. I don't want to I don't want also one of those wins where the defense wins, offense does nothing, and you feel shitty still after a win. I don't want to feel shitty after a win. I want to feel good after a win. I want to enjoy it. I want to be able to laugh, suck down some beers, pound a few fucking hoons, and enjoy a game. You know, let's link a little magic in it. Let's go. I'm still trying to bring out some positivity. Let's get positive. Let's pound these filthy Colts, put these dirty Colts' pans in their place, and take care of fucking business. We got a bunch of games lining up here with shitty teams coming up the next few weeks. Let's get rolling before we meet up with the division. Let's get shit in gear and let's get this offensive line situation fixed. Learn how to pick up a fucking blitz. Let's go. Let's bear the fuck down and let's kick some goddamn ass. Let's go.
