Human emotions are complex psychological and physiological responses to significant events, consisting of subjective experiences, bodily reactions, and behavioral expressions. They evolved to aid in survival, social connection, and decision-making.

Subjective Experience:

How you personally perceive and label the feeling (e.g., "I feel happy").

Physiological Response: Automatic physical changes governed by the brain, such as an increased heart rate from fear or the release of hormones like dopamine.

Behavioral Response: The outward expression of the emotion, such as smiling, crying, or withdrawing.

While often used interchangeably, these terms describe different experiences:

Emotions are automatic, complex, and relatively short-lived reactions to events.

Feelings are the conscious experience and perception of those emotions.

Moods are prolonged, generalized emotional states that often lack a specific, identifiable trigger.
